so here is the first part of this fic. If anybody has a link to any MaanVeer video on Allah Maaf Kare, please do let me know. I'd love to see it!
part one
------
Uday braced himself against the frames of the large window, looking out at everything and nothing. It had been over a week since Manyata had been brought back home, since he had brought her back home, and while she was not outright rude to the elders of the palace, it was the complete opposite in her interactions with him. A part of him was amused at her volatile reactions to him, her threats and taunts, and even her violence - but there was a part of him, buried deep inside where no one knew, where he refused to even acknowledge, that ached. Her words, her refusal to accept her role and his part in her life, they hurt him deeply.
Once upon a time, they had been best friends. The oldest two children of the royal families, inseparable - it had been Manyata and Udayveer, Udayveer and Manyata. Where one was, the other was sure to be. And that little boy who had lost his best friend and playmate all those years ago cried somewhere in his heart for having her back, so near and yet so far, because she did not know him, did not remember him. She did not remember all the times they would sneak out into the garden to pull out flowers for Daadi Saab, she did not remember the times he had convinced her to climb onto the various pieces of furniture to play at superheroes. She did not remember him.
He hit a hand against the window frame before turning around in frustration, running his hands through his hair. He pushed his feelings to one side, annoyed at the fact that the mere thought of the woman could have his carefully cultivated character crumbling. He was Udayveer, Yuvraaj of Jaigardh. He did not let trivial matters like feelings get into the way of his goal.
She did not want to acknowledge their engagement, instead professing her love to that lower-class boyfriend of hers. Uday's fists clenched at his sides. She could deny it all she wanted but it would not change the facts.
Fact 1: She was a princess, Crown Princess of Rajgarh, and no matter what the fairytales say, princesses do not marry paupers. That boyfriend? Pauper.
Fact 2: Uday was her fiance. They were to be married, Daadi Saab had decreed it. And no one went against DS.
Fact 3: Uday did not share. And whatever Manyata may think or do, the truth of the matter was that she had been his since the first time he laid eyes on her when she was newly born. She had been his best friend and confidante. She had been his, and she still was.
Fact 4: He did not lose, ever. And he would do whatever it took to make sure of it. She was his, dammit, and she was damn well going to learn it and live with it.
"Things are going to change, Princess," he said to his empty room. "Tum Rajgarh ki Rajkumari ho, aur jisse tum kehti ho ki tum pyar karti ho? Woh toh kahaa ki bhi nahin. Shaadi toh tumhaari mere saath honewali hai, aur yeh haqiqat koi nahin badal sakta. Khud Bhagwan bhi nahin." He smirked.
"Let the games begin."
