On June 16 there will be another music release of KANK at the IIFA in Dubai with a simultaneous release in India. Overseas launch Says Karan, who is right now in the midst of hectic preparations in London, "There will be two overseas launches — one in London and the other in Dubai. Sony and I will be releasing our film's music for the first time in the overseas market in UK. It just happened that we decided to have two releases. Actually, it's the first time any film has had a music release in the overseas market. Sony and I have had three very big musical successes till now and Sony felt it's time to launch the music overseas as it has a big market. Shah Rukh is in London on a holiday with his kids, so he will be there along with mainstream media. There will be an audio-visual screening followed by a Q and A session." Kad's not coming One of Karan's and Shah Rukh's closest friends, Kajol, was in London. So will she be there for the musical launch? "No, Kajol is back in Mumbai. It will be just Shah Rukh, my mom and me for the London music launch," says Karan. What happens in Dubai? "On June 16 we will have the music launch of KANK in Dubai and India simultaneously. The Dubai launch will be attended to by Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan), Abhishek, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji." The music CDs will be priced at a specially low price of Rs 99 along with a free CD promo of KANK. Says Karan, "Yes, that's true. It's for the first time that such a low price has been introduced. Sony wants to make the music heard by as many people as possible at affordable prices. This is also to prevent piracy and song downloading. Rather than download one song, people can now buy the entire album." Isn't he doing a Koffee With Karan at IIFA? "Yes, it's a concept based on the concept of Koffee With Karan. It's for charity, and will be followed by Manish Malhotra's fashion show. We haven't finalised as of now who I will be interviewing on stage. In fact, I got the Koffee With Karan idea from the Kal Ho Naa Ho music launch where I interviewed Shah Rukh, Saif and Preity on stage. That's when I realised why not do a chat show like this?" So is he stressed out with two music releases? "Yes, I am hysterical, stressed and anxious," concedes Karan and adds, "I have said hello to anxiety and goodbye to sleep — the story of every filmmaker — prerelease stress and no sleep. After Dubai, I am back to Mumbai to pray," he grins before signing off. | |||
