The moment of confession was no less than magic. Purity, serenity, honesty, passion and commitment, it brought together everything they could wish for. Although it was just a mere expression of three words, but it brought with it an invisible string of hold, which held them tighter than ever before, stronger than ever before and closer than ever before.
"I love you", he giggled and Nupur frowned, "Mayank listen I ..
"I love you", he repeated.
"Mayank!, will u listen to me?", she asked helplessly
"No", he grinned, "Because I love you".
It was since the past half an hour that Nupur was trying to tell him about her end of semester function and how much she missed having him beside her when all the girls where there with their dates but Mayank was not at all listening, instead was confessing his love for her.
"okay fine I am not talking, you carry on!", she huffed and sat down on the hostel garden pavement, while Mayank sighed and supported his back with the college pillar, "I am carrying on princess, loving and loving you infinitely", he sighed and inspite of not wanting, she couldn't stop her lips curving in a shy smile and she nervously started plucking out grass, "I love you too", she said in a bare whisper and grinning Mayank coughed, "umm, what?, what did you say?",
His tone was so serious that for a second Nupur really thought he missed out, but judging the grin that followed, she huffed, "nothing!, I hate you!!"
"ouch!, you heard the sound of my heart break?", he sighed dramatically and Nupur felt her heard clench in a fist, "sorry Mayank", she said spontaneously, "please sorry, I didn't mean that way .. I love you .. I love you very much , please sorry", she said breathlessly, her hands shaking by now, and completely surprised, Mayank said, "hey princess relax!, I was joking!, ofcoruse you didn't mean that way"
His reassured voice relaxed her, and a couple of tears flowed down her eyes, "why do you crack such jokes mayank!, mujhe dar lagta hai!"
"awww.. princess ", he smiled and his pampering tone made her smile as well, "I am sorry , I won't repeat, happy?"
"no not happy yet!", she pouted and Mayank sighed, "alright!, I should have guessed I am not getting away easily, punishment please princess"
Nupur grinned and cuddled to herself, again plucking out grass, "you have to listen to me"
"okay princess", he again moulded his voice in a love filled tone and Nupur smiled, 'tonight we had the end semester party and I missed you, I missed you because I was there alone and rest everyone was with their partners, and I want to be with you!", She said and closed her eyes to absorb moistness,
"done?", he said and Nupur murmured, "hmmm"
"okay, so my answer to all this is .. I love you', he said normally and smiling midst of tears, she sighed, "you know perfectly how to handle me!!", he grinned and wiped away tears, "acha mayank, how is dad?, as in he says he is fine, but did you go to see him, as in his health is fne na?, he won't ever tell me correctly"
"he is fine Nupur, I went to see him the other day, he was perfectly fine"", his voice dipped low and Nupur obviously judged it, "everything fine Mayank?"
Mayank pondered for a moment about sharing or not, but then he let go, he wanted to share.
"actually princess, sir wants me to join his firm after my masters and '
"what?, are you serious?, that is great Mayank!!, WOW!!", she said completely ecstatic and mayank sighed, "give your excitement a pause princess, I refused", he said it so bluntly that Nupur felt the edge of a razor in his voice, "what?, why"?, she asked, rather in a shock.
"because I don't want favours"
"oh come on Mayank!!, now don't start off with all that, you know you deserve it"
"I know I deserve it, but something tells me I should not be the employee of my future father in law"
He said it so normally that Nupur felt her heart flutter, but gaining composure she said, "Mayank this is no logic I mean ..
"you don't understand Nupur, money is like a blade, it cuts relationships faster than fire eats wood"
"mayank listen ..
"no you listen Nupur, you have never faced money issues, I have!, and I know better than you what money can do, not that I doubt that sir is going to burdenize with the favor that he gave me a job, but unconsciously this is going to seep in, you know you are never going to respect me because you would know that I didn't do anything on my own", he said it in a calm tone and Nupur took a deep breath,
"okay handsome I won't argue, but whatever it is, you have to marry me the week I return, understood?", she asked grimly and Mayank whispered hoarsely, "I won't mind within the next hour princess"
His voice was so convicted that Nupur felt all her body glow with love and pride,.
"and btw princess ..
"I love you", she interrupted, completely in a daze and Mayank smiled, "I love you too, but I was saying that ..
"I love you", she interrupted again and this time Mayank frowned a bit, "princess can we talk about your next semester?"
"no we can't, because I love love love love loovvveee you, and right now we just fixed our marriage and I am not going to spoil it with any of your lectures, so good bye, and I LOVE YOUUU!!", she shouted the last bit and disconnected the phone, leaving Mayank with an awe struck smile, while across the seven seas, Nupur was basking in the moonlight, holding her mobile in her hands.
Marriage with Mayank would be a slice of heaven.
