MG OS ~ Pyaar ya Haar - Last part PG 3-12/03

"Hello aunty" Geet said when she saw the door being opened by a elder woman. "Arre Geet beta... How come you are early? Naina Khurana asked her. Geet was Veer's friend Rajat Handa's daughter. "Actually aunty bus came in early and also there was hardly any traffic" she replied settling herself on the sofa. Naina said "make yourself comfortable I will be back" and she went inside .Geet just observed the mansion, it was huge and beautiful. She was awed by its beauty when her eyes fell on an antique piece which was a horse and the king was riding it along with the queen sitting in front of him. "You liked it" asked Veer. She was so lost looking at it that she didn't even know that someone came and stood beside her and then she heard the voice of Veer uncle. "Yes uncle, it's just marvelous and classy choice" she replied. He just smiled and said, "Yes indeed it's beautiful but the classy choice is of my son Maan". She just looked at him but didn't say anything. When Veer saw she is not talking anymore he asked her, "So how was your journey? and when is your exam?"

"Journey was fine just a bit tiring, day after tomorrow uncle" she replied. Geet had come to Mumbai for her exams and was to stay with Khurana's for a span of three days and fourth day she was to leave back to Delhi. Meanwhile Naina came up with snacks and she asked Geet to freshen up have snacks and relax or study whatever she feels better. Geet agreed and went to guest room which Naina showed her. Veer also left for his club as it was already late evening. Geet freshened up had snacks and went to sleep as she didn't feel like studying due to tiredness.

She heard the knock on the door and woke up. It was nine and she had slept for almost two hours. Naina had come to woke her up for dinner. Geet apologized to her for sleeping for long hours. Naina comforted her saying that there was nothing wrong in sleeping as she was tired and asked her to join them for dinner. Geet had her dinner with Veer and Naina when she got to know their son Maan had gone to some party and so was not there at dinner table. During their talks she got to know that as tomorrow is Holi they are having some puja in the morning and she decided to get up early and help Naina aunty. Accordingly she informed Naina that she will come and help her. After dinner she retired to her room and started studying as she had already over slept in the evening.

She had studied for almost 3 hrs when she felt sleepy and was about to sleep after drinking water but the water jug was empty. She went to kitchen to fill the jug and while returning she heard some light footsteps as if they were avoiding to make noise. She panicked as who might come at this time and she enquired," Kaun hai?" But she didn't get any answer instead she heard the footsteps coming near her. She got frightened and asked again, "Kaun hai? Jawab kyu nai dete?" But before she could move to switch on lights and see who it is... her mouth was closed by strong hands and she was cornered by the person to nearby wall. She was so frightened and in an attempt to protest the jug fell down breaking it into pieces and made a shrill noise. He was just about to leave her thinking who this stupid woman is? Just because of her now he will have to face his dad, when suddenly lights came up and Naina and Veer saw Geet's mouth was shut by Maan and she was struggling to get out. Veer roared," Maan, what are you doing? Just leave she will suffocate."

That is when Maan turned to see the face of so called intruder and was lost in those almond hazels for a minute. Geet's condition was not different even she was lost in observing him and compared him with the photo she had seen in the living room. She thought he is more handsome in real than those photographs. He was also thinking on the same lines as if she is the epitome of beauty. They both were brought back to present when Naina said," Geet beta tum thik toh hona?" Geet just nodded unable to say anything.

Veer gave a angry glare to Maan and said," Maan, what was all this? Is this a way you behave with guests? Maan was like guests and just dipped his head and said," Wo... Dad I thought there is some intruder and so I just wanted to get hold of him. I never knew she will be there." Veer shouted," How can you be so careless? Yesterday itself I had told you Geet is coming to our place for stay over as she is having her exams here. No but how will you remember these things right. During day time you are so called engrossed in your work that you don't care about others and nighttime you just roam with your prototype buddies. Ghar ki toh kisse padi nahi hai and Is this the time you come home? Maan was aware of his dad's temper which even he had inherited. He kept quiet when he heard his mom interrupting and felt relief that finally the lecture will end," Ab bas bhi kariye, kal puja hai jaldi uthna hai. You go and sleep I will just clear this mess and come." She was about to go and clear when she heard Geet saying," Aunty aap so jayiye, I will clean this." Naina nodded said looking towards Maan said, "kal jaldi uthna puja hai warna dad aur gussa ho jayenge". Maan nodded and she went away. Maan looked at Geet and said to himself "hmmm... bhartiya beti and bahu types interesting" He also went to help her as he was somewhere responsible for this. Geet thought to herself' Interesting helping and all- respects woman. They both cleared all the mess mumbled "sorry" and "thanks" to each other and went to sleep.

Next day Geet was helping Naina with puja preparations running here there, looking after the holi celebrations. Maan came down in a green sherwani which his mom had asked him to wear when she had gone to wake him up so that no clashes happen between son and dad due to this. He was looking for his mom for breakfast when his eyes fell on Geet who was busy with her work of decorations. She was looking very pretty in red salwar suit but he shifted his gaze thinking what stupid thing he was doing and continued looking for his mom when he heard a sweet voice, "Aunty and uncle have gone to neighbors place for their puja and will be back before our puja starts. Aunty had informed me before leaving that your breakfast is kept on kitchen counter." and she left. Maan also busied himself in preparations after having his breakfast. The puja went well without any hurdles.

By around 10 they were ready in white clothes to celebrate holi and were waiting for Maan's friends who were to join them. Soon everyone came and Maan introduced Geet to them as they knew his parents already. The weird part was he introduced Geet as his friend and not his dad's friend's daughter. She was just overwhelmed by his gesture.

They were just enjoying playing with colors and splashing water when Maan saw Geet was alone standing there. He felt bad and went near her and asked," May I" showing his hands which were full of colors. She had denied everyone telling she is allergic but somehow she couldn't deny him and nodded in positive. Maan felt goose bumps when he touched her soft cheeks to apply the colors but he ignored it. Geet's condition was no different she felt a chill run down her spine. They felt an instant connection between them but shrugged it off.

Dev, Maan's friend was eyeing Geet as he had instantly taken liking for her. He called up Maan and asked," Maan, yeh Geet se tu pyar toh nahi karta naa ya fir usse shaadi karne ka irrada nai hai na?" expecting him to answer in negative. Maan listening to his statement started laughing harder and said," Abe tu jaanta hai na Maan Singh Khurana ke dictionary mein 'Pyar' aur 'Haar' words nahi aate toh shaadi karneka toh sawal hi nahi ata and woh toh yahaan exam dene aai hai." Hearing this Dev took a sigh of relief and said," Toh meri setting karva na yaar". Maan felt angry at first instance but later he composed himself and introduced Dev to Geet but this time personally.

They both kicked off well. Somewhere Maan felt bad but he left that thought. Next Geet also enjoyed with them completely involving herself in it. After the hardcore Holi celebration everyone left. Maan's friends too left taking a promise that Geet will join them for Dev's birthday party after she is done with exams day after tomorrow. She agreed as she thought now she can spend more time with Maan as she has already started liking him. They went back to mansion cleaned up themselves, had lunch and relaxed for sometime as they were exhausted.

After taking the afternoon nap Geet immersed herself in studying. Maan was bored relaxing, helping his mom in daily chores which hardly he did as he never used to stay at home. Today he was at home giving the reason that he was tired and wanted to relax but actually he wanted to chat with Geet so that he can help Dev but Geet was nowhere to be seen she was completely engrossed in studying. Maan just saw her at dinner table where they discussed about general topics. She soon retired to her room to continue with studies. Maan was disappointed that he couldn't have a talk with Geet but shrugged it off saying" mujhe kahan usse baat karni hai, wo toh bas Dev ki khatir mein baat karne wala tha. Par agar usme itni akad hai toh mein kuch kam nahi." He went away to sleep.

Next day at the breakfast table Geet came to know that they were going to NGO for some donation. It was trend of Khurana's to go to NGO to donate after the festival of colors. All four of them went as even Geet wanted to see the children's in orphanage. They completed all the formalities of donations and were leaving when they saw a couple, may be they had come for adoption purpose and were shouting on the caretaker that she was a cheat and that she was giving them a handicapped child. Geet felt her blood boiling and she was to go and teach them some humanity but before she could take a step ahead she saw a seething Maan already going towards them. Their insulting to the caretaker wasn't enough that they pushed the child and he was about to fall when just in time Maan caught him.

The child started crying and Geet went to soothe him. Maan stood up and slapped the man who had pushed the child and roared in anger," If you can't give happiness then at least don't hurt any soul. If you didn't' want to adopt him because he was handicapped you could have told them instead of doing such heinous act. You know this is the reason you don't have your own child because even he knows( pointing towards sky) that you don't have any humanity in you then how are you going to look after someone else child."

He turned to look at the child so as to calm him but what he saw made him dumbstruck, the child was nowhere crying instead sitting on Geet's lap and playing as if nothing had happened. Maan was awed by Geet's quality to make people love her within short span of time. Maan told the trustee that from now onwards he will sponsor for Raj (the child) and there was no need to give him for adoption and humiliate him further for his defect, instead to make him capable to take care of himself. Geet just admired this person who had many hidden qualities. She was just falling for him more and more. They left promising raj they will come to meet him again.

When they reached home it was almost late afternoon. They had lunch and everyone retired for their work. Geet also went to study as she had her exams next day. Maan went to office. They met again at dinner table. Naina and Veer had gone to friends place for dinner. They both were having dinner. Maan saw Geet was tensed and suddenly he asked her," So miss Bookworm, done with studies ya abhi bhi kuch ratna baki hai." Geet just glared and said," Excuse me Mr. Maan whom did u call a bookworm" Maan smirked as she was angry and replied coolly, "Obviously you Geet, we both are alone here I don't see any third person " and continued with dinner. She pouted in O shape and getting flustered at his audacity she could just manage to say," What?" Maan was enjoying her plight and said," Aur nai toh kya, since you have come I have always seen you shut up in room. I don't think you know what's partying and enjoying also." She replied, "Obviously I do party but it's just that I have exams tomorrow so was studying." Maan saw his plan working and said," If I had been in your situation I would have partied for sometime after so much of stress just to relax but I know you can't, so lets forget it." She instantly said, "There is nothing like that, I can also party now." Maan out of nowhere asked her," Ok then let's go to disc, we are celebrating Dev's birthday." She was shocked but reluctantly agreed as she knew if she would have denied then he would make fun of her and also Dev had asked her to come.

She wore a black knee length one piece; she was looking sexy but still beautiful. Maan was just lost looking at her. He thought to himself" hmm... Good blend of traditional and modern culture... impressive". Engrossed in his thoughts he didn't even realize when she came and stood beside him. She was also lost in him as he looked hot in his blue denims and black shirt with top 3 buttons open. They were complimenting each other. She saw him lost and asked," Chale." He nodded, kept a note for his parents and they left. Geet thought" hmm' a responsible son too."

They were enjoying to the fullest dancing to the music played by the DJ. Maan saw Geet was full life, she was enjoying with Meera who was his friend. She also danced with Dev who was more than happy dancing with her. Maan had a feeling to hit Dev but he thought "Dev loves her so there is nothing wrong in that" and left to buy a drink. Geet also observed Maan, he was a man of hidden treasures, and you can't understand him. Sometimes he is so serious and sometimes laughing his heart out. She just smiled and thought she was head over heels in love with him. Later they cut the cake and were about to leave when Dev reminded them to join next day evening for his treat. Both of them agreed and left.

When they reached it was quite late. They were about to go when she heard Maan say" So now you might be relaxed. Just freshen up and sleep or if u want to study you can. But now you will not be tensed." He bade her goodnight turned and went away to his room without waiting for Geet to reply to whatever he said. After reaching her room she realized he had purposely provoked her so that she relaxes a bit and her tension is loosened up. She was happy after understanding his move. She felt overwhelmed and thought that how well he could read her mind. She freshened up and studied for almost whole night.

In morning, she looked fresh though she hardly slept for 2 hours. She prayed, took blessings of Naina and Veer, had a talk with her mom and dad who wished her luck and she left when Maan said, "Wait, I will drop you." Geet's happiness knew no bounds. While the whole drive no one broke the silence. They reached the venue, she felt bad that he did not even wish her. She got down and turned to leave when he said," ek minute" he opened the car door took something in his hands. Giving it to Geet he said "Take this and keep it with you its my lucky charm. It has always helped me, am sure it will help you too." and gave a assuring smile. Changing his expression he said" Jahaan tak exam ka sawal hai I know you will rock but yeh baki logon ke liye hai kahin wo fail na ho jaaye tumhari wajah se." and gave wicked grin. She just smiled at his gesture and mubled a thanks to him. He went away wishing her luck once again.

Naina and Veer were discussing something when they saw Geet entering. Her happiness showed she had done well in exams. The whole day she just enjoyed with both of them, watching movies which were all action thrillers as it was Maan's collection and talking which was her favorite pass time. In the evening she was waiting for Maan to come so that they could go to Dev's party. He drove in very late but also apologized to her for lateness. She was like I can wait for you till eternity. He got ready and they went to party. While the drive they had a general chat regarding how was her exam and his office and all.

They were all enjoying the party. All the while Geet was just eyeing Maan his looks, his physique, his smile, his gestures but still she was not enough of him. She was in her thoughts when Maan said, "Sapno se bahar aao Geet, I have a surprise for you." Initially she was flushed that how he knew she was dreaming but it changed to amusement when he said about surprise. "Surprise?" She asked with questioning look. He nodded, closed her eyes with his hands and directed her. After some time they stopped and he asked her open eyes and look at the sky. She looked up and saw a wonderful image the crackers were bursting and it looked marvelous but later she knew they were not just fire crackers and now they had started forming words which read I LOVE YOU. Geet couldn't understand whether it was a dream or reality that Maan was proposing her in this unique style. She just kept looking at him when he again directed her look up. Next what she saw made her world of happiness crumble down. Below those 3 beautiful letters it was written Dev.

She couldn't think just a moment before she was experiencing the world's best proposal but suddenly everything came crashing down and tears rolled down. Dev was also flustered; no where he was expecting this as he never knew he was to propose Geet today. This was all planned by Maan and due to this he was late today. Dev came to him to clear out the matter. Geet heard their conversation and got to know that Dev was not involved in this anywhere and this whole thing was arranged by Maan as a gift to Dev. Her heart pierced with the thought that he doesn't feel anything for her.

Geet just looked at him with pain. Maan was unable to see her pain and thought the tears are of happiness. Geet composed herself and asked Maan to drop her home. He couldn't understand what had happened and asked," Geet usse jawab toh deti jao.. bichara raat bhar so nai payega" and gave a wicked grin to Dev. Geet just gave him sad look and said, "Maan please, drop me home." He said"Par Geet..." Before he could complete she said with pleading eyes, "Please" and he couldn't deny her anymore. He drove her back.

Whole drive she was silent and didn't say anything. She gets down and leaves when Maan blocks her way and asks,"What has happened that you didn't even answer to Dev's proposal". She doesn't reply and tries to go but Maan stops her. He is angered due her weird behavior. He holds her from the shoulder, looks into her eyes and asks," What's your problem Geet? I am seeing you since the proposal in the party you are not saying anything. If you don't like Dev you could have denied him. Why the hell are you not talking damn it? Tell me" Even Geet was angry she pushed Maan and said," You want to know the reason right then listen. Yes I don't love Dev and there is nothing wrong with him but I left from there because I couldn't take that someone else had proposed me when I was expecting you to do it. because I Love You.. I just love you Maan… You get it" and she stormed out of the parking crying and went inside the mansion.

Maan couldn't believe what he heard just now. He composed himself and thought" I need to make her understand that I don't love her, not because she is not suitable for me but I just don't believe in these things and. In fact she will be the perfect wife and lover." He smiled at his thought unknown to this feeling which is love and went inside thinking to confront Geet next morning as now she might be disturbed.

Geet cried whole night and left early to Delhi after informing Veer and Naina. She didn't even think to tell Maan before leaving as she was very much hurt. Geet reached home and cried her heart out to her dad," I am sorry dad, I failed you. He doesn't love me Dad. I was wrong in thinking that if we spend time with each other, we could know each other better and also might fall in love before getting married. I thought after meeting me he would never deny me and love me, but I was wrong dad. In these 4 days if there is any change then it's just that I have fallen in love with him. He won't marry me Dad" she was still crying when Rajat Handa said," If he doesn't want to marry you then that means it's his loss and not yours. He won't even find a girl anyone like you. Just forget him child, he is not worthy of your love. I am sorry that I made you go through this hell knowing that there are hard chances of him agreeing. I am sorry, please forgive me Geet." She was unable to say anything so just took his hand and shook her head in negative as if telling him there is no need to feel guilty.

Next morning when Maan got know that Geet had left without even informing him he felt a pang at heart. "How could she go away after whatever happened yesterday?" He felt bad that he had hurt her but soon his ego took over "If she doesn't even feel like informing me before leaving then why the hell should I care for her".

One whole week passed away. Geet was very silent with everyone in her family and she just confined to her room. Rajat felt as if his bubbly daughter is lost somewhere. They all tried to cheer up Geet very much. She also showed them that she is happy and smiling and has almost forgotten Maan but on the contrary nothing had changed, she was pretending to be happy. Maan's case was altogether different. He was trying his best to concentrate on his work, but it was just impossible. Wherever he went, ate, slept he could just see Geet everywhere. He kept convincing himself that may be had hurt her and was under the guilt and that's the reason he just kept thinking about her. But he was nowhere to accept that he has fallen in love with Geet.

About 15 days after Geet had gone Maan got the news from Naina that Geet is getting married. He was shocked to hear this news. His heart skipped a beat. He never thought that Geet will take such step. He started feeling restless as her D day was nearing. He was not able to understand what was happening to him.

On her wedding day his restlessness new no bounds and he was so frustrated that he decided to have a talk with his dad. He told to Veer everything what had happened since start. Veer thought for a while and said," You prat, you are in love with her. You can't take your mind of her, you just think about her, your work is suffering due to this, you feel the guilt that you have hurt her when actually there is no harm in denying any one's proposal, and now you have lost your cool hearing that she is getting married. What else proof you want Maan."

Maan was thoughtless as usual but his next set of word amazed Veer to the core," I think you are right Dad. I always loved her since the day I met her but denied it due my so called thought of Pyaar and Haar ye words Maan ki dictionary mein nahi aate. It has already ruined everything and now I don't want to lose Geet dad." He thought of going to her and confessing his love but then his mind said, "But she is getting married today." As if his thoughts were read by Veer and he said," Don't think about the consequences just go and tell her." This was all needed for Maan to be confident.

He reached Delhi within 3hrs and now he was standing in front of Handa mansion looking at it beautifully decorated like a new bride. He rushed up in the mansion asking everyone, way to Geet's room. He pushed open the door and saw her clad in pink lehenga, she was looking gorgeous, that was the only thought that came across his mind. He shrugged all the thoughts thinking he will have lifetime to admire her and to tell her how beautiful she is.

Geet turned towards door as she heard clicking it open. She saw Maan standing there and felt the ground below her move. She immediately composed herself and said, "Maan what are you doing here?" Maan replied," Geet I need to talk to you it's important". Geet just gave a wicked smile and said," Now there is nothing left to talk between us Maan. I am getting married within 2 hrs and you should not be standing in the bride's room at this hour." He felt a twitch at heart hearing her aloofness. He continued," But Geet try to understand you can't waste your life marrying someone else, when you love me." Geet roared in anger, "That's enough Maan, I am getting married and this reason is enough to love him." Before he could argue anymore Geet's Mom Nisha came to take her down to the mandap.

Maan felt defeated for the first time in his life. He fell on his knees and cried his heart out. This was the first time he had loved and desired with his heart and he couldn't even get it. He somehow collected himself and went to witness the wedding as he wanted to make himself strong that yes finally he had fallen in love and is also been defeated by his own love. Tears of unknown started flowing, seeing her taking the pheras and completing the ceremonies. He was lost in his thoughts when someone kept hands on his shoulder as if assuring him that, it's ok some things don't go in a way we want them to, he turned around and saw his dad standing with some other person beside him. He just hugged his dad not able to control and said, "Dad I lost her. Dad, maine Pyaar bhi kiya aur ussi mein meri Haar bhi hogayi. I think we should leave now there is nothing left here" and started moving when Veer stopped him and asked, "Geet se ekbaar miloge nahi?" He replied," No dad, I can't see her like that standing in front of me being someone else bride. I will pray for her happiness."

Veer was about to argue when he saw them coming towards him and he said" See they are heading towards us, it doesn't' look nice if you don't even congratulate them". But before anything could happen they had already reached there. Both of them took blessings of Veer and the other person whom Maan got know as Geet's Dad. Maan shook hands with the bridegroom and congratulated him and when he was about to wish Geet, Dev removed the sehra and hugged Maan. Maan was dumbstruck at the revelation. Geet got married to Dev. He couldn't just fathom what all had happened. He felt a bile rise in his throat..He thought she had denied Dev then all of a sudden what happened that she agreed and is now standing before him as Dev's bride.

He composed his inner turmoil and said to Dev," Congrats... aur haan Geet ka khayal rakhna, don't hurt her. Always keep her happy." Dev asked," What do you mean? Why should I take care of Geet? Why should I keep her happy?" with his cool expressions. Maan saw his attitude and lost his facade of calmness and caught hold of Dev's sherwani and roared in anger," what do you mean by why you should take care of Geet and why you should keep her happy? You have married her. As a husband its your responsibility to look after her. And remember one thing if this doesn't happen and you dare to hurt her then you have to face me. You get that." Dev was shocked to hear Maan's voice with extreme emotions as normally he was a man of patience and asked," And why are you telling me this and how does it matter to you? You don't even care about her" Maan was still holding on him and replied, "of course it matters to me... Got damn it... because I Lu..." he couldn't complete his statement. He felt his heart will burst open if he stays here anymore. He had many things to say to Dev but he knew now he had lost all the rights to even talk about Geet.

He left Dev's collar and turned to leave when he heard," Because you... what Maan?" He instantly turned back hearing that voice which had created a havoc within him for fortnight listening to it in his dreams and saw Geet walking towards him from the mansion giving a questioning look to answer her. He was confused if Geet was in mansion then who is standing beside Dev and without thinking he lifted the veil of the woman and was shocked to see Meera.

He was able to understand that something is amiss in whatever he is seeing. He felt his life coming back, the choked breath just loosened. He ran to Geet and crushed her tight in his embrace, as if, if he will leave her she will run away. Geet also hugged him back with all her might as if she was returned with her most important lost treasure. They stayed in each others arms cherishing this moment of life.They were brought back to reality when they heard Veer saying," I think you will have lifetime now for this." Geet was embarrassed and tried to come out but he was not ready to leave her and denied through his eyes. She understood his feelings and stood hugging him from side leaning on his chest and his hands went on her waist from behind.

Maan asked in shrill voice, "Dad, what is all this? Dev and Meer's marriage without informing me. Does anyone care to explain atleast now?"

Veer said, "Just chill beta I will explain you everything. So the story starts where me and Rajat wanted you both to get married. Rajat showed your photo to Geet, obviously she liked it but she was of the view that she should get to know you before you both get married. And I knew you will never agree for this alliance as you never believed in this. So I told Rajat to send Geet here. In this way she will get to know you and you both will fall for each other. This exam thing was just a reason. Everything was planned, from Dev telling you that he is in love with Geet to make you jealous, till you dropping her for exam which by chance you on your own asked her and last but not the least Dev's birthday party. But here our plan backfired. We were almost sure that you have fallen for Geet and might propose her in the party. But a bomb was blasted by you. You created that fiasco of proposing Geet on behalf of Dev. Geet was shattered at the thought that you don't love her and she left next morning. That was the time when even I thought that you don't love her but when I saw you getting restless, your uneasiness, you not partying but shutting up in room, you unable to concentrate on business, I knew you love her but a realization was needed along with breaking of your ego which tells, you are so strong and confident that you can never fall in love and never lose. So I and Rajat planned this thing of telling you that Geet is getting married which was actually of Dev and Meera's. Obviously Geet was kept oblivious to our plan because if it would have backfired this time also then we didn't want her to be hurt. So in the morning when you confessed to me that you love her, I informed Rajat and revealed everything to Geet and asked her to play around until you breakdown. Rest all you know." Veer explained everything and took a huge sigh as if he had told a fairy tale.

Maan just nodded and looked at Geet who was beside him. He took the permission of elders and took Geet away from mansion. During the walk no one said anything just walked down hand in hand relishing it. Suddenly Maan stopped turned her around, looked into her eyes which only showed love and said, "I am sorry Geet, I failed you, I have hurt you... I was so lost in my inhibitions that I couldn't even realize that I had fallen in love with you. I will not lie to you Geet but today also it was Dad who made me realize that I love you.
