The DID team has been always pushed the envelope in getting the finest talent from India and abroad to share their experience and hone the contestants dance skills. They have dedicated this Sunday's 'Mahashivratri Special' episode to highlight the traditional Indian dance forms and choreographed acts that will depict scenes from Indian and Western mythology to all viewers who have been anxiously waiting to see Indian dance forms presented on the DID platform. Veteran classical danseuse, Dr. Sonal Mansingh was an apt choice for the special episode being one of India's most celebrated Odissi dancer and choreographer.
Mohena from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh and Vaibhav from Mumbai, both from Remo ke Rangeeley depicted the scene from the Ramayana where Ravana clips Jatayu's wings in an epic fight. It was the first aerial act for Rajkumari Mohena Kumari Singh who enacted the role of Jatayu. Dr. Mansingh was mesmerized with their co-ordination and display of emotions in dance. Varun from Bangalore and Piyali's from Siliguri (West Bengal) depicted the story of Shiv and Sati along with Sanam and Mohena's touching display of emotions as Jesus Christ and Mother Mary were spellbinding. Dr. Mansingh loved Master Terence's choreography where he gave a modern hip hop twist to Kanha and Sudama's friendship. Pradeep Gurung from Guwahati, Assam as Sudama and Sneha G from Delhi as Krishna, were a treat to watch as they danced to Dil Chahta Hai's title track.
Masters Remo, Geeta and Terence gave Dr. Sonal Mansingh a standing ovation for sharing her valuable insights after each performance. Post the shoot, An enamored Terence Lewis posted on his social networking site, "Met a danseuse, a living legend. Dr. Sonal Mansingh on the sets of DID. What a diva, articulate both in thought and motion. Knowledgeable, sensitive and humble."
Grandmaster Mithun Chakraborty said, "For the uninitiated, let me tell you that Dr. Mansingh's understanding of mythological choreography is the best in the country. She has been responsible for giving Indian mythological dance acts a global platform. Her presence has been one of the most humbling experiences in the history of Dance India Dance so far."
