Nice thread Varun!
I feel the preamble to the Indian Constitution sums up perfectly about Republic Day especially the beginning and ending of the preamble.
(As we all know, the constitution, though signed in November 1949, was officially enforced on January 26, 1950, since the Indian National Congress had been celebrating that day as Independence Day since as early as 1930)
In memory of the day when we got our rights, our identity, our own set of laws, our own rules of governance, the most lengthy constitution in the world- everything- to enable us to lead a civic life- happy republic day to everyone! As the saying goes, 'Ask not what your country has done for you, ask what you have done for your country'- may we give back, in any little or small way, to India- if not by anything major, then by simply being law abiding citizens ready to take a stand when the need arises.
