Part 7
It was a moonlit night, with the moon was hiding behind clouds it looked as if it was shyly stealing glances at someone. The owner of the dhaba looked at Arnav and Kushi suspiciously, he looked at Kushi from top to bottom and turned to Arnav. After looking at them for the longest time he nodded his head confused.
"You people have not run away, have you?"
"NO!" both said at the same time. Then Kushi all of a sudden went closer to Arnav put her hands around his arm and shyly looked at him. Arnav was taken back by her sudden act and stood glaring at her, asking her with his eyes what she was doing.
"Actually bhaia, he is my…he is my husband." She said lowering her lashes trying to seem innocent. "We were going for our honeymoon when our car crashed." She said moving closer to Arnav and resting her head on his arm.
"Really, then congratulations bhabhi, sir congrats. We have a small spare room in the back I'll take you there…on a second thought wait here, I'll have my Mrs get the room ready."
"thank you sir..for going to so much trouble just for us."
"Arre bhabhi, someday I might need your help and I'm sure you'll be happy to help." The owner said with a smile. Kushi feeling guilty smiled genuinely to the man in front of her. Arnav on the other hand was so mad he was clinching his fist to prevent himself from shouting at her. When the man left Arnav turned to Kushi removing her hands from his arm. For a moment he felt a slight regret when he felt his arm go cold.
"What the..?! Why did you have to tell him we were married?" he hissed
"Look what's the big deal, it's just for a night then you go your way and I'll go my way." Arnav thought he saw a hint of sadness when she said the last part but he brushed it off and went back to his ASR mood.
"Fine..But you better not get us in trouble." He said right before the owner of the dhaba came back.
"Bhabi, sir your room is ready" And with that he led them to a little shack at the back of the dhaba. It was really small with a tiny porch overlooking the woods. There seemed to be a hole on the roof and where the windows once were hang thick curtains preventing the wind from coming in. The owner and his wife left the couple outside the room wishing them good night.
After they left Arnav not sure of what to do stood outside the shack staring at the tiny windows the tiny porch and the tiny shack itself. He wasn't sure of what he was supposed to do, what if the shack was as small as it seemed from the outside? Will there be enough space for the both of them inside? Arnav Singh Raizada what have you gotten yourself into?? And what the f*** are you going to do?..
"Oyye hero let's go in.. are you waiting for me to carry you inside." Kushi said after looking at the nervous man in front of her. She could barely see his facial expressions but she heard him breaths becoming shallow not to mention he had stood rooted at the same spot for over 5 minutes.
"Listen, me my sister, our parents and my buaji used to live in a small house like this before out sweets shop made it big. If you're worried about the space then don't be we'll manage." Kushi told Arnav to make him feel better.
"It's not the space I'm worried about, it's…never mind."
Kushi didn't really understand what he meant by that but decided to let him stand there all he wanted. At least she was going to get a good night sleep she thought and went inside. The moment she opened the door she froze by the sight of how the room looked. She wasn't sure what to do so she did what came naturally to her.
"Oyye hero, come look at this."
"what happened?" Arnav said running inside, he didn't make it all the way inside, he stood frozen next to Kushi. The room was decorated with red curtains and candles, on the bed were red flowers arranged to look like a heart. The dim lighting and the red and white curtains made the small and otherwise dull room look cozy. The little hole on the roof let enough light in to create a romantic atmosphere. After standing at the door and staring at the room Kushi walked to the bed and took the red flowers off it, she then took the peanut snacks at the side table sat on the bed and started eating. Arnav closed the door behind him and sat as far away from her as possible. After a long awkward silence Kushi started singing.
"Bahar se koi ander na aa sake..ander se koi bahar na jaa sake..socho kabhi aisa ho to kya hoo… socho kabhi aisa ho to kya hoo" Kushi started, winking at Arnav.
"Hum tum ek kamre mein band hoo aur chabi ko jaye. Hum tum ek kamre mein band hoo aur chabi ko jaye" Kushi continued singing and dancing on the bed. She was enjoying being free and not having to think about her parents or her sister. She went closer to Arnav took his hands and started dancing with him going around in rings, thinking of her childhood days with her didi.
Arnav wasn't prepared for that and was taken by surprise. "Hum tum kahin koo jarehain hoo aur rasta bhool jaye." he half sang pulling her closer by her waist and feeling her soft skin just below her t-shirt. She had been teasing him all this time jumping up and down and showing a hint of her skin. Why he wanted to touch it he didn't know but he had a strange urge to just feel her. Kushi stood rooted feeling his fingers play with her waist her mind and body telling her two different things. Then all of a sudden it started raining heavily and the roof was right on top of them breaking their daze. Kushi and Arnav stepped away and Arnav took a plastic bag and covered the hole. Then he went closer to her and whispered.
"I told you it wasn't the lack of space that scared me." Saying that he winked and went back to his seat leaving Kushi behind to try and get her small brain to digest the information provided to her.
