Grounded!

Inder Kumar's Dhamaal team was stuck at Udaipur airport for over four hours

Bollywood actors Ashish Choudhry, Arshad Warsi, Ritesh Deshmukh and Javed Jaffery were stranded at the Udaipur airport for more than four hours recently. The actors were to fly back to Mumbai, but their flight was delayed due to incessant rain.

The actors have been shooting for Inder Kumar's laugh riot Dhamaal in Udaipur. Sanjay Dutt is part of the team too, but he left earlier in a chartered plane. "The rest of the actors were to leave with Sanju in the chartered plane, but the shooting schedule was extended, and they all had to stay back. Sanju left because he had urgent work back here," says a close friend of Dutt.

When contacted, Ashish said, "Yes, we were stuck and it was terrible. We were supposed to leave by a Jet Airways flight at 7:30 pm, which was cancelled. Then we decided to leave by an Air India flight, which too was delayed by two hours. Finally, we boarded a flight which came via Ahmedabad. To kill time we chatted with each other, but we were really mad at having missed the World Cup semi-final match due to all the delay."

Finally, the actors landed in Mumbai at midnight. "As soon as we landed, we realised that the rain has been creating havoc here too," he says.

Since the monsoons arrive in Udaipur only after mid-July, director Inder Kumar had organised the outdoor shoot of his film earlier. "Yet on the last day of the schedule, it started raining there and we had to complete the shoot in the rain. We had thought we would be able to finish on schedule, but we couldn't. I guess we all are helpless when it comes to natural calamities," says Ashish.
