Nupur was impatiently pacing around her drawing room, again and again glancing at the wall clock which was moving at a snail's pace. Finally today Mayank was coming back. She could not wait for him to return, she wanted to see to make sure he was alright. The phone call last night made her more anxious to meet him, as now they had shared and also entered into friendship. Suddenly realizing that he was her friend, another worry took over.

"I could have arranged some gift, a friendship gift, he would definitely cheered up .. I ..

She was mumbling all this in a low voice when the knock on the door interrupted her and she turned to find him standing.

He was finally there. His eyes staring at her and his face gaining that stability and composure she always wished for. He was there and Nupur realized she missed him much much more than she ever thought

The happiness of her heart travelled to her lips and she smiled, "good evening", her voice getting weak due to the over whelmed feelings, and eyes suddenly started sparkling due to tears of glee.

"Good evening", he replied back with a subtle curve of lips and walked to sit in front of him. He was aware of the constant and endearment filled gazes he was being awarded off, but he knew how much he missed her. After talking to her that night, he wanted to be with her, talk to her again, but couldn't make it too, maybe heart was assured that I do have to meet her.

"how are you?", nupur was still intently staring, she wanted to directly ask about his pain but couldn't make it to that, and sitting on a distance of a view feet, he could actually read every emotion evolving in her eyes, but he managed not to look directly, "I am fine, how are you?"\

Nupur was truly taken aback by the question and blinked her eyes, "umm, fine ", she smiled and mayank plainly nodded.

For a moment he was disliking this awkwardness that developed due to their phone call, he couldn't remain that stiff because one night earlier he was crying with her, telling and sharing with her his deepest woe.

"can I see the 100 questions", he finally decided to move on from personal questions and use study as a shield.

"umm .. questions ..", nupur was surprised, as if suddenly reminded of something.

"what?", I asked you to do them day before yesterday", he observed her carefully

"yes you did, but I am sorry, I just .. ", she fumbled and looked up, "I just forgot, I was too tensed about you", she bit her lip on this revelation and Mayank didn't know how to react for a moment, "tense about me?, why?, we did talk right!", he said on a spree and suddenly Nupur looked up. His eyes directly demanding approval and out of nervousness, she could just nod, "yes we did talk, but still I was ..

"you should have completed your work!", he said strictly, suddenly the responsible teacher inside him taking over and nupur pouted, "I told you I was tensed about you!!"

"u could have called me again if you were worried", he glared back and Nupur was taken aback by this sudden offer and the very next moment, Mayank reconsidered the offer he made.

"umm, I mean, you should have done your work, you did talk to me and I told you I am fine", he said quickly opening his book and Nupur suppressed her smile, she knew it was a slip of tongue, but it said his heart.

"I am sorry, I'll do them tonight and submit them tomorrow", she said softly, carefully observing his nervousness.

"do them in parts, 50 tomorrow and 50 day after tomorrow, 100 in a day is too much", he spoke carelessly, scribbling down something on the notebook and Nupur again couldn't help smile, "okay sir", she said sweetly and Mayank handed her the paper, "these are just some important general knowledge topics, I want you to read up on this"

Okay", she said quickly going through them, "and also I want you to start solving the previous exercises we've been doing"

"okay", she replied noting down .quickly,

"with that there has to be a neat list of all the formulas"

"okay", she said still writing

"a list of all the vocabulary words we've been collecting"

"okay"
"collect all the essay reviews we did again"

"okay"

"and we'll be starting model Sat exams by next week"

"okay"

"and thank u for being there "

"ok ..

Suddenly her pen stopped because what she wrote down was, "thank you for '", she kept on staring at those words and then she looked up, he was leaning on the table, arms folded and placed on the table, eyes intently looking at her, and lips curled up into the most heavenly smile of the world.

"thank u nupur", he smiled again, this time his smile reaching his eyes made nupur sigh, she even forgot to respond in the selfishness of embedding his smile in her heart. This was a seriously serious matter. She just realized that she could do any damn thing in this world to earn this smile. Any damn thing!.
