Tuesday - Jun 13, 2006
Televisionpoint.com Correspondent
Beginning this June, Sony Entertainment Television is offering its viewers entertainment round the clock with bouquet of genres at different day parts. At the crack of dawn one can tune to some religious sermons with Sant Asaram Wani and a serial called Shree Ganesh. Then the channel is using the power of Archive Solutions, bringing back the old days of Kkusum, Yeh Meri Life Hai, and Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin.

Nayee Dopahar brings two distinctive shows - Kabhie to Nazar Milao, which is about an young, spirited girl, who is blind but overcomes her challenge to come out a winner; and Risshton Ki Dor is about a young brother who takes on the responsibility of looking after his 3 little sisters, when they lose their parents, at a very young age. For the prime time, the shows are Ek Ladki Anjaani Si, Aisa Des Hai Mera and Thodi Khushi Thode Gham, all of which have been launched few weeks ago. On Fridays, the weekend line up is a mixed bag of fun with Deal Ya No Deal, Boogie Woogie, CID and adding spice to this is the gossip magazine format show, Kandy Floss.

Says N. P. Singh, COO, SET India, "In line with our programming strategy to offer all day variety entertainment to our viewers, we have introduced a whole new schedule on our channel filled with more masti and dhamaal. There are new programmes, fresh bands, and new genres, and of course the revival of some of our evergreen shows that continue to be on top of mind of our viewers. Starting this month, June, there's something for everyone all through the day on Sony Entertainment Television."

For the record, in the last six months, for the C&S 4+ in the Hindi speaking markets, Star Plus is the market leader commanding a Lions Share of 56 %; followed by Zee TV with a whooping share of 23 %; then comes SET with 8 %, continued by Sahara One, Star One and Sab TV with a market share of 6 %, 4 % and 3 % each respectively.
