This is an appreciation thread for the most under-rated performances of the past decade. This is to appreciate the so called "smaller stars" but much "bigger actors". The supporting actors who when given the chance, have shined in their respective roles.

My personal favorite is :

Anupam Kher in Maine Gandhi ko Nahi Maara : I would rate it as a top 5 performance in Indian cinema. Many people felt he should have won the national award instead of Bachchan for "Black". He did receive the special jury award but the movie, a very well made one at that, largely went unnoticed. A fine performance that only an actor of Kher's caliber could have carried out.

So which performance of the last decade is the most underrated one?

All of them are under-rated. Difficult to choose from.

Nice poll. There is this set of actors who are truly actors and not stars. They may not be able to command an initial at the BO but never disappoint as actors. These actors too have a true passion for their craft and hence do not chase money or media visibility. I have only watched Khosla ka Ghosla, Gandhi My Father, Bheja Fry, Peepli Live among these. I felt Vinay's acting and Bheja Fry as a movie was overrated. My vote goes to Raghuveer Yadav in Peepli Live.

Kriti Malhotra - the girl who played Yasmin in Dhobi Ghat. I loved her performance. She played her role with much more grace and sincerity than both Aamir Khan and Monica Dogra.

Gracy Singh - She was phenomenal in Lagaan. I wish she was still around. I still cannot believe that Bipasha Basu won the filmfare best debut award that year beating gracy. W*F.

Will think of more.

I totally agree with this one. Loved her, and hope to see her in more films.

It's difficult to choose one from the list. Pankaj Kapur was never underrated, in that everyone accepted that he was a good actor, but he rarely gets good roles. I was so happy when he made a 'kind of comeback' with Maqbool.
