He may have been out of the limelight for a while now, but Rakshak Sahni definitely isn't down. The actor, who was the original lead in Ekta Kapoor's Kavyanjali, has been waiting for the right opportunity to come his way. After quitting the show, Rakshak spent time with a theatre group, working out in the gym and brainstorming ideas with his girlfriend of four years.
Friends and lovers
Normally a recluse, Rakshak admitted that he was in love and ready to take the next big step with Lizanne, who works with an airline company. "We met four years back, and hit it off as friends. After that we kept bumping into each other regularly at parties. As we started hanging out more often, I realised she was the girl of my dreams."
Lizanne, too, admitted their romance started out with friendship. She says, "I found Rakshak extremely genuine, down-to-earth and caring. He had a strong value and belief system."
So what is the common bond between the two that got them together? "I call him Jumping Jack because he can't sit in one place for too long. Both of us love adventure sports and the outdoors. We hardly spend time sitting at home on weekends," says Lizanne.
Scripting a success
Interestingly, on the work front, Rakshak and Lizanne are planning to start a joint venture in the coming months. "It's too early to give details, but yes, we are working on a script. In fact, we may even start our own production house," says Rakshak.
When is the couple planning to take the next big step? "Very soon. I would definitely want to get engaged to Rakshak. At the moment, both of us want to concentrate on our careers rather than think about marriage."
Even though he has done television, Rakshak is quite clear he doesn't want to do a second lead on any show. "I don't mind doing a daily if I am the lead actor. But if you ask me, then my first love is films. It would be a dream come true to make my debut on the big screen."
Battling the bulge
The actor recently got a makeover after going to the gym and getting involved in intense muscle training. "I love spending time working out. In fact, I have been getting Lizanne to hit the gym as well."
