A loved leader? Or a feared leader? - Page 2

The point is that most people let others lead because they are feared. Others might let them lead but never appreciate them. So, you take the lead and all, but not all your followers appreciate you for what you're doing, ever. Some are jealous, some are following out of fear, only a few love you for what you're doing, and respect your acts.

I'll give you the example of my favorite teacher. She is this mentor to me, a most admirable figure I know. Most of my classmates dun like her, because they think she acts in a very haughty manner, like she's better than everyone else because she speaks perfect English. Only a handful realize how amazing and supportive and warm she is. But when she comes to conduct her classes, everyone no matter how much they dislike her, they are all TOTALLY quiet. And that's sadly because they fear her, not everyone sees how much she thinks for the welfare of her students. As far as jealousy goes, every teacher at school dislikes her, they have issues with her authority, her way of conducting her classes. It's only natural, she shouldn't be getting the respect she really deserves. :)

Tell you what, if you worry about what your acts would be taken as by your people, you wouldn't be able to do them in the first place. So, a leader is not supposed to care about their work's reception when they do take command, only, over time, they do command respect, and that a handful may give em, others might not. But in any way you see it, effectiveness out of fear is as good as no effect at all, cause, you are not making a real difference that way. :)
