Geet turns brand ambassador for Greener Earth

Drashti Dhami aka Geet Khurana from STAR One's hit prime time show Geet –Hui Sabse Parayi is now the brand ambassador for Canvironment Week 2011 initiated by Hindustan Tin Works Ltd to support the cause of 'Save Our Planet'.

A STAROne.in source reveals, "They chose Drashti Dhami as their brand ambassador since she has a large fan following among women and youth. They felt her presence would help make the youth aware of their initiative of saving our planet Earth and the importance of recycling."

An excited Drashti Dhami aka Geet confirms, "For me, it is a proud moment to be selected as brand ambassador for this year's Canvironment Week 2011."

The activities of the Canvironment Week 2011 in India will be painting competitions for rag pickers' children, health camps, 'Canclilious' food canter activity and an inter-college musical 'Can Cussion'.

Across India, Canvironment will provide basic amenities to rag pickers, who are primarily responsible for keeping our society clean. Rag pickers are the cogs that keep the recycling wheel running. In a way one can say that rag pickers pickers single-handedly drive the recycle movement in India. During last year's campaign the rag pickers benefited from health checkups, rural health insurance schemes and education sponsorships. With the return of health camps in 2011 combined with vocational training a few rag pickers can hope to move to better professions. A unique worldwide initiative, Canvironment week aims at not just taking action but educating as well.

For the first time ever, can makers and brand owners across the world are coming together to create a 'United Global Metal Can Sustainability Movement'. Its goal is to make a significant and sustainable impact by creating an all round awareness about the exclusive benefits of using cans, the vital one being its eco-friendly nature.
