Hello there! I am very glad that SGP is showing a very typical mindset that working late or during the night is "bad" maybe not for the person but for their "izzat".. but isn't time to widen the horizon?😊

I am thoroughly enjoying SGP these days and I am really interested in how they will conclude this "serial" track because its main factor is close to home for many of us - shift work!! YES In the past I have done late-night shits and my parents were ok because they knew my job demanded it. However, there were people who "taunted" them by saying "how can you let your daughter work late or do a night shift?" Of course this would upset them and they did say to me "could you not ask them to give you just day shifts?" my reply was "we all have to take turns to do night shifts, its a part of the job. The manager makes a rota to ensure everyone gets a fare share of the late-night shits, so one cannot personally demand for a specific shift! Basically you either do the job or you leave!"

As paying the bills is important, you have to do whatever job comes your way so you don't always get a choice to say NO! Should one NOT WORK because they MAY have to do LATE-NIGHT shifts? Just THINK what would happen to all the Hospitals, Airports, Care/Nursing Homes, Prison workers, Security Jobs, Taxi-Chauffeuring services, Hotels, Restaurants, Rehab centers, Factories...the list goes on an on. The fact is in this day and age there are lots of jobs that require professional cover 24hours a day, 365 days! I think its about time the people's (the ones concerned) mindset changes regarding these type of jobs! Its NOT THAT BAD and the people who do them are very dedicated professionals.⭐️ Late-Night shifts are tough so I salute them for working unsocial hours to provide service for the public!! 👏👏

SGP is depicting a very realistic approach to this very infamous matter and I am very impressed with their exhibition and portrayal. Lets hope this can at least show that a job is a job, you have to to do what it demands. The job pays you not the other way so you have to respect its authority!

P.S. Please I'm purely talking about jobs that are socially and economically accepted NOT about the ones that are not!

Well , when it comes to the profession you describe most of the people or good majority accepts that . Yes may be 30 years back it was a tabo , but not anymore . This scenario is SGP is slightly different , as although all of us enjoy serials movies but how many of us would allow our daughters or sons do this job ???? This is the question I often ask myself , "would I allow my daughter to do that " , and I am afraid of getting a hypocritical answer !
I was the first one in my family to study abroad ( even when I was married as both of us came to study first) there were some question marks about " what's the NEED" but luckily things changed and now almost all the girls got professional degrees in my family .
I hardly do nights , but sometimes I had to
. My husband do a lot of nights , he always says " If u were in my field I would have preferred you doing nights so that you could stay home during the day", as he says it's quite practical for women , after sending the kids school they could sleep !

By the way good posts one after the other ! You are on a role !! Good to see you back .

TV - MOVIE Industry is the most Baadnaam Industry in the world . People may not remember the one good incidence but they certainly will remember all the bad once . I have heard so many incidences regarding the actors - Actresses & Not to mention people who work behind the camera . Not a good one say the least . So Yes , Rano too is worried abt all the things that can go bad in the line of work . V the gossip incidences , right or wrong affect us specially those who live in middle class families . Those r the once who live by Society 's rules & regulations . [ Rules r not written in stone ]

World has change since I was young . But there r still stories in Tabloids that brings us the worst news from the industries . [ Even though there r some in the world who spread worst news abt themselves ( God knows Y ) ] but as I said , V always remember the wrong stories than right one or happy ones .

My last Job , I used to work at night . My hubby was OK with it . My In - Laws were not . They were worried as what if something happens to me while on way back or what if someone hurt me ? V [ both of Us ] tried our best to have talk with them to give them piece of mind . which clear the doubt in their mind .

As for would I want My DIL or Daughter to work as Actress ? I might b not comfortable at first but I m willing to see things from her POV. As I hope she also see My POV . V have to walk a mile in each other's shoes. I would also offer to stay with her while she has to work . If she let me I would follow her every where [ With her consent ] Not stalking her though.

As for My child working at night? [ Any where ] Well , Job is job . but I would prefer Day . I give my POV but end of the day they have to make a choice .

For me , What is most important for me ? Nothing is important to me than My Family . There is nothing I won't do for them . give up a Job I love in a heart beat . Without shedding a tear . Never once utter what I did for them . I won;t do anything My Hubby is not happy with . Nor would he . End of the day , V have to make a choice what V want .

Good Post Sheemu..I don't have any problem with night-shifts, if my husband takes it occassionaly, as a wife I am OK with it..If I am in mother position also I don't have much problem..

But my husband doesn't like women doing night - shifts...In his view it's not safety for ladies.I don't know if his views will be same if he in father position or not, but now as a husband he is against of it..

My choti-saas DIL work as nurse, she does go to night- shifts some time.. After marriage she started studying as nurse staying away from family and between she got pregnant and a child..

My MIL doesn't like this.. She just told me why there is need of studying when there is a little kid in the house and staying away from him... As DIL her first duty is towards her child and husband..

But My choti saas and her husband has taken care of the child alone.. She used to come home once a month like that .. She completed training and Now working as nurse and living in joint family, the boy sleeps with his dadi rather than with her mother..Even though living in joint family she got MIL and her husband support and now she has no problems..

So it depends on how much support you are getting in the family especially from parents, husband and in laws.. If they are supportive then no problems..

I have clearly seen clealry the views difference of my MIL and choti-saas, even though both are not much educated, came from middle-class families, both views and thinking are different... Same way my husband is educated than his brother, but thinking wise some much difference..

Coming to SGP, I don't have any problem with my kids going in TV/movies, but i will try to accompany them, if they want... But I am sure my husband won't like it, so decision will be in my husband court...He is just like Rano thinks about reputation and others views..

Sheemu Nice Post... 😊
I don't have problems with Night Shifts... Though I have never done night shiftsreally... but when Came to US... during student life when working... Sometime I used to ger Late from Job...and which My parents were aware about... They either didn't had issue... I also had chosen evening class during one of Summer Vac... and I used to reach pretty late [midnight] at home... My Mom sometime used to call me after I leave just to make sure that I am ok... for her Satisfaction... 😃
The only concern My Mom had was... being a Girl.. please make sure about Your Safety... and Which I believe and AGree with her 100%... Being a Girl if I were to do Night Shift... I wud consider my Safety first... My Roommate used to work in Night Shift... but her Traveling was not safe... We all asked her and confronted her to Leave it... and She did coz she herself found it Risky... 😊
So, For me Safety comes first then anything.. 😊 My Husband and in-laws are pretty much supportive if I want to do soemthing... and indeed they will make me strong... as they most of the time do😊
I have lived in India... and Everyday we hear about Woman abuse increasing... If I wud be at Rano's place... I wud worry for Suhana's safety more than anything... and wud make sure that She is safe when she comes late from shoot... 😃

Yet you watch TV ? One of my friends is a make up artist, nothing wrong with her career, late night or whatever. She has a family, thats supportive and is very successful. Are there bad people in TV? YES! But most are not, people like to talk about them and their fame, and defame it. Thats all. But yes if you work in TV, stage etc be prepared for people to gossip about you.

Yes Di, its is much better than it used to be but there are still lots of people who change the way they look at someone because they do night shifts, especially if it happens to be a girl. For me a job is a job. When you accept the job, you accept all the terms and conditions as well as all the good and bad factors that come with it. So if it needs to be done, then so be it, why should people judge someone because they do late/night shifts?
I personally do not have any issues with any of my family doing such shifts if their job demanded it it. If they can cope and manage well, then that is whats most important.
