Actress Amala Paul, who will be seen onscreen after a brief hiatus (Deiva Thirumagal was her last release) is all excited about her upcoming flick Vettai, which hits the screens this Pongal. Ask her about her character in the film and she confidently says, "I play a glamourous village belle," and adds, "The last time I played a village girl, it was a serious, intense character in Mynaa. This time around, I play a very fun-loving, bubbly and romantic girl." The USP of her character, she claims is, "her love to pick fights".
The film will feature four songs picturized on the actress. "I have three songs with Arya and one song with Sameera," she reveals. Ask her about the Pappapa... number and she says she had a blast shooting for the song, "It is such a fun number and all of us had a lot of fun during the shooting of the song. The song is already popular and I am sure it will be a big hit once it hits the screens too," she adds.
Vettai, which also stars Sameera, Arya and Madhavan along with Amala Paul, will incidentally see the actress shake a leg for the very first time. Quiz her if she was nervous about dancing and she says, "No, I have been learning to dance right from the time I was a kid. I was so happy I finally got a film where I could dance." So, was Raju Sundaram a tough taskmaster? "He is a thorough professional and he will not rest till the sequence he planned comes out perfectly and to his satisfaction. Although exhausting, I did enjoy the dance sequences a lot."
On her chemistry with Arya, Amala gushes, "Arya is such a fun person to have on the sets. In fact, it is very difficult to get him to be serious. Even during an intense, emotional scene, he'd crack me up and we'd end up laughing. But, he's a great friend. My chemistry with him is better off screen than it is onscreen."
