Being married is awesome!
Sai Deodhar, the lady who has made it a habit to play characters that leave a lasting impression, cannot stop laughing these days. Reason being her marriage to actor Shakti Anand.
Sai, who made her mark in tellydom with her portrayal of Flight Lt Monica in Zee's Saara Akaash says, "It's great to be married to a person who is in the same profession. Its kind of a tradition in the family…my grandparents were both in the same profession and my parents are both into films. It's a blessing in disguise." Incidentally, Sai's parents are cinematographer, Debu Deodhar and director, Shrabani Deodhar. She has virtually grown up in the film industry and has been facing the camera since she was three. Anyone who has seen Sai perform, will agree that she can completely become the character she is playing with ease. "I can relate to Monika. She is a very real person who has her fair share of strengths and flaws," she says with pride. Her character in Star One's Siddhanth, has also been appreciated. As Himangi, a hard-headed journalist, Sai played a girl who has her own views and identity. When asked why she quit the serial when her character was really shaping up well, she sighs, "But I was only offered one story. It was just that it comprised of many episodes. It's a pity isn't it? I really loved playing Himangi." We goad a little further, and then she says guardedly, "Maybe the channel didn't want to continue the track…maybe because it's turning episodic."
"I was blessed with a brilliant script in Saara Aakash…now I am looking for roles that must be parallel, if not better than what I have already done," says Sai, who is looking at film scripts, but believes that one should keep some time out for personal life. Creativity, being topmost on her mind, Sai, is looking for projects that will give her creative satisfaction. "The camera never blinks, it catches everything, one has to be on his toes all the time," sasy Sai, emphasising why she wants to do one thing at a time. Asked why she was just doing only Saara Aakash, when other actors are signing more than one project at one time, she points out, "See I have been offered dailies and that I can't accommodate in my schedule as I can't run from one set to the other…and I shoot for Saara…for 25 days in a month…"and surely, we understand, the remaining time must be precious time to be spent with her hubby! On that note, she tells us that they did not even get to go on her honeymoon…Shakti and Sai went out for just four days…But atleast they get to see one another all the time on the sets of Saara Aakash. No wonder, both don't want to quit the serial…at any cost! Pics by Vicky Ahuja

Sai says no to 'Mamta' | |||
Sai Deodhar, better known as Flight Lt Monika in Star Plus'Saara Akash, has decided not to do the forthcoming Zee show, Mamta due to date problems.
"Initially the show was supposed to be aired three days a week, later they told me that it would be a daily...that is shooting for, like, 30 days a month. A bit too much for me. You know, that is too stressful for anybody!" exclaims Sai, who is going through a number of scripts and says that there are a few projects that are in the pipeline. So was the parting amicable? "Yes, it was. They appreciated the fact that I had been honest about it at the outset. It is no use continuing to do something and create problems after the serial goes on air. It was a nice character and I don't blame them. This way both parties don't suffer," says Sai, who had done a few episodes of Star One's Siddhanth, were she played a fiery journalist. Sai had seemed very excited about doing Mamta a couple of weeks ago (Click here for related story). It is a pity that she has decided to opt out of it. Anyway, we are sure to see more of her in the year ahead.

Sai stars in Kasauti Zindagi Kay on Star Plus
I was shooting in Mumbai when the monsoon hit. Then, while going back home, I got stuck in a traffic jam. Finally, when I reached home, there was no electricity and it was terrible. I was all alone at home and there was thunder and lightning outside. It was a real thriller for me; I was so scared.
That apart, I am very fond of the rains. I regard the monsoon as the beginning of new life. There's greenery all around, and that signifies the beginning of new things in life. The experience is magnificent.
I spend my time during the monsoon going for long drives and picnics. Our favourite holiday spots during this time are Goa and Mahabaleshwar. Last year, the monsoon started when we had finished a long and tiring schedule for the serial Saara Aakash, and we picked up our baggage and left for Goa to enjoy the holidays. That was awesome.
This is the time I indulge in anything hot and steaming. It could be vada pav or pizza.
