Pearl breaking scene symbolism

Hi all,

From the other threads, many of you have mentioned that the pearl breaking scene was a path breaking one and never seen before in Indian TV...

Am probably going to look like a bigger tube light that Anjali and La put together 😆...but can someone please explain what the symbolism was for that one? Because it is supposed to set the ground for the story...Nothing obvious jumps to me!

Well, I was the one who really brought it up. Now how do I put it to you lighly without having the mods descend on me for indecency lol? Let's just say it is the equivalent of taking Khushi's innocence.

me too in the same boat...didn't get the relation...just thought that it was quite bold for tv, but didn't knew there was some hidden meaning to it...

LOL people, pearls symbolize or stand for purity. So if you break it...Get it?

Now I think the cvs did it intentionally, if not, they took it from somewhere and just got lucky 😆

they used that pearl breaking scene is promo 5 where it said that Khushi had some past connection with Arnav's family! So like Khushi ruined Arnav's past, he'll ruin Khushi's present!!

I agree with u areeba. I think this is the connection.

So, when he um brutally broke the string of pearls it symbolized the taking of that purity (think wedding night). BUT, keep in mind that the exact same thing was duplicated at Diwali during the ankle sprain scene, only this time he was considerate and gentle. Just like most of the symbolism in the show everything begins one way, then progresses to another level. Both scenes for many of us highlighted the extremity of ASR's character in the show. I think it symbolized that Khushi would be broken completly! and obviously, what the girl is going through right now does show a bit of connection!! She had lost her charm and chirpiness just because she's selfless and thinks about others before herself!

That is part of it, but remember this is a romance, symbolism here is not as innocent as that. Remember he called it battameze before breaking the string of pearls.
