Yea i was thinking the same!! But maybe its cos it was done without actually telling the family that they were gonna get marry

I think they wanted to have a huge celebration for Arnav's wedding because he is the eldest son, and because he has finally fell in love with a girl that the family... or most of the family (excluding Shyam and Maami) would accept as the elder daughter-in-law of the house.
