Ek Main Aur Ek Tu jodis dazzle Delhites

As welcome as the showers that lashed Delhi on 16 June were for the capital's denizens, it was a nightmare for the Ek Main Aur Ek Tu team. The top two jodis, Banjyotsana /Sharib and Ujjaini/Aishwarya faced thunderstorms and duststorms (literally) to reach Talkatora Indoor Stadium for their performance in the city.

Not one to be deterred by rough weather, director Gajendrra Siingh and his team got the stage set for a scintillating performance, which will long be remembered by Delhites. To be aired this Thursday (22 June), this show had Ishitta host the show with Challenge 2005 winner and runner-up Debojit and Vineet respectively. Groovy Guru Hariharan was also the sole judge for this show, but, he had five faithful viewers (Delhi Public Paanch) giving their opinion on the jodis performances.

Entering the stage with guards protecting them from fans who wanted to get too close, it was their first performance in the capital. Being fully aware that this performance will be a crucial deciding factor in winning the contest, apart from singing their songs well, they made all efforts to build upon their EMET magic to capture the audiences hearts.

The crowd of around 3,500 people had worked itself up to a frenzy of anticipation by the time the jodis stepped onstage. The performances had the crowd dancing, cheering and lip syncing loudly with the jodis.

The jodis possessed all the tools to dominate the audiences without giving them a moment to be bored, with instantly identifiable voices, eye-popping dance moves, stunning musical versatility, and loads of sheer star power. "You are all responsible for bringing us to this stage," said the jodis unanimously, after thanking the crowd.

The audience members from North India continued chanting as the smoke on the stage cleared, the lights and lasers dimmed, and jodis, after nearly two hours of nonstop singing and dancing, made their way to the dressing room.

Hariharan sang the last song Chappa Chappa (Maachis) accompanied by the jodis. Debojit and Vineet, cheered for Sharib/Banjyotsana and Ujjaini/Aishwayra respectively. They pleaded with viewers not to go by their word, and instead take the right decision that would benefit music alone.

Gajendrra Siingh said, "I wish every parent in India who has indulged in the show on television for the last 14 weeks with their children, could have shared the in-concert experience with their kids. The frenzy seen in Delhi showed what a thrill it was to see and hear the jodis thirty feet away in the flesh. The jodis also received an amazing reception from Radio Mirchi fans when they visited the station earlier in the day to chat with their fans."

"Watching them perform every week, I was convinced that the singers were good enough to carry the crowd on their own and these shows at Delhi and Kolkatta are souvenirs of good, clean musical entertainment," added Siingh.
