Raizada family surname confusion

If Arnav and Anjali call their grandmom 'Nani' that means that She is their Mom's mom. So how come Akash, Manorama and all the others are also Raizada? Surname blooper?

Arnav took his mother's maiden name after his chacha kicked Anjali and him out of their house when their parents died. His father's last name was Malik. Lol, I had the same confusion until my sister showed me the first episode. I think I must have been too excited to watch a new show to notice that little bit (plus they never really refer to it again.) 😊

Yep...Same with Khushi and Payal.. Their moms were sister and still both of them are guptas...

As I remember, Arnav is going with his mom's surname coz he's disowned his dad.. Anjali is Jaa, as in Shyam Ja 🤢 And maama is ASR's mom's bro. Hope this clears out. 😊

That's true... I wonder how they can explain this. Unless both sisters were married to Guptas considering it's a fairly common surname.

Or maybe Khushi was adopted legally by her aunt?

Akash is her cousin...but she just calls him a brother as that is a common tendency in Eastern cultures. We usually greet our male cousins by calling them 'bhai'
