"Knower of God becomes God"
This statement sounds simple and clear enough.
To know means to understand and experience.
The door is not closed to those that do not believe in a God or some Super Power or Aliens.
How can this statement be best interpreted ?
Where do we start ?
What is God in the broadest definition ? To my mind it is not just an individual, feeling, energy, goodness, intelligence or emotion but very much more so; perhaps we should call the sum of that ideal an "X".
God = X
Find the value of X
Some Mahavakyas would help perhaps: "Sarvam khalvidam Brahman"

God has a very deep n may be very long definition...

well, a part of it can defined by each one of us!
Someone rightly said, " Many have thought that this word represents divine, unconditional, self-sacrificing, active, volitional, and thoughtful love. Although the word does not have specific religious connotation, the word has been used by a variety of contemporary and ancient sources "

God is a big mental support and also the one who'll (in some or the other way) keep us reminding what we did/are doing is wrong or right ; the one who directs us about all kindza mannerisms or ability to think what is right or wrong from other humans also (parents, teachers, society)...
also, in our holy books by the Gods of every religion, God directs a person to be in limits of humanity!

Yes God is also referred to as the voice of our conscience and also someone who comforts us; if not, we can go mad easily.

Yes.
I also like this one very much, from Isavasya Upanishad
hiranmayena patrena satyasyapihitam mykham
tat twam pushann apaavrunu satya dharmaya drishtaye.

hiranmayena patrena satyasyapihitam mykham :
'The face of the Supreme Truth is covered by a golden disc.'
One prays, O "surya" golden sun , O controller of everything, remove this
golden disc that covers your face, so that I, who love the Truth, may perceive It!'

Yes within us is the first place to search for the One.

Submission of mind is the surrender of the ego.
It is said that the mind has to be "killed" or anhilated. Not sure how this works though.😆 but I guess the path gets clearer as we travel.

But Maya is indeed hard to conquer and overcome. It is like a vicious dog.
However, befriending the owner Maya will not bite.

But without some trace of ego our stay here will end. When lights flood the theatre the pictures on the screen disappear.

The Path of Knowlege and the Path of Devotion are most popular.
Ramana Maharishi and Nisargadatta Maharaj are great teachers of self enquiry. Devotion ripens to knowledge.
Everyone agrees that Truth is only a witness. At rare times we may experience the formless state but it is often too brief.

Yes.
Mind is basically ego, separation, desire and attachment.
I think when individuality is exchanged for the universal and separation ceases liberation occurs. Till then we have to pray to a Higher God, least the ego causes havoc.

The moment we wake up so does ignorance too.
But as spirituality develops the world will seem less real and we are less affected; but still there is a danger of falling back. Senses and desires can sprout in different ways.

Actually this statement is incorrect in a way.
" Knower of God becomes God"
That is because God can never be known.
Best we can do is to know ourselves.
It is said that everything is God but God is not everything.
Arjuna tells Krishna that whatever Krishna says so will it be and it is pointless to trust his own eyes.
Quote:
Arjuna responded: "What you say is the truth for me. You can make a crow into a dove, or a peacock into an eagle. Why should I differ from what you declare? Your word is the truth I go by." Arjuna had realized that the five elements were nothing but God's slaves and would unfailingly carry out His command.

I think ppl can be Godly bt cant be God... and it better don't try to know God, otherwise you will fail and there will be gr8 frustration...dont seek God ... all search leads astray, becos the search starts from the very false idea that, He is separate, that He is far away, that He is somebody else..etc & God cannot be reduced to an object..
