Chapter 12
"How unpredictable and indifferent is this life we are granted? Just about a little time ago she was just a shadow, so far and now she is right here, so near..." Ram had been admiring a sleeping Priya for quite a while; after all he had the right to do anything here, in his house. Even if that meant creeping into ones room.
It was a wonderful night, but one he couldn't enjoy. He was beat from all the surprises thrown at him from the past few days and yet it was just too unbearable to close his eyes without seeing her, without knowing she was sleeping peacefully.
The distance between them was tormenting at times and enjoyable the other. He reflected back upon the time when she stepped into his house after a moment of hesitation. She had been scared a bit not knowing what they will ask of her, but she had met with nothing other than happy embraces, jovial moods and an uplifting ambience. It was a relief that his family was understanding of everything happening in his life and never questioned about his past or his present actions. They had their share of questions brimming in their eyes but it was to be dealt later on.
She had been adamant about not spending the night in his house; she had termed it "inappropriate" before marriage. Ram was thankful that his family was there to force her decision around. Indeed very much happy that she had been accommodated to the room right next to him or else how could he enjoy being captivated by this sleeping beauty.
Ram moved towards the bed and placed a light kiss on her forehead careful not to wake her up. She needed rest, both from the physical and emotion turmoil she had gone through...
"Goodnight Priya!" He said in a hushed voice hoping it would penetrate into her dreams and wishing that she only had dreams of him and nobody else's. Wishing that he would be there in to protect her in her dreams as well here after...
~Next Morning~
She had dreamt of him. Even though she had frequent dreams of Ram all those nights she had spent without him, this time it was more serene and tranquil. There was no darker side of it, just pure love.
The rays had started to spread its warmth on her delicate skin. The soft breezes kept caressing her constantly trying to pull her away from the dreamland but she was in no mood to open her eyes. She wanted to look at him a bit longer; she did not want him to disappear as soon as she opened them.
"Don't you think it's time to wake up darling?" A slight peck on her cheeks and she was dragged back, not into a cruel world, rather a much more dream like reality.
Priya did not realize whether it was the moment or she really did see him for a while standing right near her.
"What are you doing in a lady's room without permission?" Priya replied without bothering to move. She felt herself flushing at the thought of him seeing her in her night clothes.
Ram noticed this and moved closer near her ears. "Why? After all you are my to-be-sexy-wife." She flinched a bit as his hot breath passed into her ears and made her all red in one go. Oh how he loved to tease her! Ram chuckled before finally moving away as Priya hid herself with the blanket.
"Can you get ready or do you want me to help a bit?" Ram offered his help knowing he would meet up with a flat refusal.
"I...I can do it!" She spoke finally controlling all her senses that were going haywire with his one action.
"Okay! I will be out waiting for you..." Ram started walking towards the door but stopped for a while turning around to see her holding onto the blanket more tightly.
"And by the way, there would be a day when you can't hide from me like this. No bed sheets, no boundaries, just you and me." With that he was gone leaving a dumb-founded Priya.
"When did Ram become like this?" She was having a tough time believing that he is the same person who had no time to speak out two lovely words for her...
...
The whole day had gone by in a state of frenzy. Apart from their little meeting in the morning Ram and Priya did not find any time to be alone. The wedding preparations had begun and it appeared as though a tornado had hit the Mansion. Piles of designer accessories and clothing were brought in under strict orders of Niharika. Though she could not move around the house, she made sure her room alone was enough.
It wasn't only the Mansion, but the wave of sudden excitement had hit the media even. They had been flocking around the gates since the word had got out that, "Ram Kapoor was finally getting married!"... And it did not help the fact that the bride is suspected to be "partially blind"... The whole incident had been twisted and exaggerated in different ways by the channels and presented to the hungry audience. They were indeed demanding for full media coverage of every event to be held, but Ram had declined there and then. This had turned out to be more chaotic than he had ever imagined. But he was adamant to make this ceremony private and memorable for Priya not traumatic in anyway. The last thing she needed was the pressure from some people hungry for the latest news!
Priya had been dragged around the house while Ram had followed her every where careful enough not to be noticed by the crowd of people surrounding her. Ram needed to see her across his eyes every moment, he needed to fill in the gap of all those years and yet it was never enough... It would never be enough in this lifetime at least...
"Won't this look nice on you?" An excited Natasha asked of Priya, while a confused Priya just kept on touching the jewelries kept across her.
"Oh! Sorry Priya... I forgot that..." Her voice had trailed off while Ram saw a glint of sadness come across her face.
"It's nothing. Leave that ... Why don't you choose for me? After all you are a designer, you would know what's best and not right..." She had managed to bring across a fake smile pushing behind her sadness... She indeed wanted to feel the excitement of her own wedding but somehow it all seemed to vanish at the instant somebody blurts out the absolute truth nobody can defy.
"Choti! Ma is calling for you." Ram hurried into the room with some excuse understanding what was going in Priya's mind.
Natasha made her way out of the room and Ram managed to shoo all the people left in the room with some reason. As soon as they were alone he went near Priya who was sitting right in the middle of the bed with all the jewelries surrounding her.
"What do you want to wear on out engagement day?" The sudden question took her aback, yet she managed to answer as if nothing was wrong.
"Natasha said she would choose for me and anyways she would be more experienced in all this, I really have no taste in fashion."
The minute she finished the sentence Ram lifted her off the bed, making her sit near the dressing table. And before she could react, she felt his breath fall on her nape, moving near her right ear... She remained still as if any movement would ruin the moment...It was then she felt something cold wrap around her neck...
"It's your favorite color... Green!" He was still too near for her comfort but as soon as the realization drew upon her as of what he was doing, she felt tears prick her eyes.
Ram took her hand slowly and made her touch the diamond studded necklace.
"It is just like you. Elegant but simple... And it also has my favorite color mixed in... Can you see Priya, through my eyes?"
Priya turned herself around and hugged Ram as tears streaked down her face. Ram just held onto her...
"So shall we finalize this one then?" Ram asked wiping away her tears.
"Yes!" Priya smiled through her tears, thankful of gifting him in her life... There could be no one in the world who understood her better than him... No one!
