this post is just my thoughts on terence...as a choreographer...
its great to see geeta come up with new ideas and concepts this season...
but there is something about terence's choreography that is unique and refreshing...

for example, when other contestants do contemporary...from the other 2 teams...the choreography puts their moves and stretches in your face...in terence's choreography, his understanding of contemporary comes in, and the dances are subtle...if someone is doing a split, there is a subtlity in it...and not a split in your face or to show off that you can do something...the dance routines seem more organic...the dance seems bigger than the dancer...and the dance seems more whole...

when it comes to use of props...i feel he definitely has a penchant for them...and his creativity shines through...the prop is used again...subtly, cleverly and very creatively...its not something to show off with ...its just integrated very well...take shakti-parvez on the wall...shakti/jack and the box...the frame, the sofa, the net, the sand, the dabbas, the pot...its done so cleverly...

when it comes to fusion...some how again...i think there is a balance with him...of how much and how little...mixing indian and western, folk and classical...freestyle...
he seems to be the only one who understands what freestyle is...

i also feel that he uses the strengths of his contestants very well...
from vrushalis expressions, to jai's love for props, mayuresh's training, shakti's skill, amar's strength, pradeeps acrobatics, neerav's expression...raghav...

and also mould's contestants beautifully...
take piyali for example...her graph of improvement...hats off to terence
and amar...he did not know of contemporary, and it became synonymous with him...

i also feel the other two masters have been very influenced by terence, especially when it come to airel acts and contemporary...mayuresh's ring, was the first time anyone saw something like that...geeta had not ever imagined it...so to see them go from there to where they are...id say hats off to terry

this is not to say that i dont like the other two masters...i do like them
i think they are talented and good and what they do...
but me as a viewer...i might miss a remo or geeta act...and i might not always think terence's act was the best...but there is something in his choreography that stands out...and always connects to me...something i like in it...

i have great respect for him as a person...but as a choreographer...understanding the dance, its soul and spirit, the technicalities of lights and camera angles...and as a teacher...i think he is one of the best ive seen...

great going terence... :)
to me, you will always be the one to venture into new paths
the one, a step ahead...

Lovely post👏

You've described Terence's creativity as a choregrapher very well...I think he's one of the rare teachers who TRULY understands his students and KNOWS how to mould them to the best of their abilities...literally every person who has been in TKT since the beginning has evolved for the better in some way...this season I couldn't stand Piyali much when it started but the way Terence moulded her, he compels you to appreciate with the way he showcases his contestants.

I think what Sneha G. said about him once holds true to for him as choreographer also...somewhere in that process of making you a good human being at your core, he taps into your very core as a dancer as well and helps you to bring out that SOUL in your dancing.

Terence has been a trendsetter in many ways...three seasons in, it's quite obvious now that the other two masters are inspired by whatever he's set benchmarks for in previous seasons...but Terence continues to be a pathbreaker in his own way...probably cuz he doesn't set out to really genuinely upstage anyone...he does it simply and purely for the love of dance...first and foremost.

Aww I love this post! <3
Terence is AMAZING. Not only as a choreographer, but as a human being also. There's just something really genuine about him. His LOVE for dance just SHINES through everything he does. It's always been dance first, then anything else for him. Like AreYaar said that Sneha G and other contestants throughout the seasons have said, he brings out your PERSONALITY like no other that helps you connect to their acts. He seems to care about every contestant and genuinely wants them all to grow and walk away as better dancers, loving dance even more.
His creativity is on another level. The way he uses even the smallest moments of a song, the concepts he thinks of..he IS a prop king. He brings these inanimate objects to LIFE, using them in ways you would never think of.
And word. He knows how to use his contestants strengths and HIGHLIGHT them like no other. Right from Vrushali's expressions to Raghav's goofiness really..And all his contestants just grow as dancers by the end of their journey. There's so much improvement there. Alisha, Amar, Piyali, and Sneha G are perhaps the biggest examples of this (not that the others in his team didn't grow). Alisha and Amar started out as untrained dancers and look at what they became! Everyone remembers Alisha as the girl who could give all the guys a run for their money..Amar did contemporary so beautifully..heera he was. Honestly, I didn't understand what Piyali was doing in the top 18 and look at her tremendous growth. Even Sneha, what she started out as, and what she's grown to..
Its quite obvious that Remo and Geeta are largely inspired by what Terence has shown in the earlier seasons...but Terence toh Terence hain..he stands out in his own way..

Awww...what a lovely post! The thread opener just spoke my heart out. Today's episode seemed like Geeta's and Remo's for the most part. TKT gave 2 sweet performances and I guess they din't have the WOW effect like the other acts. But i still liked both of his acts today. I don't want to take anything away from RKR and GKG performances. 'Simplicity' was written all over the TKT acts. He just understands the music so well and makes every step look so beautiful. It's incredible. The way he plays with beats and comes up with the most attractive steps 👍🏼 hats off!!!! To me, he is completely at a different level. I hope he will always be there for all the seasons to come. I cannot imagine DID without him. He compels me to look forward for his group performances and also forces me to think that the best contestants always evolve come from his team. From season 1 to season 3, its always his team.

I couldn't agree more with the above posts regarding Terence's relation with contestants and the way he moulds them. Who thought Amar could end up like that 😲 it was a treat to watch Amar dance every single time. He was like melting butter😍 Same with Alisha, Piyali, Sneha G, Sneha Kapoor...the list can go on honestly 👏 One thing I have noticed since season 1 is that all his contestants genuinely love him very much and there is always one contestant who loves him more than others. In season 1, it was Vrushali...season 2 Amar and now season 3 seems like Sneha G. If I ever get selected in DID, undoubtedly I would want to be in his team 😆 I would go crazy admiring him ☺️ but oh well, am not that good of a dancer to get selected EVER 🤣

@luv2dance: To be honest, I feel Terence was the only one who's acts in today's 90s special were genuinely creative...what did Remo do? Two couple acts on "hawt" item songs...not very creative to begin with and not very interestingly performed either...Sanam-Mohena looked uncomfortable many times in their act...so where exactly was the "hawtness" that everyone was raving about?😕😆

Geeta...Abhik-Rajasmita were doing acrobatics on that trolley...honestly not my cup of tea...and the billiards table act was just getting creepy with stuff like Paul pouring those balls over Rajasmita😕

What did Terence do? He took a very iconic 90s song and genuinely went CREATIVE with it by mixing Bihu in so sweetly...full credit to Pradeep-Piyali as well for their input...but that was an act that didn't rely on the gimmick of being "hawt"

Then we come to act 2...the trio with Raghav-Sneha-Neerav...doing a comic act is not easy...but the gags were fantastically put in...very CREATIVELY choreographed and giving a nod to the original iconic characters from AAA...and they all performed it very well...fantastic comic timing from all of them while dancing full on...even Raghav stepped out of his comfort zone in a sense.

I feel Terence was the only one today who didn't rely on the gimmicks...I liked the choreography of both his acts and they were genuinely entertaining PERFORMANCES...choreographically and execution wise as well.

Awesome post. 👏 I completely agree. Terence is a true find for Indian dance reality shows. Heck, just dance in India in general. He has single-handedly revolutionized how dance is viewed in India. And brought in so many styles of dance. With Geeta and Remo, I would rate them about the same as most of the choreographers we have in Bollywood already. But Terence is special...he is different. He has a vision...and more than anything he's a dancer himself. You can see that when you see HIM dancing too. That love and passion he has for dance. No wonder he can bring that out with any of his contestants...it's that contagious energy and passion probably that he can translate to anyone. I truly think he can make ANYONE dance. He doesn't LOOK for the best...he looks for potential...he looks for the willingness to learn. He looks for ANY spark.

Plus, not to mention he has all this experience from all his travelling and training. He really knows his stuff, be it with Indian or Western dance forms. And he's always willing to learn more styles even at this stage of his career.

His creativity is just unparalleled on this show. You've described it perfectly. I can go on about it too...it's just so inspiring. It's just that CARE he gives to his contestants...the CARE he gives to his profession and dance in general.

There's always something about his choreography that stays with you. It's honest, it's natural, and it FLOWS with the music. And it's not superficial.

I actually love the story of his struggle too. How he's come so far...and where he started from. When he didn't even have money for food...truly the guy's an inspiration. He's come so far only on the basis of his talent, hard work, willingness to learn, and his pure love and passion for dance. 👏 Even if he irritates me sometimes, I can never stop appreciating him. And with every season, this appreciation just grows. :)

Oh God, THANK YOU!!! 🤗

I have ditto thoughts about today's episode. ;)

Terence was once again, the only one of the three masters with genuine creativity and imagination. From his song selections to his choreography to the contestants performing it well, he got it all right. 👍🏼

That Bihu act was SO sweet. This was the best duet I've seen from Piyali. Both Pradeep and Piyali were so in sync...they performed so sweetly. And I loved that little hint of culture and tradition Terence brought in without it being in your face or OTT. That whole farmer and his wife story. That just added so much more poignancy to this act. And Pradeep and Piyali portrayed such beautiful little moments together...it was so soul touching to see them. :))

And gahh I LOVE Terence for choosing this AAA song! 😆 Agar 90's ka kuch karna hai toh do something legendary and iconic right? Geeta and Remo toh chose such blah songs too. Waisse I loved Terence's story about why he chose that "Dekha hai pehli baar" song too.

But yeah, that AAA act was so damn creative!! He basically brought the entire essence of the movie in that 2-3 minute act. The punches were hilarious. And Raghav, Neerav and Sneha performed also very well.

See, I love how Terence just isn't afraid to let his contestants be goofy or just go all out. Especially that one step where these three are just crawling around on the floor trying to 'beat' one another...😆...they just looked SO adorably goofy!! I cracked up watching that. Now I can't see Geeta or Remo ever putting in something SO goofy and natural in their choreography. They always focus on trying to show off with hard stunts/lifts etc. instead. NATURAL and lifelike moments kam hote hain in their choreography.

Similarily the little moments in Piyali-Pradeep acts as well. They made that relationship come to life. Little everyday things like Pradeep sprinkling that water on Piyali...just their little teasing moments...so lifelike and natural. And that too WITH dance!

I love that subtlety and humility in Terence's choreography. And he brings that out in his contestants too. Perhaps that's what Mayuresh in season one and Sneha in season 3 were talking about. That Terence brings out the good person within them. Well, when there's this kind of humility and HONESTY in his choreography...you just HAVE to perform it with soul you know? Then it's pure, and untainted with ego and the desire to show off. It's just the love for the art. And I really think that the process of becoming a true and genuine artist would make anyone a better human being too.

Oh...and since I got carried away with my Terence appreciation...I forgot that I wanted to rant on the rest of the useless acts of today too. WORD to all you said.

Don't even get me started on Remo and Geeta's lazy, gimmicky and completely superficial choreography today. I am just about sick of Geeta's dumb props and her acrobatics. Way to ruin great songs Geeta. 👏

We've seen so many versions of "Jooma Chumma" and this one's got to be the worst yet. Ek toh Mohena just irritates me as a dancer. She misses beats all over the place, her expressions are OTT and fake and she has zero spark or soul in what she's performing. And Remo's choreography was just so lame. Especially the ending...which just had me rolling my eyes. Boring. 👎🏼

Even lamer was the Sanam-Mohena act. I just find it funny that in a supposedly "hawwt" number, these two had ZERO chemistry! 😕 Isn't that a total phoos bomb now? And Sanam was sooo awkward. What's with his constant fake si smile? Are those the "hero wale" expressions Remo wanted from Raghav in his act with Sneha? Well then, thank God Raghav doesn't have those. And Mohena again missed so many moves and beats. 👏 And there was this one step, where I almost just burst out laughing because Sanam just looked SO damn awkward there. And yeah, I shouldn't even talk about that dumb "water/rain" gimmick. Blahhh.

Geeta wasn't any better either. What was so great about that rolling wala performance? 😕 I failed to see it. She ruined that "yeh haseen wadiyaan" song for me. Ek toh acrobatics hi the, aur upar se she had Abhik and Rajasmitha just smiling throughout the act. Aur koi expression nahin tha. I didn't get that romantic essence which the song required at all. Hardly any dance there.

And the Paul-Rajasmitha act was another blahh one. What is with Geeta giving them these CRINGE inducing type of acts every week? Ugh. Puts me off. Such cheap gimmicks too. Creepy, like you said. 🤢

You know what is so funny? That people have such a problem with Hindu Gods being insulted and all that...classical getting butchered etc...but what about these kinds of CHEAP gimmicks Remo and Geeta bring in all the time? Seriously, these have no class when showing sensual numbers.

Since this thread is about Terence, to get back on topic...there's a HUGE difference between the way Terence shows sensual numbers and the way Geeta/Remo show them. Terence has CLASS. Remember the Vrushali-Jai 'hai rama' act? Not even for one moment did that performance look cheap in any way despite it having a bold concept. Same with Shakti and Amar's khuda jaane which was just so romantic. You can bring out that passion without resorting to cheap, tacky gimmicks.
