Restaurant Challenge: MCI contestants to run a high end live kitchen

In the upcoming episode the contestants are in for a surprise with the Restaurant Challenge. The task at hand is to run the popular, Fratelli Fresh Restaurant of the Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel. The challenge will divide the contestants in two teams ' Red and Blue, and have them serve a 7 course meal for about 125 customers in a span of just three hours

Obviously cooking in a live restaurant is no mean feat. Shipra Khanna says, "We are going to get only two hours in pre-prep. I think the responsibility of a live restaurant and real customers is a big opportunity for us to prove ourselves. I hope we can pull it off"

As part of the challenge, the
MasterChef India contestants are going to receive a range of Amul Cheese which is the core ingredient. From designing the menu to pricing the dishes affordably, it isn't only cooking skills that will be tested this time. The prize at stake is huge too - the winning team gets a sure shot ticket to Hongkong.

Shahzad adds, "Wow a live restaurant - cooking for real customers right then and there! I think this can happen only in the
MasterChef India 2 kitchen. Things are getting tougher and now we are actually going to learn about the stress chefs go through in the kitchen. I am all pepped up as it will be a completely new premise."

As for Vijaylakshmi, she seems super excited too, "Restaurant Challenge ke through mera ek bahut bada sapna sach hoga. I used to always wonder how people work in a restaurant. And now I am getting this chance through MasterChef to live my dreams for a day as a Chef."

For the first time contestants in MasterChef are going to be judged depending on the money they earn by feeding customers. So which team earned the most money and who will be in the 'Aakhri Daav'?

Restaurant Challenge will be a dream come true.. says Joseph...

Hi all, a few months back I had never thought my life would change in such a big way. Coming from a small place like Siliguri, the MasterChef India 2 experience so far has been very overwhelming. I've learnt about so many new things, from exotic ingredients to unfamiliar equipments. I hadn't even heard about most of them before.

Every week is something new and tough in MasterChef India 2. You can never enter the MC kitchen thinking you know what's going to happen. But the Restaurant Challenge is something I'm really looking forward to. A live kitchen, cooking for customers, designing the menu and pricing our dishes too ' all this is a huge responsibility. It will be an ideal chance of living a chef's life for a day.

I'm sure my dad's tips will be helpful in this challenge.
Kaam karte waqt woh sirf kaam pe dhyaan dete hai. He has taught me the importance of hygiene in the kitchen and not to waste ingredients. We also get a lot of guidance from our mentors. I always make a mental note of all the tips given to me, especially by Chef Ajay because they really work for me.

My dad was a continental chef.
Cook sunte hi logo ka muh ban jata tha. But thanks to MasterChef India 2, all this is changing. I am so happy I got this chance as MasterChef keeps only your talent in mind, and not your background. My ultimate dream is to win the title and gift my dad a restaurant.

The best part is that we have so much fun despite the difficult tasks. Everyone is supportive and the environment is cheerful. Vijaylakshmi, I tell you, is a real prankster. Off camera, she pulls everyone's legs a lot. She and Dolcee are also always fussing over their clothes and makeup which is quite hilarious at times. But we are all one big family.

The competition is getting tougher, and everyone is so talented. I wonder what will happen in the Restaurant Challenge.

The customers will judge this time not us... says Kunal

Hi friends, we are half way through our journey in MasterChef India 2 and it is time to take our zaykebaaz to a professional kitchen. This week's Restaurant Challenge will do just that. The deciding factor in the upcoming challenge is going to be the customers, and not us. The prize is big too - a trip to Hongkong.

The Restaurant Challenge will take the contestants to Fratelli Fresh, an Italian restaurant. The huge restaurant sees a lot of visitors and the open air kitchen will be surprising as people are going to watch the contestants cook. In a live kitchen, you have to cook by order and can't prepare a dish beforehand. The food has to be cooked fresh all the time depending on the order. So it can be quite difficult.

Besides designing a balanced menu, the most challenging thing for the contestants will be putting a price on their dishes. The contestants will be divided in two teams against each other. Hence, their dishes must be intelligently priced. Both, expensive and cheap pricing will put them in a difficult situation. Sabse badi cheez yeh hai ki ab tak contestants MasterChef kitchen mein khaana bana rahe the. Now it's going to be a professional kitchen with big burners, huge boilers and fancy equipments. It can be a bit overwhelming you know, but I'm sure they will make the most of this opportunity.

Carrying the legacy of MasterChef forward is no easy task, and I'm so happy about the mutual bond I share with Ajay and Vikas, especially Ajay. Though our viewpoints may differ on many things, our temperaments are the same. Whether it's the sets or people outside, 'Ajay-Kunal' has become one word and it feels really great. We can be really funny at times too, and love imitating everyone's mannerisms, like the way Shazia claps or Vijaylakshmi talks.

Coming back to the Restaurant Challenge, I am super excited about it! Who will fly to Hongkong and who will be in the danger zone?
