Bollywood seems to going through a good patch. With Fanaa, Phir Hera Pheri and Krrish hitting the box office jackpot and many biggies lined up for release over the next few months, there is a positive buzz in the industry. The current spate of hits seems to have rejuvenated distributors' confidence.
The films ready for release stand to benefit from this positive mood. And the first to bask in this new found optimism is Vishal Bharadwaj's Omkara. The film featuring Ajay Devgan, Saif Ali Khan, Vivek Oberoi and Naseeruddin Shah along side Kareena Kapoor and Konkana Sen has reportedly received an offer of a whopping 5 crore plus rupees figure for Mumbai territory alone and a humungous 4 crore plus rupees for Delhi – UP and Punjab territories.
The producer of the film Kumar Mangat confirmed the news to trade journals. This means that the filmmakers can now recover their investment just from the Mumbai, Delhi – UP, Punjab and Overseas rights. And if the trend continues, it sure is good news for filmmakers.
