Yeah that makes sense.

But I meant Maddy's post about realizing after falling in love and hence correcting that guilt by then imposing a nikaah, etc.

All I'm saying is, there wasnt enough time for any kind of retrospective thought in Saif and Amrita's love story before marriage, which was around 2 weeks old. It was so fast and emotionally charged, ending with them eloping together, that I just dont see conversion, nikaah, coming into the equation.

Hey Maddy, I dunno if you ever watched that interview of Saif's during Dil Chahta Hai when he talked about his marraige and told his story. I think I even posted it on IF at one point. But I cant find it on youtube.

And wait, why am I trying to prove that Amrita didnt convert? I mean...that's what's assumed isnt it? Unless its reported that she converted? And if so, can I get a link?

So how can people just assume she did? I'm basing my stance on what the media's reported, what the stars themselves have said. So atleast I have some basis for my story

good question it happens in many cases it's a little more complicated i don't have in depth knowledge but from what i know is that in such cases the girl has to be nikahofied with someone else for atleast a period of time and if her 2ndhusband divorces her than she can get back to her first but she has to have a hubby wifey relationship witht he2nd one it's not like you can hire someone for just to divorce her later ( some people do hire but that's where the problem comes because they are not willing to let their wives being with someone else )

But than every scholar/aalim have different views as people said the process is a little more complicated and m not aware of it and yes i mean if you are at your 3rd talaq level than it have to be something major

The only requirements for you to be considered married under Islamic law are to have a guardian (wali) for the girl (though the hanafi madhab doesn't require one) to act on her behalf (usually the father), two witnesses (can be anyone who is Muslim and male) and an agreed upon dowry amount. Both sides accept and that's it. All the rest of the legal mumbo jumbo and paper signing is not a requirement to be married Islamically. That is all for the legal aspect if you want a legally recognised marriage. Do you really think Muslims in villages have papers they sign etc? Even then their marriage would be recognised by law legally in most countries without the papers.

And it is forbidden for a Muslim male to marry anyone who is of another religion except a Christian or a Jew. Hence why people convert to marry etc. Though I'm sure nowadays you can find someone dodgy to marry you off and claim it was fine if you throw enough money at them.
