Leslie to miss finale; four ousted jodis passports in limbo!
The Ek Main Aur Ek Tu finale is just a day away. Decision makers at Zee pre-poned the finale from 30 June to 23 June. The non availability of dates from the Groovy Gurus, next week onwards was the main reason for this step.
Leslie Lewis is unable to make it to the finale due to prior commitments. Of course, this has put tremendous pressure on the director and his team that puts the show together.
"Nothing is impossible. It's just that the logistics of staging an event abroad is huge. And, we are racing against time. Also, Shaan, who was to join us for the earlier date (30 June) will not be able to make it to Dubai on 23 June. So, Rohit and Ishitta will be hosting the finale, with Bipasha Basu co-hosting a segment in the show. My team has joined me today in Dubai and we are counting hours to put up a show, never seen before," says the ever optimistic Gajendrra Siingh.
In a hurried rush this week, passports and visa formalities of all participants and their family members were processed to enable them to fly out in time. Joining the finalists are eliminated jodis of Twinkle/Vishwas, Sinchan/Irfan and Joyeeta/Saptak. Last minute efforts to take the remaining jodis proved futile with offices in Dubai being closed on Thursday and Friday.
The tie-up with Percept Groups P9 Integrated Pvt Ltd. to promote the film, Corporate, will also ensure the presence of the film's director Madhur Bhandarkar and its music director Shamir Tandon in Dubai. Apart from Bipasha, actor Kay Kay Menon is also expected to be there.
The event will see power packed performances not just by the final two jodis (Aishawarya/Ujjaini and Sharib/Banjyotsna) but also by the Groovy Guru, Hariharan. Music Director Sandesh Shandelya will compose songs for the jodis and these songs will be incorporated in their forthcoming album. There will be a special round dedicated to Shandelya's songs.
Among the highlights of the finale will be a thirteen minute non stop performance by Ujjaini/Aishwarya and Banjyotsana/Sharib on top chartbusters songs and Bipasha will unveil a surprise for the winners of the competition after the finalists sing a song from the film Corporate.
"This musical talent hunt show has a huge fan following in the Middle East and they had seen crowds gathered to audition for Zee Television's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Middle East Muqabala 2006 in February. The range of unique and fresh voices heard there was awesome. I expect the EMET finale to be a treat for fans of this show," says Siingh.
The finals of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Ek Main Aur Ek Tu will take place at the Airport Expo, Center Hall in Dubai on 23 June and an audience of 4500 is expected to witness the event. The episode will be telecast on Zee TV on Saturday, 24 June from 8 pm onwards.
Following this finale, music lovers will be treated to Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs, which goes on air from 29 June. Auditions were held last weekend in Mumbai, Lucknow, Delhi and Kolkatta for children between the ages 8 to 15 years to participate for this initiative. Thirty children have been selected to compete for the L'il Champs title. Move over jodis, L'il Champs are on their way!
