Shootings in schools sound like an everyday event in USA.
Still they never ban guns ?
Is it because these corporations selling guns are funding the politicians ?
Just like the cigarette companies.

Ohio teen charged over US school shooting

Friday, Mar 02, 2012

WASHINGTON - The Ohio teenager accused of America's latest tragic school shooting was charged on Thursday with three counts of aggravated murder and two of attempted aggravated murder, a prosecutor said.

The charges against TJ Lane, who gave himself up and confessed to police after Monday's shooting spree at Chardon High School, were filed in a juvenile court but prosecutors want to see the case transferred to the adult arena.

Minors are not eligible for the death penalty in Ohio but the teen could face life without parole if convicted in an adult court.

"Lane was charged with three counts of aggravated murder for killing three of our children, two counts of attempting aggravated murder for injuring two of the children and one count of felonious assault," Geauga County prosecutor David Joyce told reporters.

Lane allegedly fired 10 shots from a .22-caliber handgun on Monday on a group of teenagers in the high school cafeteria, hitting some targets in the head at almost point-blank range while other students ran for their lives.

He then fled the scene, chased by a teacher, before giving himself up to bystanders a short distance away and being apprehended by police.

One victim died hours after the shooting. Two more succumbed to their wounds on Tuesday. A fourth victim remains in a serious condition in hospital, while a fifth, the only girl shot, has been released back to her family.

Shocked residents have struggled to comprehend how tragedy struck in their close-knit Ohio community of 5,100.

A picture has emerged of Lane as a troubled boy who lived with his grandfather after his father, who had a history of domestic violence and served time in prison, was warned by police to stay away.

"On Monday February 27, a senseless act of tragic violence shattered the hearts of three families and forever changed this community," Chardon schools superintendent Joe Bergant told Thursday's press conference.

No motive has been determined but the prosecutor told reporters earlier in the week that during his confession to police Lane had said that he picked his victims at random.

"This was the effect of one lone gunman. He chose his victims at random. This is not about bullying. This is not about drugs," Joyce said Tuesday. "This is about someone who's not well."

The next court hearing has been scheduled for March 6.

Judge Timothy Grendell has tentatively scheduled a March 19 court date for an expected motion from prosecutors to transfer proceedings to an adult court.

There must be plenty of psychos in USA then ?😆
But easy availability does make things more dangerous.
Singapore Travel Guide for USA citizens:
Carrying Firearms: There are strict penalties for those who possess or carry arms, or who commit crimes with arms. Singaporean authorities define "arm" as any firearm, air-gun, air-pistol, automatic gun, automatic pistol, and any other kind of gun or pistol from which any shot, bullet, or other projectiles can be discharged or from which noxious liquid, flame, or fumes can be emitted, and any component thereof. This definition also includes any bomb or grenade and any component thereof. The unlawful possession of any arm or ammunition, including a single bullet in your luggage as you transit the airport, could result in imprisonment and caning. If you are convicted of committing a crime with an arm, you could receive punishment which could result in the maximum penalty of imprisonment for life and caning.

It is not politics, it is the second amendment.

I'm personally against guns by principle, and the fact that guns are sold freely in USA bothers me. At the same time I know the principle as to why this amendment is there. So any solution to our gun problem has to balance security with constitutional bill of rights. It is not an easy task.

Well it is a pretty tough one to tackle when the law allows it. In some ways perhaps a Gun culture.
Armed robberies are more common in countries that do not ban guns.
Perhaps if civilians owning guns were only allowed to buy rubber bullets it would make a big diff.

All the rubber bullets in the world won't take away teenage angst and frustration.

All the rubber bullets in the world won't fix irresponsible and unhealthy upbringing.

All the rubber bullets in the world won't fix desensitization to violence and pain.

Gun violence is merely one channel in which disturbed people express themselves. By taking away that channel you merely redirect that angst and violence to something else – suicide, suffocating and dismembering small animals, violent outburst towards younger siblings and other children.

The real solution to gun violence the likes of Columbine is trying to find what makes teenagers unhinged then developing plans to prevent it and detecting the violence and angst before it gets worst.

Armed robberies are a different class of crime than deranged gunmen. Armed robbers would get the guns outside a legal market if they want to. There is no statistic correlating gun control vs armed robberies or gun violence. If that was true Switzerland (which also allows guns) would not have such low gun violence rate and they barely have armed robberies. After all it is not a product of the gun, but the one who bears the gun.

Thanks. Could not have said it better.

A gun in hand is better than a cop on phone in the case of crisis.

There is a bit of Potential madness in everyone, we just have to keep it in check and not let it trigger.
Being madly in love with someone is pretty common but when this relationship is threatened some may go bonkers and start shooting.
