Actor Mahhi Vij claims that her role in 'Akela' has shades of the superstar
Model-turned-actor Mahhi Vij who plays the street-smart Meghna in 'Akela' (Sony) will be seen in the show next week. Although it's a plum role of a girl who assists Sudhanshu Pandey (Ranbir), a supernatural sleuth, Mahhi was initially skeptical and had declined the assignment. "I felt that 'Akela' was a male-dominated serial and the female characters would hardly have any scope. But when Yash Patnaik convinced me that it was a bubbly avatar of Preity Zinta, I grabbed it," admits Vij.
Mahhi is tight-lipped about her role. She reveals hesitantly, "Meghna is window-shopping with a close buddy who then gets killed in a bomb explosion. Somehow she senses a supernatural element. Nobody believes her version except Ranbir. He's supportive because he can see what others cannot." She continues, "Gradually their acquaintance turns into a professional rapport because Ranbir realizes that Meghna is intelligent and observant. She starts assisting him on a regular basis."
Is Mahhi scared of ghosts in real-life? "It may sound crazy but I could not sleep the whole night when a TV channel announced that there is a ghost somewhere who drops in after midnight to have tea and biscuits. While watching horror movies I even tend to scream along with the film's characters," shares Mahhi.
Not content with her brush with the paranormal, Mahhi is considering saas-bahu serials. "It has always been my dream to be part of saas-bahu soaps in a lead role. I love watching 'Kasamh Se' and 'Saat Phere'," says the actor who apparently shares a special rapport with actor-writer Shashank Dabral (of 'Shaadi Ka Laddoo' fame).
Incidentally, Mahhi played the rape victim in the Malayalam film 'Aparachithan' opposite the South superstar Mammotty. She has also featured with Amitabh Bachchan and Rohit Roy in a commercial.
