Hi Guys, I am new. I have been reading the forum page from the beginning of this year. Admire all your writing skills so I thought I will give a hand on my own short story. Some scenes maybe familiar to SNS...hope I have not stolen anyone's ideas or plagiarised unknowingly. I am a Jane Austen fan. Mr Darcy is my man. I believe I am much older than all you guys on Forum. I am an SNS fan. Normally I do not take to any kind of soapies. Somehow, I have gotten hooked to watching SNS and IPKKND.
Here is my story:-
Gopi had thought that her marriage was finally on the mend. These last few months especially last few weeks have been wonderful. Ahem has been taking care of her every need. Looking out for her like a hawk. Although embarrassed she enjoyed the way Ahem massaged her left foot and ankle. He has been so attentive and possessive over her. She enjoyed this new Ahem. The accident certainly took a positive turn in bring Ahem and Gopi closer and more comfortable with each other.
However, since a week ago Ahem has been acting strange. Short tempered and constantly coming home late. Ahem did not know how to deal with this new feeling he was experiencing for Gopi and also felt confused. "How could I fall in love again that's impossible? I am sure what I feel for Gopi is only concern and duty and nothing more?" Ahem questions himself.
To add to his confusion, he met Anita at a Christmas function organised by one of Modis clients a week ago. He has met her twice since then upon Anita's insistence that they meet up for drinks old times' sake since she is in town just for the holidays. She seized this opportunity by reminding Ahem about the good times they shared. She manipulatively tried to make him feel guilty for leaving her for his mum. She played with his guilt so much so that it had him confused. Whenever she rang he would meet her out of feeling guilty.
She rang his mobile once and Gopi answered as Ahem was in the bathroom. On hearing Gopi's voice Anita seized this opportunity to inform Gopi that Ahem and her has been meeting frequently. Gopi was shocked for a while. Like a zombie she informed Ahem that Anita has rung on his mobile and to call her back.
She later on made a mental note to ask Ahem about the call. She asked Ahem if this Anita is the same one he loves. He said yes. Gopi asked how long has this been going on? Ahem answered," she came back from America a week ago and we are just catching up. "
"Ahemji may I ask you something?" Gopi. Ahem nodded.
"Do you still love Anitaji?" Gopi
"I thought I did but I am not sure now?" answered Ahem
"Why?" Gopi "Alot of things have changed since our marriage and I don't really know what I feel anymore?" replied Ahem.
"Ahemji, I've known from the start you did not want to marry me and I heard you tell Maaji what you feel for me so far has been out of duty and obligation___ I honestly thought that your care and concern for me is something other than care and duty. Honestly I have never stop loving you from day one. However, if you still feel Anita is the one, I will not stand in your way. All I ask for is your honesty. So please think about it. This marriage has gone on long enough. We need to decide whether we want to take this marriage to the next level or call it quits. The decision is yours. On saying that, Gopi left the room.
She went to the garden to seek sanctuary and solace for she could not control her tears. Kokila who has been listening to the conversation quietly decided to take matters into hand. Kokila with a determined look decided that she has to teach her son Ahem a lesson.
Ahem on the other hand, was shocked by Gopi's honesty, frankness and upfront behaviour. He actually admired this frankness in Gopi. But what he failed to see was the hurt and disappointment expressed in every word spoken by Gopi.
Despite her own fears of losing Ahem and the hurt she felt, she put herself second and prayed to Kanhaji for Ahem's happiness. Kokila approached Gopi and told Gopi she heard everything. Gopi could not help herself. She cried and poured her feelings to Maaji. Maaji calmly spoke to Gopi. Soothing away her hurt and asking Gopi to trust in Kanhaji and she believes all will be well.
Kokila never knew that her son Ahem would be so misguided. What she witnessed so far and especially in the hospital was not just Ahem's responsibility towards Gopi but it had actually been love. He is totally in love with Gopi but his ego would not allow him to acknowledge this to himself or anyone for that matter.
Kokila spoke to Hetal privately in the morning and hence set her plans into motion. She made a phone call and had a lengthy discussion with her best friend Nirmala who now lives in Lucknow.
My best friend Nirmala is coming in two days, Kokila told both Gopi and Hetal.
"She will be here with her son. She is looking for a bahu for her son and wants my opinion. A matchmaker has lined up a few girls for her in Rajkot so most of the time I will be out visiting with her. Meanwhile Gopi bahu I want you to be responsible for Ayush comfort while he is here. Do you understand Gopi Bahu?" Ji maaji, Gopi responded.
The day of Nirmala's arrival came and the household was bustling getting ready for their guests arrival.
Nirmala was sincerely very taken by Gopi and could immediately see by Kokila has chosen her for her Bahu. She paid this compliment openly to Kokila and the family. She jokingly told Koki to be careful in case she decides to steal Gopi from them for her son. Ahem was shocked by her boldness and did not like this idea at all. He could not explain the anger he felt on hearing this comment.
Ayush straight away took to Gopi and Gopi too felt really comfortable with him. Ayush himself is very educated, good looking and a very successful businessman. He has taken this time out to relax and look for a bride for himself with his mum.
While at home, Gopi tended to his every need. Gopi quickly learn a lot about Ayush through conversation with him and his likes and dislike. Because Ayush was such an easy going, kind and friendly person (like Jigar) Gopi was able to communicate with him without shyness and reserve. He took upon himself to converse with Gopi frequently. Encouraged Gopi to read. He was always in the kitchen with Gopi. Talking to her, educating her on whats going on around the world. Taking timeout to explain complicated matters in simple terms so that she can understand. Gopi was very touched by this gesture from Ayush.
Ahem has been noticing the attention Ayush has been paying Gopi. He also noticed that Gopi has not been spending much time in their room. She just looks to his need when he is home and takes off.
In the evenings, since Nirmala has been around, it became a daily routine where everyone except Ahem stayed up till late to chitchat. Ahem was really getting irritated by this change of events. It irritated him to think that Gopi was spending more time with Ayush than him.
Ahem came home early from work one day. He walked in without ringing the door bell. He could not find anyone around. He walked into the kitchen and was shocked to see Gopi in Ayush's arms and Gopi laughing. They felt embarrassed while Ahem scowled at them. Ayush explained that just safe Gopi from a bad fall. Someone had spilt water and obviously forgotten to wipe the floor.
Ahem was not too happy and looked like a raging bull about to burst. Gopi immediately sensed that he was not in the mood to be trifled with. He asked for green tea and snack. She said she will bring it up to the room.
Ahem changed and pace up and down their room waiting for her. He could not comprehend why he was feeling so angry, he just wanted to hit something.
As Gopi placed the green tea and snack on the table, Ahem locked their room door. He walked angrily and steadily towards Gopi (his nose flaring like a raging bull). Gopi shocked by his behaviour started backing away from him till she hit the foot of the bed and could not move anyone. Ahem asked her what she was playing at flirting with Ayush like that.
Gopi was shocked and afraid. She not seen Ahem like that angry in a long while. The last time was the Umang's incident with Kinjal. She stuttered and explained that she saw Ayush like an older brother nothing more. Ayush has been kind to her and taken time to get to know her and always treated her like respectfully and not like a gawar. He patiently spends time with her unlike Ahem. Ayush afterall is their guest and "Mayhaman Bhagawan Hoti Hai"
On hearing this Ahem got angrier, he pulled Gopi towards him and kissed her punishingly. Gopi tried to pull away but his grip was too tight. Ahem began to taste salt in his mouth and he realised that Gopi is crying. In his angry he had hurt her. He kissed her so roughly and painfully. Ahem released hi s painful grip. Both Gopi's wrist and lips hurt from his brutality. Gopi could not understand what has come over Ahem. Ahem walked out of the room in anger and left Gopi confused. Gopi's lips felt swollen from the brutal kiss.
As Ahem walked away from his room, herealised his reaction was due to massive jealousy.
He also realised that since Ayush has been around, he has been constantly worried about the amount of time Gopi was spending with him. So much so that Anita was unable to get his total attention. He then remembered his conversation with Anita earlier that day. Anita vented her frustration. She complained that Ahem rarely spend time with her and when he did, all he does is constantly talk about Gopi to her. Anita gave Ahem an ultimatum; he needs to decide whether he wants to be with Gopi or her.
Next morning Gopi avoided Ahem at all cost, served breakfast and disappeared, did not wait around for him as she usually does until he leaves for work. Ahem was looking out for her, he knew he behaved badly however his ego got in the way and he still has not apologised for his behaviour.
That morning MM received a phone call. Nani's neighbour rang to inform Kokial that her mum is very sick and needs someone to care for her. Nani was too sick to travel.
Kokila was in a dilemma. Should she send her Gopi Bahu? She has Nirmala and Ayush as guests. She is still helping Nirmala. Hetal is looking after Baa. Chirag and Ahem managing the family business. Jigar is going away on a business trip for two weeks and he may be taking Rashi with him. They too need to work on their relationship. Kokila knew that Gopi is responsible and will take really good care of Nani.
Gopi packed her things and left for Nani's the same day. Kokila told her that she will inform Ahem. Gopi saw this opportunity to be away from Ahem. She needs to think about what she wants to do and she can't when he is around as she loves him too much. She gave him her heart the first time she saw him. Like a helpless fool, she blindly fell in love.
Ahem could not concentrate on his work. Something did not sit right with him. He wanted to get home and see Gopi and was thinking of the way he kissed Gopi. He then realised that over the last 13 months of their marriage he had quietly gotten use to Gopi being there for him, doing things for him, and looking after him. She has quietly taken over the role of being his wife and he himself has accepted it unknowingly. He remembered the incident at the hospital where he told the doctor and staff that Gopi is his "Patni".
She has learnt to understand him, his likes and dislikes. He in turn has developed a possessiveness towards her. Although he was afraid of his feeling for her, he could not avoid her anymore. He decided things cannot on go on as they are and he has to make a decision as to who he really wants Anita or Gopi. He began comparing Anita to Gopi and realised that there was really nothing to compare. They are two very different beings. Gopi's quiet and endearing ways have slowly broken the wall he built around his heart. The way she genuinely cares and loves his family especially his mum and that has touched and melt his heart more than anything. Despite the fact that he had been mean and to the point of being cruel to her in the early stages of their marriage, she has never complained about his behaviour to anyone and always forgave him easily. He also knew that no way would Anita had put up with him the way Gopi has all this while.
He decided that day he was going to apologise and ask Gopi to give him another chance.
He did not find Gopi in the Kitchen and therefore when straight to their bedroom. No Gopi there either. Kokila was not home too. He thought his wife must be out with his mum. So he got on to do some work while waiting for them to get home.
His mum came back two hours later. "Sorry Ahem i was held up longer than usual today." Ahem goes, "Where is Gopi mum, isn't she with you?" Kokila, "Oh sorry Ahem dikra, Nani is very ill so I have sent Gopi to look after her."
Ahem suddenly felt as though he had lost something precious. Ahem asked, " When is she coming home?" Koki, "Don't know son, depends on how fast Nani gets better. I know son you are going to miss your wife, you can call her and see her in the weekends __Nani is only two hours away. Under the circumstances, I had no choice but to send Gopi Bahu to Nani.
Ahem never felt so disappointed in his life. How can he tell his mum that Gopi probably does not want to see or hear from him. All his well laid plans have been put to waste.
Kokila noticed Ahem deep in thoughts. " What's the matter Ahem ? Don't be upset Gopi Bahu should be back in two weeks. "
In the two weeks, he did not know if he could wait that long. Ahem never felt so lost. He missed Gopi already. Gopi was disappointed that Ahem had not call once. Ahem on the other hand, picked up the phone a few times but did not have the courage to dial Nani's number. His ego was still in the way. He told himself that the matter could wait two weeks.
Gopi decided to stay on at Nani's longer. In the two weeks, Nani and Gopi formed a bond and friendship. Nani sensed that something was still not right in Gopi's marriage. Gopi confided in Nani.
Nani agreed for Gopi to stay on a bit longer. She pretended to still be sick. Ahem was disappointed that Gopi was not coming home. He decided to take a few days off and to see her.
Gopi was surprised and dumfounded when she saw Ahem at Nani's front door. Annoyed Ahem said, "Are you going to let me in or are you going to stand there staring at me all day."
Sorry Ahemji, Gopi responded.
Ahem was secretly happy to see her. He noticed that she looked tired and thinner.
Ahem had so much to speak to her about that he could not wait to have a lonely moment with her.
Ahem enquires about Nani. Nani tell Ahem that she is well and feels much better. "So why is Gopi still staying with you?" questioned Ahem.
Nani said," Because Gopi wants to stay here longer."
Ahem glares at Gopi. Gopi avoided his look.
After dinner when Nani retired to sleep. Gopi and Ahem retreated to their room. Ahem locked their room door and walked purposely towards Gopi.
Gopi was unsure as how to react. Ahem goes, " Don't you want to come home?"
Gopi, "Come home? Why would you want me home anyway? You have Anita with you now so why do you care whether I am home or not. Isn't this better and convenient for you. I really can't live like this anymore. I can't live with this uncertainty of being your wife. You should be honest to your mum and we should go our separate ways."
Ahem is shocked by what he heard. Ahem asked, " Gopi, Do you really hate me so much?"
Gopi cries, "I have never hated you. I have always loved you unconditionally and will always love you. However, you have a heart made of stone. You can never have any feelings for me, I know that now. I can't live with you anymore. Your happiness has always been my happiness. Frankly I can't be around you anymore it hurts too much to know that you can never love me. At the same time, I can't bear to see you hurt and angry all the time."
Ahem was speechless. He had not realised that the girl his mum choose for him has a heart of gold and he really did not deserve her. Gopi had turned around to run from the room. Ahem instinctively held her hand and stopped her. She could not hold back her emotions anymore. Ahem pulled her in his arms and Gopi began sobbing. He held her gently in his arms.
He held her there for a long time, quietly whispering endearments to her. Gopi was sobbing uncontrollably, all the months of pent up emotions poured out of her.
Ahem picked her up in his arms and placed her on the bed. He laid next to her and pulled her close, all the while kissing her face softly. He plunders her sweet lips and passion ignited as their lips met. Ahem felt such a fool for allowing his prejudice and ego from keeping him away from Gopi for so long. He made a silent promise that he is going to spend the rest of his life making up to Gopi.
In the morning, he took Gopi out with him. They stopped by a Mandir on the way, he asked the temple Pandit to perform a simple ceremony with them taking their marriage vows. He knew his Gopi was simple and would not appreciate an elaborate ceremony and he did not want to wait any longer. He took Gopi's hands in his as they took the seven turns around the fire. With each round he made his promise of love, be it in sickness or in health, in good times or bad. He promised to stand by her all the time, to be her pillar of support and strength. They collected their Prasad, got the blessings of the Pandit and headed home.
On the way back to Nani's, Ahem rang his mum and told her that he is taking Gopi on a long awaited honeymoon. Kokila was elated to hear this, gave the good news to everyone. Ahem asked Jigar and Kaka to hold the fort at work for his while he is away with Gopi.
He also rang Anita and told her his decision. He gave Gopi a wink as he did this. Gopi has never felt so much happiness in the life and looked at her Ahemji shyly as he drove. She kept thanking her Kanhaji and Ahemji mentally.
Ahem asked Jigar and Kaka to hold the fort at work while he is away with Gopi. He quickly rang around to make arrangements for their honeymoon when they got to Nani's. He was taking Gopi to Simla for a good week. It pleased Nani to see that Kanhaji has made Gopi's wish come true. She blessed them both. Ahem took Gopi shopping before heading for Simla. He bought her two lacy lingerie- red and black. He watched Gopi blush like a beetroot when he selected and paid for it.
As soon as they arrived in Simla, they booked into their hotel. Ahem ordered some room service. His plans was not leaving the room for quite some time and therefore had to make sure that they had enough to eat. Ahem was first to take a shower, he picked the lacy lingerie and asked Gopi to put it on when she has showered. Gopi again when all red.
After Gopi changed she was too embarrassed to leave the bathroom. Ahem threatened to come in and get her. Eventually she gave up and came out. Ahem's mouth when all dry, he could not believe that Gopi could look this sexy. She had also combed her hair with a side part. Shewas a contradiction of a shy, sweet seductress. He pulled her to him.
He began kissing her neck and making his way down to her cleavage. She felt hot and began to moan. Seeing her reaction made Ahem desire her more. Since the lingerie sat up to her thighs, Ahem put his hands under her dress and began to gently massaging her breast. Gopi moaned even louder. Ahem held her hands up and pulled the lingerie over her. Next he pulled her knickers down and off her. Gopi tried to cover herself but Ahem took her hands away so that he can savour her with his eyes.
He carried her and laid her on the bed. He took off his clothes and came to her. He continued kissing her slowly making his way from the top of her head to the tip of her toes and back while he watched the effect he had on her. She could not help but moan and react to the heat she was feeling. Ahem was enjoying the display of passion before him. Gopi had enough of this helplessness and torture as Ahem was in no hurry to fulfil their desire. Gopi moved and came on top of Ahem and took matters into hand decided to kiss him the same way he did to her from his face all the way down to his toes. Enjoyably listening to the pleasure she was bringing him. Eventually Ahem had reached his limit__ he moved over her and parted her legs. He positioned himself and plundered into her. Making her his in every sense of the word finally.
Ahem thought to himself that the wait has been worth it. He realised that he not only loves Gopi very much but she means the world to him and without her he is nothing. He does not know when or how Gopi has slowly made her way to his heart mind and body. He looked at Gopi's sleeping form and silently thanked Kanhaji for giving him numerous chances and through those chances he began his journey of understanding and loving his Gopi. He thought of the times where his foolishness, arrogance and ego almost caused him to lose her for good but decided not to go there anymore. He wants to move forward making up to Gopi for all the hurt he caused her heart.
He kissed her again, silently promising to be her soul mate for many lifetimes.
