Bollywood Soundtracks are Stingy

These days the average soundtrack for a movie has six songs on it. If there isn't that many songs in the movie they should get some singers, bands, to make some original music for the soundtrack, something that reflects the movie or carries the spirit of the film. It doesn't have to be featured in the actual movie, just fill up the soundtrack with a little bit more tracks. Another way to add some more titles in to the album is instrumentals, they are doing a little bit of this right now, add some dialogue tracks, some instrumentals, just give the consumer a little something more for their money.

These days due to piracy I guess they dont make money out of the music seperately. Maybe thats why they are stingy with the number of tracks. But Rockstar had 14 tracks.

Meh I disagree. You can't force a song out of a film when there isn't one. A soundtrack can be 3 songs or 13 songs it doesn't really make one or the other more valid. It's really up to the film itself and composer

Mausam, Ra One, Bodyguard, were pretty generous with the amount of tracks. Rockstar was based on well...a rock star so it had to have a lot of music.

I think there are a lot of talented singers and bands in India that are not too well known that they could get for real cheap to add some music to the soundtrack. Some prefer quality over quantity, even with six tracks, you will have maybe 2-3 decent songs. If there is at least 11-15 songs there might be 5-6 decent songs.

No need to force a song, fill it up with some instrumentals, dialogue tracks from the movie, they just skimp out way too much. Some movies have better instrumentals and themes throughout then actual songs, add those in.
