^y'know,I feel these days Chetan Bhagat is writing books keeping Bollywood in mind. His books are really turning out to be pretty filmy.

I would love someone in Bollywood to attempt something like Feluda series by Satyajit Ray.I love detective stories on screen but really not much of a fan of the agent kinda movies with hi fi guns, ladies with long legs, sex, etc,so i would like to watch a film where the detective solves problems with his mind and not with the gun like Feluda.😊..Abhay Deol,Rajeev Khandelwal..they can suit the character.

Speaking of Satyajit Ray, how about Professor Shanku? Could be entertaining if done right.

totally agree here...his books feel more like hindi film scripts...i think thts why bollywood filmmakers like adapting his books...they very easily fit into the mould bollywood movie, song and dance, filmy romance, punchy dialogues etc...

Yup.If its done right plus the perfect actor is chosen for the role.I also liked watching Byamkesh Bakshi on DD.It was interesting too.

@smartie:He knows that if he writes books like these, film makers will adapt them.

I love Byomkesh Bakshi. He's my favourite desi/Bengali detective (I like him even more than Feluda). I've read the books and the DD show with Rajit Kapur was the best adaptation of the series IMO. A big budget adaptation might be good, provided they are respectful of the source material.

Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay also wrote some ghost stories with the character Baroda (in fact, he even wrote a story with both Byomkesh and Baroda). What if a movie were made out of them?

Word on that.Rajit Kapur was really good as Byamkesh and the series stuck to the books.I usually like the desi detectives more than the videshi ones so I would be happy if the directors attempt to adapt any of the desi detective novels.😊

And I agree about your Chacha Chaudhury comment too.It would make a really good film.Damn i miss the books so much.Computer se bhi tez chalta dimaag..I miss CC.

I casually read a book a long time ago (cant remember the name) but it was the entire story of mahabharata written in first person from draupadi's perspective. It was soo intruiging to read..coz she was a woman who faced such humiliation and unusual sitiations (5 husbands) in those times and yet, she was amazingly strong willed and fiesty. I thought it would make a gr8 female centric film about draupadi and her journey from getting married to the pandavas to her role in the kurukshetra war.

would give some of the actresses we have today a chance to "Act"

The Enid Blyton series? Nice. I read that long ago. Though I am more of a Famous Five fan.

You are probably talking about Pratibha Ray's Yajnaseni. I mentioned that one among other mythology based books that I want to see adapted.

https://www.amazon.com/YAJNASENI-Story-Draupaidi-Pratibha-Ray/dp/8171673236.

It would be awesome to see a movie about the epic told from Draupadi's eyes. There was actually tv show with the same idea, called Draupadi: The Untold Saga. It used to be on Sahara TV starring Mrinal Kulkarni. Unfortunaltely it was cancelled too soon.

I always thought Sridevi and Rekha were ideal candidates for the role. Perhaps Rekha as Kunti and Sridevi as Draupadi.
