No Dirty Picture for Pakistan!

The Dirty Picture, scheduled to release with a mass opening this Friday, will unfortunately not be screened in India's neighbour, Pakistan. According to the Pakistani Censor Board committee, the movie's content has been deemed as too bold and inappropriate for the Pakistani audience. The board took the same verdict earlier this year with Aamir Khan's satire, Delhi Belly.

Officials from Balaji Motion Pictures confirmed the alarming buzz, further adding how it is a loss to the movie's fans in the country. Furthermore, officials believe that this measure encourages piracy as fans in general may approach illicit ways of seeing the venture.

Living in this day and age, and with cinema and audiences welcoming bold projects on their screens, has the censor board taken the right decision? Let us know!

I don't see any good reasons to ban this movie. This is a lost chance to earn money for Pakistan's movie theaters.

The box office number for TDP shows a missed chance for business in Pakistan for the theaters there, they could have done great business.

Next thing you know, they'll be issuing a fatwa against Vidya Balan for acting in Dirty Picture.

Like, seriously, what's the point of "banning" movies? To keep the people from watching it, right? Well, flashnews - they're gonna watch it anyways, thanks to the modern age of internet. So cut the crap already.

I second that. I only think it'll drive illegal downloads in Pakistan even more. They're gonna see it anyways, might as well make money off of it.

The Dirty Picture cleared for release in Pakistan
NDTVMovies.Com
Wednesday, December 07, 2011 (New Delhi)

Vidya Balan's The Dirty Picture has been cleared for release in Pakistan by the Central Board of Film Censors, Islamabad. Screenings begin this Friday, December 9th.

Earlier, the Pakistan Censor Board had refused to clear the movie for release in their country. Earlier this year, Delhi Belly too was not cleared for a release there.

The Dirty Picture was submitted for review to the Censor Board of Pakistan after it was cleared by the Indian Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

"However, they rejected the application saying it is not suitable for theatrical release in Pakistan," reveals a source, adding, "They deemed the movie inappropriate for viewership in Pakistan, due to its bold and controversial content."

Tanuj Garg, CEO of producer Ekta Kapoor's company confirmed the news, saying, "Yes, our overseas distributor informed us that Pakistan Censor Board deemed the movie unsuitable for theatrical exhibition. Unfortunately, the audience in that country will not have a legitimate means of viewing the film which is sad given the huge buzz there for the film."

The Dirty Picture, starring Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah and Tusshar Kapoor released in India on December 2.

issue is all resolved now 😆 😆
