She gets nostalgic when she talks about him and recalls back the early days of her life spent with him. "My father is really tall. When I was just 2 or 3, I'd try and pass through his legs and he'd clamp my neck as I did so thus generating a huge howl from me. He had this bike, which I loved to ride. At one of our postings, my Dad taught me how to drive. I was 13 then and was petrified. Besides being a doctor, he is a trained painter and singer. He used to be called the singing surgeon when he performed at the shows during his army days. I've inherited a fondness for singing from him. Another vivid memory is of him looking at me while he sang on stage. If he didn't look at me while singing I'd get very angry. Sometimes, he used to call me to join him on stage to sing." After Priyanka won the Miss World pageant their life changed. Her father was reluctant about her joining modeling but Priyanka and her mother convinced him somehow. The rest is history! She moved to Mumbai along with her mother and her father and brother followed them later. He joined Leelavati as the managing director along with her mother. It's a moment of crisis in her life now, as her father gets ready for another major surgery next month owing to cancer. Since the past few months Dr. Chopra has been coping with ill health. Though 'Krrish' has released recently, it's the fate of her father, which is bothering her right at this moment. On the persuasion of her dad she continued to work and never let the stress show on her face. She is happy that her profession provided her with enough money to take care of her father. "He visits me on the outdoor locations to spend time with me. He came to London when we were shooting for Dharmesh Darshan's Aap Ki Khatir. The fresh air and greenery there did him a world of good. He goes into surgery next month when I'll be shooting in London for Love Story 2050. But I will visit him," she wraps up. |
