This bubbly Deol girl speaks with a mature confidence that she didn't exude earlier. "I have matured as an actress. Initially, I was very lost because my films didn't do well. I was worried and was constantly compared to my parents since they were always on the top. I know I cannot reach their position and will never be able to, but I can at least try," she says. Though Ankahee didn't do well for her, she does not seem to be let down by any flops.
"I got to know that it was Sushmita's character that I had to perform. I have never met her, but she is a diva for me. I've always admired her. For me, though it was a complex role, it had a lot of appeal because I have never attempted such a role before. In fact, I like being criticised; I always take it with a pinch of salt. This has made me sit up and notice things about myself which otherwise I would have ignored. Criticism helps me perform better. I think I need more criticism than praise to keep me going. My sister Ahana and my mother are my worst critics. Together they really pull me down," adds Esha.
Speaking about her forthcoming roles, she says, "Unfortunately, I am not a part of Dhoom II. I went to prison in the first part and no one bailed me out. I would have been very glad to be a part of the film and I wish the team all the best. I am doing two more films. One of them is Meghna Gulzar's Honeymoon in which I am married to Fardeen.
I have my own home production which my sister Aahana is going to direct. The film is still being scripted. Then there's a film which my mother plans to direct, but that will take some time. It is going to be an action film where you will see an Angelina Jolie kind of character. Also, there's Ramesh Sippy's Rooh which is a supernatural thriller.
Then there is a film called Red. Apart from these, there is Harry Baweja's Speed starring Zayed Khan and Aftab Shivdasani. It's an action thriller with four stories woven into one." She adds, "I want to do quality work and make a mark. I will do better films, but at the same time, I want to carry on with my dancing too. It makes me calm and I feel peaceful."
