The episode starts with the three chefs asking the audience what was the price of the most expensive dish they ever tasted...Rs 1000?2000? 10,000?They then announce that one of the masterchef contestants will create history today by creating a dish worth Rs 1 lakh!!The contestants are shown entering the masterchef kitchen.Chef Kunal informs them in today's challenge they woould compete neither in teams nor in pairs but solo for the 'flavour e azam' title.The two special guests for the day are introduced-renowned author of Indian cookbooks Mrs Nita Mehta and ace Chef Saby of Olive restaurant, Delhi.The contestants then proceeded to their respective cooking stations and are told to look under their tables for their 'unique gift' ,which turned out to be a new type of equipment for each of the contestant.The task of the day was to create a dish with indian flavours using their given equipment within 60 minutes.The different equipments for each contestant were-
Joseph-a nitrous oxide foamer .
Dolcee- a silicon baking towel and a blow torch.
Shezad-pot used for paper cooking.
Jyoti-cellophane cooking sheet.
Rajendra-sushi mat.
Puneet-ice cream maker.
Shazia-waffle maker.
Vijaylakshmi-stone grill.
Shipra-vegetable cutter which creates long stands of vegetables.
As the task proceeds,we get an insight into contestants dishes.Joseph makes a steamed fish dish with mustard foam, Shipra makes a french style chicken and potato spirals with indian flavours,Dolcee makes gajar ka halwa as wafers with mascarpone and mava fillings,Vijaylakshmi makes a chicken kabab mousse in dessert style and Rajender makes a makai upma sushi with fish and chutney filling.
The tasting is done by Chef Vikas and the two guests. They gave the following judgements-
Shezad- his spicy poached hariyali machli received good comments in terms of flavours and textures as a complete dish.
Shipra-her Des Pardes chicken dish was too sutble in terms of flavours and lacked the indian quotient.Also the potato spirals were not a part of the main dish and only a side component.
Vijaylakshmi-her kabab mousse had good flavours although a bit spicy and not quite the texture of mousse.
Shazia-her Zafraani Waffle with Cheese Stuffed Chicken lacked indian flavour.
Puneet-his Chatpati Malai Baraf icecream tasted too simple and lacked creativity compared to the other contestants.
Joseph-his Bhapa Mustard Fish lacked overall colour and the foam didnot quite turn out as expected.
Dolcee- her Kesari Gajar Guftagu praised for its unique flavours and indo-italian twist of green tea mousse and mascarpone cheese.
Jyoti- her Jaykedar Potli dish had beautiful presentation and flavours worthy of a five star hotel dish.
Rajendra-his Hindustani Sushi was praised for its use of indian and japanese elements, its clean flavours and beautiful presentation.
The top three dishes were Dolcee's, Jyoti's and Rajendra's.
The winner was Rajendra for his Hindustani Sushi.He got Rs 1 lakh and the title of "flavour e azaam". His dish would be featured in guest Chef Saby's restaurant.
