Samrat and Gunjan were nearly inseparable, and called themselves special friends. They knew each other better than they knew themselves. They cherished their friendship above every thing else on this planet.
But what will happen when these two special friends are forced to get married under unavoidable circumstances? Will they be able to save their friendship? Or more importantly, will the two of them be able to adjust and accept their new relationship?
Join Samrat Shergill and Gunjan Bhushan Shergill on this journey of friendship, love, angst, jealousy and misunderstandings, as they discover each other and rediscover themselves in the wonderful institution called Marriage.
Character Sketch:
- Samrat Shergill: The "dude" of the college. He's a basket ball champion, a complete cassanova and has no interest in his studies whatsoever. He's filthy rich, and his parents fulfill all his desires. His father handles a business in Scotland, and he lives alone in this huge mansion which his father has given him. He has an extremely disturbing past, because of which he's extremely insecure, and averse to the idea of true love and marriage. No one is aware of his past, not even Gunjan.
- Gunjan Bhushan (Shergill): A quiet girl, who was born and brought up in a little known town called Morena. Her mother had passed away during childbirth, and this is why somewhere she blames herself for her mother's death. She buried herself in her books and her studies to try and drown the guilt away, as a result of which she's always topped all her classes and exams.
- Nupur Bhushan: Gunjan's elder sister. Extremely vivacious and filmy, and has to relate every thing in life to a romantic story or a YashRaj movie. She's very protective of her sister, as she feels her sister is too naive and innocent, and anyone can take advantage of her. She also has a very short temper and a very crass vocabulary, and her only dream in life is to find her Raj and experience a classic YashRaj love story! But to her immense astonishment, she found herself falling for the nerd of the university, who only had time for his books and studies.
- Mayank Sharma: An average, middle class boy, who's only aim in life is to study really hard and get a good job and make a lot of money, so that he can let his mother retire and relax in peace. His father was a Major in the army, and he lost his life when Mayank was barely 7. Mayank was an all rounder, and was often called the star student of Excel because of his amazing academic records. Mayank had no time in his life for love or romance, till he came across Nupur Bhushan, who changed his life forever.
- Dia and Uday Bhushan: Nupur and Gunjan's cousins. Dia is a year older to Uday, and both of them study in Excel along with Nupur and Gunjan. Dia is really pretty, and is an aspiring fashion designer. All the guys in the college are after her, but she's not looking for a serious relationship. Uday, on the other hand is really slow, and all he can think about is food, and how can he find his Princess Diana! Both are very close to Gunjan and Nupur.
- Shashi Bhushan: Nupur and Gunjan's father. He loves them a lot and has tried to fulfill all their wishes after his wife died. He loved his deceased wife a lot. He's a strict disciplinarian, and has always been rather proud of his name, respect and status in the society.
- Benji: Samrat's best friend and confidante. Closest to Samrat after Gunjan, and often helps Samrat out when he's in sticky situations by taking the blame on himself.
- Sheena: A late entry in the story. Highly beautiful and self obsessed, she's every man's desire, but she only had eyes for one guy: Samrat. She absolutely loathes Gunjan, because of her immense importance in Samrat's life. Dates Samrat for a certain period of time in the story.
(Characters who's names are in green are the ones who I have fiddled with a bit, to make things a bit more convenient for me.)
A/N: This is my first attempt on a MJHT FF. There are some things that are canon, but there are a few obvious differences in the plot lines. Also, since this FF will be focusing on SaJan's life after marriage, both of them need to have a past that defines their characters. How Samrat and Gunjan help each other overcome their inner demons and let go of their past is a major part of the story, and it is in this process that they will discover their love for each other.
This fic will be mainly romantic, and it will have a bit of angst and drama in it as well, because of Samrat's (slightly) dark past. I'll try and incorporate comic moments in it as well, but a lot of my friends say that my jokes suck, so I don't think I'll be very good with incorporating too much comedy here! There will be a bit of MaYur in here, but the fic is mainly a SaJan one!
I'd like to warn you in advance that I'm a bit like Nupur, which means I'm VERY filmy. So don't be surprised if you see certain scenes that resemble actual movie/soap scenes that have taken place.
My story picks up from the holi sequence, with a few minor changes, which are as follows:
- Mayank and Nupur fessed up during the holi sequence, and now both of them are in a relationship. (much to the relief of everyone around them!) Unfortunately, they haven't stopped fighting!
- Dia is NICE to GuNur, and she doesn't really mind them so much. She's a good friend of theirs.
- The holi sequence has happened right before their exams, so the story starts when the semester has just ended and GuNur are going to Morena to meet their dad, and for Chinky's wedding.
I've fiddled with Samrat and Gunjan's past a bit to add a bit of angst to the story. According to the show, GuNur's mother died some time AFTER Gunjan was born; but in this fic, I killed her like immediately after Gunjan was born. Bhui is the same old khadoos lady we know (okay I've made her WAY more khadoos here!), who loves her nieces a lot but is very strict.
I'd like to dedicate this entire fic to one of my besties here on IF. Jenny (Jen_ILoveAR), if it wasn't for you, I probably wouldn't have written this fic! You introduced me to MJHT, SaJan and MoNaya, and look where I am now! =P Not to mention the fact that she actually helped me out in creating a major twist for this fic, without which the fic wouldn't have been able to progress! So thank you so so much Jenny! *hugs* A special mention goes to Manjari (Manjari1104)! She's the one who encouraged me to publish this!
