Can Mental Illness Justify Cruel Acts?

Viraj is a fictional character but he is a real person with different faces who exists in real world ---sad fact. Viraj does have a mental illness which is obvious, and I think a lot of things from his past caused this. I am assuming he was abused as a child, isolated, bullied, or even worse things.

I am not justifying Viraj here or people like him. All I am saying, is it Viraj's fault that he has a mental illness? You want to hate Viraj but you can't --not because he's hot lol but because you sympathize with his terrible condition. But again there's another person who's completely innocent and did not deserve all the cruel abuses at all -- Janvi. You want to kill Viraj for vicitimizing her.

So basically if you see the situation in a way that neither viraj nor janvi is at fault, then who is? If you forgive Viraj keeping his mental illness in mind, then it is inustice to Jhanvi. If you don't forgive Viraj, then it is injustice to him because he has no control over his mind.

In real world, mental illnesses may justify a culprit in court but that culprit can't be redeemed in victim's eyes. I want Janvi to talk to somebody, it does not have to be somebody close. Viraj needs treatment and I understand so does Janvi after all she has gone through.

^^hmm well sorta...I mean that does not mean one should not take action against it! mental treatment should be given to the patient as soon as possible...it does not mean that one should keep on enduring all the zulm! so hopefully later the girl will realise that she needs to take a solid step against this...and that he is suffering from illness...and he needs pyschiatric help!

depends which way you look at..
as the story just started.. we hoping it will go through pase.. people who have suffer child abuse, suffered ill treat as child, can be treated.
hoping this takes in a positive tearn... why would you blame when there is a hope of cure...
his mental illness , is temp.. therefore there must be a way to change..

the fact is we cant blame all on one person... the women out there are so scared like janvi is at the moment.. they are afraid to go through pase to put there husband in some instituation to recive good treatment... we just cant blame on male.. females are equally responsible..

i hope janvi have the gut.. and if her love strong she will take viraj in a extent to cure him fully...

I agree with your opinion. Such treatment given by a mentally disturbed person can seriously effect the victim, if not kill him/her. It's a terrible thing to do.

Of course, if it's a real life situation, I'd want the victim to fight for justice, but at the same time, I wouldn't wish for punishment for the psycho. Cause he's still ill. I'm not justifying his actions, but sympathizing him.

Otherwise, I'm loving the current viewpoint of the show!

Karanvir has done such a fantastic job, that he has made me hate Viraj!..i thinking for me the !rape was enough" to be make realise what a vile character Viraj is. You might have a mental illness but that in no way justifies the cruel acts you make someone endure to satisfy your own selfish acts.

Viraj's character so far has been vile!, the torment he makes Jhanvi go through, both mentally and physcially is beyong me. The thing is i thought after the rape fiasco, Jhanvi will grow a backbone! but yaha kaha... instead she rested her head on his shoulder for comfort today, even though he forcefully made her eat that chicken.

Jhanvii can share her thoughts with her Dadii but she chooses not to, she is making Viraj seem like some sort of mahan insaan infront of her family, that in the long run will only backfire, when they refuse to believe her, unless she will have substantial proof of what he has made her endure.

Waise coming back to your point, we so far do not know the real behind his cruel behavior; hence the sympathizing factor is yet to be included.

SO far the only person I feel sorry for is Jhanvii, but then I think why she isn't making sure she gets help instead of suffering silently? I thought this show was about sending a message to society, yet all I have seen so far is, even after all those abuses, she keeps on increasing his cruel behaviour by acting like nothing has occur.

This is a show; for entertainment basis, hence i would not be surprise if in the long run cvs does end up making Jhanvii forgive Viraj! but before that, i want jahnvi to make him suffer in her own way.

PS i know the show is yet to develop.

Wow. So a victim is to blame for the perpetrator's gross actions? Do you realize how disturbing that train of thought is?

Violence is just not acceptable - for whatever reason.

A woman has to stand up courageously against the abuse and violence - either she should fight the battle legally or if one has to give another chance to a mentally-ill husband, then also one has to protest in some way instead of merely submitting to the violent behavior of the man.

As far as Viraj- Jahnvi is concerned, Jahnvi can give some time to help Viraj, but she has to come out of her fear and be firm in her decisions while dealing with him - she need not be angry but definitely has to be brave and firm. Otherwise, neither she is doing justice to herself nor helping Viraj.

Yeah, he raped her in last week's Thursday episode. I think. Just because her childhood friend Sanjay held her hand and dropped her home from shopping because her car broke down. Viraj thought that one man is not enough for Jhanvi, so he decides to show who is a REAL man and rapes her. This showed how much of a psycho Viraj can be.

No . No amount of mental sickness can justify domestic violense,
If viraj really has some mental issues why don't he hurt himself instead of hurting the poor wife. He behaves normally in front of Jahnvi's family and ony tortures her when they are alone. This is not a mental sickness but his over possisive and agrresive behaviour. There is a huge difference between a mentally ill person and a person with behavioural disorder. People with such issues are really difficult to cure because they will not accept that they have some problems which needs therapy. I have seen such case so I am writing from my personal experience. I am not sure how the CVs are going to handle this case further but in real life this type of issues may have severe consequences.
