Who did BETTER films? RANI or KAJOL?!

Your Question is who did better films.. I'd say Kajol 'cos I can watch n re-watch Kajol's movies for her performances alone, yet over-all I prefer to watch a udar ki zindagi, baazigar, ye dillagi, DDLJ, Sapnay, Dushman or Gupt even MNIK over say movies like Hey Ram or NKJ or KANK .

There are a couple of movies of Rani's I like Hum Tum and Black(though unlike the majority I thought another actress would've done greater justice to the role!)

I also dont think Rani is more watchable in her bad films - notably ones like Bichoo n Badal n her ones with Govinda

There is something about Kajol, an amazing screen presence and a natural style that always tempts me to watch a Kajol film while I cant say the same about Rani (As I already feel bored of her performances) though there was a time I enjoyed watching her on screen.

So in the long run, its Kajol for me!

I'm a fan of both although I've been a Kajol fan since forever. Rani has more variety and is more versatility while Kajol has that screen presence that is hard to ignore

but I prefer Kajol

I love both but had to choose Kajol :D Her energy , her acting , her screen presence just takes away every thing :D

Kajol's energy and screen presence cannot be matched. And she never did inconsequential roles, even in the masala movies that she did, she had as much screen time as the male leads. She refused a lot of roles when they weren't meaty enough for her. Like Terenaina said in one of the threads, kajol is the only actress who could refuse an aamir khan movie.

I don't think she overacted, overacting is what kareena did in MPKDH or Khushi, but kajol's acting was in sync with the melodramatic 90s.

About Rani, her offscreen persona has this melancholic mystery to it, just like Katrina Kaif and Rekha. I like Rani in roles which have depth! I think she even adds depth in roles which are pretty superficial, like her character in KKHH made no sense, but she was good in it. Even in yuva, she added a lot to that character. Rani rarely underperforms or overacts, she is a pitch perfect actress, acc to me. Some roles for which rani has been been bashed.. are DBH and NOKJ.. somehow i even ended up liking her in those roles.. she rarely disappoints me.
