It was their wedding night. The first night for Khushi in the Raizada Mansion as Khushi Singh Raizada. After a lot of shouting and crying, Anjali has finally escorted her to Arnav's room. She had made her sit just like she saw brides sat on the bed in films. As soon as Anjali left the door, closing the door behind her, Khushi's head dropped onto her knees.
She thought about all that had happened over the past few days and just couldn't believe it. The tears rolled out of her eyes and soon there would be enough to provide enough water for the whole RM.
As soon as she heard the door open, she looked up to see Arnav. He gave her a filthy look before heading off to the bathroom.
Khushi walked off and went out to the poolside. She quietly stared into the sky. It was a cloudy night and all she could see were a few tiny stars that didn't shine and twinkle much. The two big ones she looked at everyday and chatted to were not there. Her amma and bauji had gone. Left her all alone. Just like everyone else did. Just like how Garima, Babuji and Buajee had. Just like how the whole Raizada family had. Just like how Payal jiji had. And just like how Arnav had.
But now Khushi decided there was not point being scared and crying. She walked back into the room. She had no clothes to change into so she took off the dupatta and jewellery. Arnav was already lying on the bed.
Even though he tried to hide it, he still loved Khushi. He still cared for her. And all he could think of right now was that she was scared of the dark, she was scared of sleeping alone and she always had stars above her bed.
So without any emotion, he dryly said "You can leave the lamp on and you can sleep on the bed" But Khushi ignored him and went and switched all the lights out and slept on her own on the cold hard floor.
Yes, that felt right. Brave and Alone. She shut her heart and her eyes and slept peacefully.
