I am usually a silent reader on this forum...actually this is my first post..😳
I wrote this OS a month ago, when they first started the Sangeet track, but i have modified it so that it is slightly after Payal and Akash's wedding. I'm sorry for the switching between writing like a play and a story, and the switches between past and present tenses. I hope you guys like it...
In spite of Shyam's ridiculous plans, the wedding happens without a hitch. One or two days after the wedding, the Raizadas are throwing a big party in honour of the new couple and Anjali has asked Khushi to help her with the preparations at RM. Khushi has dinner at RM. The whole way through, NK, who is sitting next to her, has jokes with her. Arnav who is opposite her is very tense, jealous and keeps giving her glares. Shyam too is extremely uncomfortable seeing the joviality between Khushi and NK. As it's getting late, Anjali suggests that Khushi should spend the night at RM in Lavanya's old room. Shyam is delighted hearing this as is NK.
NK: wow Di'that's a great idea. Khushi ab tum bhi ek behmaan sorry mehman ho is ghar mein, meri tarah.
Di: Mehman kya? Tum dono is ghar ka hissa ho!
Khushi: ji. Hum buaji ko phone karke bata dete hai.
Akash: ermm Khushiji, ermm, iski koi zaroorat nahi hai. Meh phone karloonga.
Everyone smiles to themselves at that
Di: Ha ha..ab buajiko sirf unki damaadji phone karega. Kyu Khushiji
Akash blushes furiously and leaves. Everyone gets up to leave the table. Khushi goes up to Anjali:
Khushi: Anjaliji, lekin mere kapde.
Anjali looks at her a little confusedly.
Khushi: mera matlab hai..meri paas dusre kapde nahi hai yaha pe.
Anjali: tum chinta mut karo..tum issi suit me so jao aur subha Payalji aap kiliye dusre kapde lekar aagi.
Khushi smiles. Anjali turns and goes'Khushi to herself.
Khushi: lekin iss kapde me mujhe kabhi bhi chen se neend nahi milengi.
She is unaware that Arnav has witnessed the entire conversation'
Later that night. Khushi is in La's old room sitting on the bed saying something to her Devi Maiyya. A knock at the door.
Khushi: Devi maiyya..hum apse baad me baat karte hai.
Knocks again
Khushi: ha ha..hum aarehe he.
She opens the door. Naya Prakash is at the door..a little taken aback by her shout. He's holding a pile of clothes.
NP: Khushiji'yeh aap kiliye hai.
Khushi: Mere liye? (a little perplexed. She takes the clothes from NP and looks at them)
Lekin yeh to Arnavji ki kapde hai
NP: Ha Arnav bhaiyya ne kaha ta aap ko yeh tshirt or pant dene ki liye. Inone kaha ta aapse kehne kiliye ke aap issi kapde me comfortably so sakte ho.
Khushi: lekin me esi kapde'nahi. Mujhe yeh nahi chaiyeh
NP: ha..Arnav bhaiyya ne yeh bhi kaha ta ke aap zaroor inkar karengi aur kapde bister pe rak dena chaye. Teek hai, ab me chalta hu
Khushi: mouth forming a perfect 0.
NP: Khushi ji
Snapping back
Khushi: Ha..dhanyavad. NP leaves.
Uss Laad Governor ne yeh kaha. Hum yeh kapde ab zaroor pehnoongi and grabs his clothes and goes to the bathroom. Taking off her own clothes she puts his on. His T-shirt is massive for her and almost reaches her knees and the sweatpants'everytime she puts them on they slip off again as they are way too big for her. Holding them up with her hands and with a huff she takes off her shoes, undoes her hair and climbs into bed.
Khushi: hai devi maiyya'ek bister ke liye itne saare pillows! Iss ghar me sab kuch inki jaise hai. Baade ghamar, Baade bister, baade pillows, baade t-shirt! She tosses and turns but is unable to sleep as she is scared of sleeping alone. She has left the lamp on by her bedside table as she is scared of the dark. The curtains have not been pulled completely.
Anjali and Shyam are on their way to their own bedroom when they pass this window..
Anjali: yeh dekho. Khushiji neh yeh light switch off karna bhool chukki hai or yeh light inko kitna disturb kare hai. Khushi is tossing still.
Hum abhi aate hai
Anjali goes into Khushi's room and switches the light off. She then whispers good night and leaves. As the door shuts, Khushi's eyes fly open. It is dark except for a small light coming from the window. She turns her head that way and sees Shyam staring at her intently, a sick smile spreading across his face. Seeing his expression, Khushi suddenly feels a sickening feeling of fear coming from the pits of her stomach. She turns her head away, scared. After a few moments she looks again to see Anjali walking away with Shyam, who keeps turning back and staring at Khushi'with the same sick smile on his face.
Khushi puts her hand to her brow and felt stickiness as a bead of sweat rolls down her cheek. She was suddenly absolutely terrified of being on her own. And the room was dark.
Khushi: Hai devi maiyya raksha karna'raksha karna.
She clenched the edge of the duvet and shut her eyes tightly. But the image of his smile kept flashing before her eyes.
Khushi: khushi, ab tum himmat rakhna. Kuch nahi honewala hai.
Curling up into a ball she snuggled into position and inhaled deeply. The all too familiar smell coming from the clothes was strangely relaxing, soothing'as if assuring her that He was there with her. She drank in his scent, slipping into her dream-world that was dominated by his perfectly chiselled face. Yet that image of his creepy smile kept invading her thoughts. Tossing and turning, and having muttered 'raksha karna' she finally fell into a deep but troubled slumber.
************************************************************************
Arnav woke up with a start. Once again, he had been dreaming about Khushi: her smiling face taunting him as it faded away from his sight. He sat up in bed and flicked the switch of his bed-side lamp. Pausing for a second, he reached out for the glass of water he kept on his table and slowly brought it to his lips.
This was the third time tonight that he had woken up that night. Sighing, he got out of bed and stood by his big French windows and stared at his haven, his pools-side. He would have to do something about these sleepless nights and made a mental note to call up his doctor. Snapping back to reality, he noticed that his glass had emptied, and, putting on his slippers, he snuck out of his room to refill his glass.
On his way to the kitchen, he thought he saw a shadow near the window of Khushi's room. It was a man. Arnav felt his insides tighten: a mixture of feelings rushed through his body- protectiveness, possessiveness, jealousy.
Arnav (to himself): yeh zaroor NK hogi. Voh aaya hoga, Khushi se chupke milne.
In his usual style he marched through the hallway, making enough noise for the person at the window to jump up in fear and scurry away. As he was going, Arnav turned the light on and saw his face.
Shocked
Arnav: Jijaji'aaap? Aaap iss vaqt khushi ki room ki baar kya kar rahi ho?
Nervous..extremely nervous
snake: voh'voh..saale saab. Me..voh
Suddenly composing himself and back to his sickly-sweet, snakeji voice
Snake: haaan. Me aur Rani Saiba soh re thi jab hamne ek avaaz suni. Mujhe laghta hai ke khushiji ko koi bura sapna hora hai'voh need me chilla rehti. Toh hum bas yaha aya dekhne kiliye ke sab teek hai na.
Arnav relaxes a bit but still feels slightly suspicious about this.
Arnav: acha teek hai. Ab aap bhi soo jao. Voh teekhi hogi
At just that moment, Khushi lets out a terror-filled scream followed by a desperate cry
Khushi: ARNAVJI'..ARNAVJI humme bachaye ARNAV
Shyam and Arnav look at each other'both equally shocked. Arnav slowly turns his head towards the window and sees her panic-stricken face thrashing against the pillow as she tosses from side to side.
Arnav: me isse sambhalogi'aap di ki paas jaye
Snake: worried that Khushi might blurt something out to Arnav in this state: lekhin aap kaise'mera matlap hai aap inki kambre mein'iss vaqt. Sab kya sochengi. Hum rani saiba ko boolaloongi'vo inki dekhbaal karengi.
Arnav: firmly. Nahi. Mujhe laghta hai ke Khushi bahoot dar gaye hai. Me usse sambhaloonga'aur koi kuch nahi kahenga.
Snake: registering Arnav's tone Snake decides to back off. Teek hai'a goodnight
Arnav: good-night.
Snake sneaks away again'stealing one last glance at her face through the window. Arnav meanwhile goes to her door and opens it.
In the doorway:
Arnav: very softly'huskily (the voice he should use with Khushi in the bedroom;)Khushi
No response. He looks at her, thrashing about in her bed; tears streaming down her face as she rolls her head from side to side.
Again she calls out his name in her sleep'but this time it is much softer. In a broken voice she mutters his name. Suddenly she screams again and kicks with her legs and in the process kicks the duvet onto the floor.
Arnav, watching all this has a scared expression on his face and moves towards her bed. By knocking her covers off, she has inadvertently exposed her shapely, slender, milky-white legs. The far too big sweatpants had fallen off long ago. Khushi was wearing just his t-shirt, and in her state, this had ridden up so it was barely covering her thighs. Arnav stared at her'her beautiful, silky hair was strewn across her pillows, forming a shiny black haze around her face. One arm lay on her stomach while the other was stretched outwards'beating the pillow to her right as she continued to thrash about. His eyes travelled downwards and suddenly aware of her semi-dressed state, he averted his eyes and bent down to pick up her duvet and covered her up again, taking care not to look'No matter how much self-control it took. Moving so that he was now standing right beside her'he hesitantly called her name again.
A sudden light breeze blew in (from nowhere as usual) blowing a loose strand onto her face. He watched as her face twitched at that touch and he softly called her name again.
This time she slowly opened her eyes, one by one and looked up at him.
Khushi: (weakly,barely audible) Ar...Arnavji?
Arnav: (gently)'Khushi
Khushi: Desperation in her voice. 'Arnav...Arnav' (and grabbing his hand she pulls him close to her and throws her arms around his waist..sobbing into his chest.
Automatically Arnav lifted his arms up to encircle her and pulled her closer to him. Rubbing her back with one hand, he patted her hair with the other and then slowly sank down so that he was sitting on the edge of the bed.
Khushi: still holding him tightly'as if her life depended on it. Arr..arnav ji. Aap ko kitni cho..'aur..khoon..aur mein. Pulling away from him slightly she looks at him with tear-filled eyes and cups his face in her shaking hands. 'Aap theek to hain na..
Arnav: (gently) Shhh...Khush..shh. Mein bilkul theek hu. Mujhe kuch nahi huwa. He lightly brushes away her tears with his thumb and gently pushes her head back to his chest..resting his own on top of hers.
Arnav: (soothing) Khushi..its ok. Voh sirf ef bura sapna tha. Tujhe ya mujhe kuch nahi hua. Shh..he rocks her gently in his arms as she continues to sob into his chest.
Khushi:sobbing Mein..mein..aap. Voh aaya tha..aur inonhe mujhe..aur phir mein aapko pukhar rehi thi..aur aap..aur aap aaythi mujhe bachaa..bachaane kiliy..aur voh. Voh aapko maar ne laga..sab (voice breaking as she sobs)'sab meri vajha se..aur aapko itni saare chot. Aur voh aapko maranevale thi..aur...aur
She sobs harder and harder and clutches his shirt tightly. Arnav keeps rocking her and shhing her..whispering soothing words into her ears till her sobs finally subside.
After some time
Arnav: softly Khushi?
Khushi: hmmm
Arnav: Khushi..ab tho tumhe daar nahi lagra hai nah
Khushi: (very quietly, almost to herself) Iss jage peh humne kabhi daar nahi lag sakta.
Arnav hears😉
Arnav: Ab tum so jao, bahoot raat ho chuki hai aur kal tum bahoot takheli hogi.
Moving her away slightly he places both his hands on her shoulders and gently lowers her head back down to her pillow. She still hasn't let go of her tight grip on his collar. Arnav tucks her into her bed and leans over her body slightly to pull the duvet in closely from that side.
He turns towards her again and softly removes her hand from his collar and gently caresses her cheek while looking into her beautiful, tear-glazed eyes. Hesitantly, he turns to go when he feels a soft hand hold onto his arm.
Khushi: rolls her head to the side'a lone tear trickling down the side of her cheek. Mut jao...mujhe chor ke mut jao
Arnav feels his heart tugging. Turning round again he looks at her. Her eyes were urging him, willing him to say. Suddenly he remembered that she was afraid of sleeping alone.
Arnav: tumhe akele soni ka dar hai..na.
Khushi just nods weakly.
Letting go of her hand, Arnav makes his way to the other side of her bed. Khushi thinks he has left her and lets out a weak sob. Suddenly, she feels a strong hand on her shoulder and looks round to see Arnav sitting up next to her on the bed, slowly turning her towards him. Gently he pulls her towards him into a tight embrace, his arms wrapped around her back, rubbing it as he whispers sweet nothings into her ear. Slowly she falls asleep, lying partly on his firm body.
After some time, Arnav is still awake...absent-mindedly running his fingers through her silky hair. Suddenly he turns his head a little bit, and he sees the faintest flicker of the movement of a silhouette retreating into the shadows again. Just as quickly as it came, it disappears again. He could have sworn there was a person out there; but unwilling and indeed unable to get out of his current position he brushes the thought aside and slowly falls asleep himself; the tip of his chin nestling itself in her hair.
They lie like this all night; her lying on top of him, one hand wrapped around his waist and the other stretched out on the bed, her fingers entwined with his.
****morning*****
Finally together, Arnav and Khushi make up for their weeks of sleep-less nights thinking of each other and have fallen into a deep and peaceful slumber.
Anjali and the rest of the Raizadas assume that Arnav has just gone to the office early but cannot work out why Khushi is still asleep.
Payal: yeh Khushi bhi na...
Anjali: hum Khushijiko uthane jaaogi
Shyam (aware of what had happened last night and conscious that nani and anjali are currently tyring to hook up Arnav and khushi) NAhI...
everyone looks at him curiously
mera matlap hai..aap kyu takleef uthaogi...voh apniaap niche aa jayengi
Anjali: (smiling at him) aap bhi na. Hum to sirf khushiji ko bulaane jara he hai. vaisebhi hume aaj party ka kaam karna hai
She goes upstairs before anyone can stop her. Shyam also follows as he wants to see..
Anjali knocks on the door.
No response
She knocks again..after no response again she opens the door slowly and enters. Opening the door brings in a sudden gust of wind, and Khushi stirs a bit, snuggling up to Arnav murmuring something.
Anjali lets out a slight gasp at the sight before her. She is torn between the feelings of absolute horror at the scandalous sight before her (india remember) and struck by the seamless beauty of their bodies lying entwined together. She had never, in 15 years, seen such peace and contentment on her Chote's face; finally bringing the tumultuous, turbulent storm raging inside his tortured, tormented soul to a still. A tear rolled down her cheek as she watched Khushi move her head slightly so that it rubbed against the faint stubble on his chin causing a small smile to spread across the sleeping Arnav's face.
'Perfect,' she whispered to herself. Quietly she slips out of the room and makes her way to Nani's room, bringing her to see...
Nani gives a scandalised gasp before a smile spreads across her face.
Nani: chote ki chehre peh humne aise sukhun kitni saalo seh nahi dekhat hai.
Anjali: ha nani, voh khadoos Arnav Singh Raizada nahi, bilkul hamari chote ki tarah dekhre hai.
Suddenly they notice that both Arnav and Khushi are stirring. Not wanting to intrude upon this, or be caught out, Anjali and Nani leave the room and move to the window where they can see into the room. As they approach, they are surprised to hear footsteps hurriedly retreating away from the window and come face to face with Shyam who has a look of unmasked fury upon his face.
Anjali..about to speak..but Shyam brushes her aside and storms off angrily to his own room.
Anjali: inhe kya huwa
Nani: ee baat chor...dekho
The ladies peer into the window and are met with the vision of Arnav gently taking hold of Khushi's shoulders and rolling her over so that her head is now on the pillow. He disentangles himself from her, placing her hands on her stomach. He then picks up the covers and tucks her in...stopping to look at her face. Trance-like as always, he tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
Feeling his touch Khushi murmurs arnav's name in her sleep.
Arnav: shhh..bending his head slightly he kisses her lightly on the forehead and then moves to kiss each of her eyelids in turn. Stroking her forehead he whispers
'ab tum aram se so jao' before crawling out of bed and walking towards the door.
He gives her one last look before turning the handle and leaving.
Nani and Anjali look at each other; shocked. They had sensed that Arnav was harbouring feelings towards Khushi for a few days now, but this level of gentleness from their angry, bitter, batameez Chote surprised even them. The intimacy between the two also suggested that this had been going on for a long time.
The events of the past few months suddenly flashed before their eyes:
Arnav announcing his wedding to Lavanya...Khushi's insistence that she wouldn't come back to RM, Arnav's return to angry, bitter ASR almost as soon as he announced his wedding, his anger and desperation to make sure she never came back, Khushi hiding her engagement news, Arnav's strange words on that night, Arnav concerned for Khushi when she didn't answer the phone, Arnav breaking his engagement with Lavanya so suddenly, Arnav's constant anger with NK, madhubala's words, then the dance at the Sangeet, the kiss on the cheek, the bangles
and suddenly it all made sense.
Looking at each other with a mixture of excitement and shock, they were both about to start enthusiastically planning things when they heard Shyam's voice behind them.
He was talking to Arnav
Shyam: toh saale saab...kal raat tumne tik se sambhala na
Arnav: (a little shiftily) haan..Khushiko meine sambhala
Shyam: aur phir..?
Arnav: phir kya...uske baad me apne kambhre me chali gaye aur so gaye
Shyam: acha
Anjalli: suniye
Arnav takes the opportunity to get out of this awkward mess and walks off to the kitchen.
Anjali: aapko vishvaas bhi nahi hogi jo mein aapko batanewali hoon
Shyam: (knowing perfectly well what she's going to say) kya baat hain rani sahiba
Anjali: humare chote ko pyaar hogaya hai
Shyam: Kya
Anjali: poochongi nahi kisse
Shyam (feeling very uncomfortable) kisse?
Anjali: Humara chote ko Khushiji seh pyaar hogaya hai
Shyam: yeh aap kya bole jarehai. Aap to jaanti hai na ke saale saab uss larki se kitna nafrat karte hai...phir bhi aap
Anjali: nafrat kab pyaar mein badla...voh khud bhi jaanti nahi hogi. Lekhin me apne chote ko jaanti hoon.
Shyam: acha...chalo hum manleti ke Saale saab usse pyaar karta hai. Lekhin Khushiji? mujhe poora yakin hai ke voh saale sab se kabhi bhi pyaar nahi karsakte hain.
Anjali: kyu? acha hum bhi manleti ke in dono khi beech bahoot khuch huwa hai. Phir bhi, ek saat kitna khush lagta hain. Meine apni ankoon se dekha hai ke Khushiji chote ki saat khush hai, or khushi hogi
Shyam: lekhin uska matlap tori nahota hai ke khushi saalesab se pyaar karti hai. Kitna boori tarah se saale sab ne uski saat pesh aya. Office ki building se giradhiya, guest house mein pecha jaha pe uski jaan bhi ja sakthi thi, bheech raaste peh chor ke chala gaya aur najani aur kya kya kiya hai
Anjali: (hesitantly) lekhin..aap...aap ko yeh sub kaise baata hai?
Shyam( snapping back into reality) hum...hum...aapi neh to bataya hoga
Anjali: lekin uss vaqt aap kaam se ja chukithi. Aur chote ne building se giradhiya...yeh baat to hum khud bhi nahi jaanti thi.
Shyam (caught out) nahi...bata nahi..mujhe to laga ke aaphi nahi bataya hoga. Kheriye..chodiye yeh sab baate. Hum nashta khatam karlete hai
Mami has overheard this conversation (remember in the earlier episodes she was suspicious of Shyam)
Mami: hello hi bye-bye. Ab yeh damadji ko ka hui gava
uss phatti sari ki bare mein itne sab janat hai
I would greatly appreciate comments..positive or negative from any of you who have read this 0S so I know whether or not anyone wants me to continue. Please like if you have enjoyed this story.
