GEC Watch: Star Plus, Sony add GRPs

However, Colors witnesses a drop of 15 GRPs in the current week.

Star Plus and Sony, which continue to rule at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, respectively, in the Hindi GEC (general entertainment channel) genre, are the only two players that have witnessed an upswing in their GRP ratings.

Star Plus has scored 298 GRPs, up from previous week's 273 GRPs. Its relative channel share has also moved up from 21 per cent in Week 6 to 23.1 per cent for the week ended February 18.

According to TAM (C&S 4+, HSM), Sony, at the second spot, has garnered 210 GRPs - a one-point upswing over its previous week's ratings. The relative share of the channel has also increased from 16.1 per cent to 16.3 per cent.

Colors, at No. 3, witnessed a drop of 15 GRPs during the week - slipping from 208 GRPs in Week 6 to 193 GRPs in the current week. Its channel share, too, saw 1 per cent drop (from 16 per cent in the previous week).

Zee TV continues to be at No. 4, with its relative share standing at 13.8 per cent, down from the 15.5 per cent share gathered in the previous week. Also, its GRPs have decreased substantially, from 202 points to 179 points in the current week.

The rest of the rankings remain more or less similar to the previous week.

SAB TV is at No. 5, with its relative share stable at 10.9 per cent. The channel's GRPs have, however, moved down from 142 points to 141 points.

Life Ok continues to be at No. 6 with 78 GRPs (down from 87 GRPs in Week 6). Its relative share, too, fell from 6.7 per cent to 6.1 per cent in the current week.

Imagine TV is at No. 7, with a relative share of 4.5 per cent (4.4 per cent in the previous week) and 58 GRPs (up from 57 GRPs in Week 6).

DD1, at No. 8, has acquired a channel share of 3.5 per cent as compared to 2.5 per cent in the previous week; its GRPs have increased from 33 GRPs to 45 GRPs in Week 7.

Sahara One is at No. 9 with 3.4 per cent channel share, as compared to 3.5 per cent in the previous week, and 44 GRPs, as opposed to 46 GRPs in the previous week.

STAR Utsav is at No. 10 with 2.9 per cent share, as compared to 3 per cent in Week 6, while its GRPs have decreased marginally from 39 to 37 this week.

Diya Aur Baati Hum (Star Plus) leads the list of the 10 most-watched programmes, clocking a TVR of 6.12, followed by Is Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon and Saathiya Saath Nibhana (Star Plus), with TVRs of 5.24 and 5.08, respectively.

Meanwhile, Colors' Uttaran has once again entered the Top 10 list. The show stands at No. 4 with 4.44 TVRs in its kitty. For the record, Uttaran was part of the Top 10 list in Week 44 of 2011.

The fifth most-watched programme is Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, with 4.19 TVR. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (4.18 TVR) and Crime Patrol (3.92 TVR) follow next.
