BAFTA, which stages the British equivalent of the Oscars, is holding a series of events, "BAFTA goes Bollywood", from July 14-16, to which Aamir has been invited, along with Yash Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar and Preity Zinta.
Duncan Kenworthy, BAFTA chairman, enthuses: "The Academy is delighted to host this exciting event, which celebrates and investigates the broad appeal, outstanding creative talent and unparalleled production values that characterise Bollywood cinema.
We are honoured to bring some of Bollywood's most influential artists to London, to recognise their achievements and to learn from their expertise."
I know some Indians are contacting BAFTA, asking for Fanaa to be screened as the opening film as a gesture of support for Aamir.
