Arjun entered the room and was stunned; his full room was decorated with flowers and candles. He was admiring the room when his eyes fell on the figure sitting in the middle of the bed; whose face was coved with veil, who was his wife. He kept on looking at her standing at the same position but the next moment he started walking towards her; his legs automatically made their way towards her like there was some magnetic pull. On the other hand Arohi had become more nervous when she had heard the door open and then close. Her hands were shivering she was scared because she didn't know what is going to happen. Then she heard light footsteps, which were coming towards her. She got more scared thinking about what will happen. She closed her eyes and let the tears flow.
Arjun came and sat in front of her and then took off her veil. He looked at her face and saw tears flowing from her eyes. His heart pierced looking at her tear stain face. "Arohi" he said in a low tone looking at tears falling from her eyes. Arohi heard him say her name and just squeezed her eyes. Arjun again said "Arohi" waiting for her to react. Arohi heard him call her name again; she waited for few seconds then looked up slowly, something was there which made her look up at him directly in his eyes. The moment Arjun looked into her eyes, he saw that she is nervous, she is scared and he got to know that even she is not ready. He just wanted to look in her eyes as he knew that her eyes will never lie to him.
"Ummm' Arohi I know that our marriage took place in a rush and frankly speaking I didn't wanted to get married this early, what I mean is, I wanted to know you some more and wanted you to know me more before the marriage. I tried talking to Dad and postpone the wedding a bit, but it didn't work" he paused and continued "and I know that even you are not yet ready for this relationship." Arohi looked up at him when he said the last sentence. They kept on staring at each other for few moments then Arjun continued "But now it's happened, I mean we are married' we are husband and wife now'" Arjun paused and then continued "Ummm' before taking any step in our relation I think we should try to understand each other. What do you think? Are you okay with it?" he asked.
Arohi had listened to Arjun carefully directly looking in his eyes and by looking in his eyes she could tell how genuine he was, how true his words were. All her nervousness vanished because of that. He had made it so simple for her just by saying those words. She was feeling so calm now. Few more tears made their way down her eyes, it neither was happy tears nor was sad, it was just because this was for the first time in her life someone was asking if she was okay with it.
Arjun looked at her face and saw more tears flowing from her eyes, which made him worried. It was confusing him. 'Why is she crying? Did I say something wrong?' Arjun frowned and recalled what he said. 'I don't think so. Is she not comfortable that way? It should be that I guess.' He thought and then asked Arohi "Are you not okay with it? It's okay we'll think of something else." Arohi looked up again in his eyes and saw concern. "I'm okay with it." she said and looked down, her voice was almost a whisper but audible for Arjun. Arjun sighed when he heard her, she was not lying, and he could say that as he was looking in her eyes. The next second he heard her fumble "I was just'.ummm" Arohi could not explain what she was feeling, how good it felt when someone is concerned about you, when someone asks if you are okay with it. She could not describe it in words.
Arjun looked at her face and saw various emotions playing and could not make out what exactly she was felling 'May be a little hesitant.' He thought. "Arohi I don't know that if in future I'll be able to be a good husband or not but I promise you that I'll always keep you happy, I'll give you all the happiness in the world. I'll never ever leave your side no matter what' I have heard that a relationship depends on 'LOVE' and 'TRUST', though I don't know what does love mean' I mean, I've never experienced it but I promise that I'll try, that I don't keep our relationship incomplete, that does not mean I'll force you I'll never force you, I'll never do anything like that. Trust me. I just want to give our relationship a chance, and I'll try my best to make it work" Arjun said. He meant each and every word he said and he wanted her to believe him, believe that whatever he said he really mean it. He wanted her to trust him. He was looking at her hoping that she trust's him.
Arohi smiled looking in his eyes, "I trust you" she said exactly what her heart was saying but it took her a second to realize that she said it out loud and she looked away once she realized and was embarrassed. Arjun let out a breathe when he heard her and was happy that she trusted him and his heart skipped a beat when he saw her smile, it was her genuine smile which reached her eyes. He smiled when she looked away. "So'.. Friends?" asked Arjun with a smile and moving his hand forward. Arohi looked at him when she heard him, she looked at his hand and then back at him. "Come on, we can be friends right? Or you want us to behave like strangers? Or the third option in which we'll have to behave as if we hate each other? Well I can't act like a stranger when I know you and I cannot hate you either. You are too good to be hated. So the second and the third option are cancelled' and my friends say that I'm a good friend so'" said Arjun.
Arohi smiled, this time bigger than before and moved her hand forward. Arjun smiled back at her showing his dimples whilst shaking hands with her. Arohi's smile grew wider looking at his dimples. He looked cute. She thought and kept looking at him and noticed that he was indeed very handsome, his body was perfectly shaped and then she remembered what her cousins were saying 'Jeeju is looking sooo handsome' 'Seriously Arohi what a catch' they were so right. She thought. She had never noticed this before, they had hardly met and whenever they met she was lost in her own thoughts.
"I guess we should change our clothes, these are kind off uncomfortable." Arjun said bringing Arohi out of the thoughts and getting off the bed. Arohi nodded looking at Arjun. She also stood up carefully taking hold of her lehnga. Arjun got her bag which was kept on the corner "Here' your bag" he said keeping it on the bed and walked towards his closet. He removed a T-Shirt and pajama from the closet and walked towards the washroom; he stopped and looked at Arohi "You want to go in first or should I go?" asked Arjun pointing towards the washroom. Arohi shook her head and said "You can go." Arjun nodded and walked in the washroom.
Arohi walked towards the dressing table and started removing the pins from her head carefully which were holding the heavy duppata; she let the duppata fall from her hair. She then removed the heavy necklace and heavy earrings. She sighed as she kept them aside. Her ears have started paining because of it. She then removed the rest of the jewelry and opened her hair, letting them fall on her back. Arjun came out of the washroom and saw her keeping her jewelry in their boxes. Arohi looked up and saw Arjun standing looking at her. Arjun smiled at her to which she smiled back. She took her clothes and walked in the washroom. Arjun opened the drawer of the side table and removed the gift which he had bought for her. He walked towards his closet and kept the gift there, he'll give it to her afterwards. He just thought that it's not the right time today; maybe after they get to know each other, he sighed and walked towards the bed. He picked up a pillow and the extra blanket and walked towards the couch.
She changed into plain cotton salwaar kameez and came out she was a bit hesitant in wearing a night dress in front of Arjun. As she came out she saw Arjun keeping a pillow and blanket on the couch, her eyebrows knit together. Arjun turned around and saw Arohi. "You can sleep on the bed and I'll sleep here." Arjun said with a smile on his face and pointed towards the couch. "It's okay I'll sleep on the couch, you can sleep on the bed." Said Arohi shaking her head, she didn't need to ask him why was he doing this, but she didn't want him to do this for her. "No, I'll be more comfortable here on the couch and as it is I'll not get any sleep there on the bed seeing that you'll be sleeping on the couch." Said Arjun. "But it's going to be uncomfortable." Said Arohi "Not for me, seriously I'll be more comfortable here than the bed and there is no point in arguing as I'm not going to listen." Said Arjun shrugging his shoulders and then added "Goodnight, Sweet Dreams." Arohi sighed, she was very tired to argue further and deep down she liked his concern for her "Good night." She said in a low tone walking towards the bed. "By the way Arohi, you were looking very beautiful and you look more beautiful when you smile. So keep smiling." Arjun said with a smile. Arohi's blushed slightly and looked away mumbling thanks.
Arjun switched off the lights and lay on couch. He smiled remembering her smile. 'It was a good start.' He thought and then closed his eyes praying silently 'God, please keep on helping me like you did today.' Whilst Arohi lay on the bed, her back facing towards Arjun; a small smile playing on her lips. She didn't even remember the last time she had smiled from her heart; it had always been fake before. Arohi closed her eyes and thanked god and her parents. Soon both Arjun and Arohi were asleep; a peaceful sleep.
Tomorrow will be the new day and the new start of their lives together...
