First off, I completely empathize with Sandhya and her character. In fact, I cringe inside for those who actually had to go thru this in real life. Growing up, Sandhya was part of a modern, educated family who believed in Equality, Justice, and Honesty. In just less than a month, those ideals and values have all been shattered. She is forced to lie to her in-laws for her brother's misdeeds. Suraj, being too weak to go against his mom, prepares the halwa on her behalf. Dishonest (even though it shows an act of support for his wife, a person as honest as Sandhya would be appalled at how much one has to lie to protect themselves from bhabho, and furthermore, that her husband lacks the courage to speak up). So there the Honesty factor that she was born and brought up with flew out the window.

Equality- she is forced to serve him his lunch and "fan him" down while he's eating. I'm sorry, but that is completely archaic for a modern, educated girl. He doesn't say one word. Although WE know that he feels bad about it, SHE doesn't. In that house, the slightest misdemeanor and the women are mistreated, and treated like dirt. Meenu has to sit on the floor when people are over, etc. Where's the equality? Bhabho says that "pati are like God." Well, does she respect her own husband?

Justice - when Meenu was slapped mercilessly, that is not meteing out justice. That's physical abuse for anyone, esp someone who wanted to be an IPS officer. After bhabho stopped him, Suraj didn't once intervene. Again, although we know he felt bad, Sandhya didn't. Sandhya's deceased parents being blamed for "not giving her sanskars and teaching her household matters." I mean, come on. Seriously?!?!?

These people lack education, class, and sensibility. All of that would reflect in Suraj, unless he really showed outward support of his wife, and that he believes otherwise. Despite bhabho and the family's views, Sandhya was ready to ask Suraj about her studies. We know why he said what he did to those college girls, but She didn't. She then saw that he believes the same thing... so naturally she'll lose the little faith & hope in him.

As for someone's post of why she couldn't understand her brother's dream to go the US. Her brother, who probably spent a lot of money on her wedding, could've put that money into providing a good hostel, or atleast found her a good home. In this day & age, girls are capable of living on their own. Instead of selfishly abandoning her, he could've sat her down & talked to her about her options. But he didn't. So now, as per her sanskars, she's trying to manage in a world that is alien to her. She's probably boiling inside, with nobody to confide in.

Beauty is skin deep...please dont insult the character/actress in such a way...and beauty lies in the eye of beholder...to me she looks thousand times better than the stacked up bahus with not even a single hair out of place...she portrays the innocence of her tender age very well...and once again Deepika is indeed very beautiful...

First of all, I would liek to make it clear to that I love the charector Saqnday very much the way it is going. But since we are on the debate to find fault with Sandya, her Sasural & her brother, I would like to put in few of my view points.

I do agree with you on some points here, but I have some of my reservations with regard to Sandya. If we talk about Equality, she should have opposed her brother about her marriage and would have convinced her SIL to go ahead with him instead of succumbing to agree to marry in 15days time. Justice, Honesty, if she believed in that, she would not have lied to Bhaboo, that she is willing to marry on her own desire. Infact her MIL asked this question directly to her. When the marriage broker lied to baboo about the halwa made by Sandya, she could have told the truth, but no went mum. She had a chance to rectify that even after marriage when Baboo asked her to oprepare the sweet, instead, she just went in and tried to prepare a dish which she never ever tried. With this act, was she truthful to her mother or MIL. Yes, her MIL is a rude lady who is born with a open mouth but did she not appreciate the sweet (though made by Suraj) and present her the Gold Khada which was given to her by her mother. Did she not feed Sandya fom her own hands? If she did this to safe gaurd her mother reputation, what is wrong with Suraj helping his mother in preparing food?

If you feel that serving husband is below equality, I just can't take it. Please yaar what is wrong in serving your hubby? I do serve from the day one and even wait for his company for dinner even beyond dinner time but never thought it as a job. I would like to say that we (DILs)serve the entire family (kids & male) and only after that we will eat. Never ever thought it was in teh angle of equality. Ofcourse may be fanning him while eating might be a bit more, but if there is no power on a sunny day, it is really difficult to even a morsal of food when you are sweating. In this case Suraj works with the fire (stove) always, so may be she would have asked her to fan him, but that was was an exceptional case.

Yes, I do agree she was unaware of what went on between the college girls and Suraj, she heard only the last part where he talke about not to allow girls higher education, or else there foot will not stay on the earth. But she did knew every thing about Meena, her sceaming & hiding the truth from her in-laws, to put it in legal terms, meddling with evidences (which is far more important for any police investigations), yes manhandling was wrong but what she did is also be termed as manhandling, she held Vikrams hand not aked him to stop beating...

now coming to her brother getting her married, I didn't find any problem in him trying to get her married in a hurry but he should have waited a bit longer may be he would have gone ahead leaving his wife back in India to earch for a matching allience. he did tried to find educated grooms but to his bad luck, whichever he finalized failed because of a death in the family. When he realised Suraj was a halwaai, he did say no to the broker but then he had to choose between his future (dream) & his responsibility. naturally for any human being, he choose his destiny than his sister. If we sympathise with Sandya, why not Ankur, even his foreign trip was finalized when their parents were alive. I DO AGREE WITH YOU PEOPLE ON HIM LYING TO HIS WIFE & SISTER ABOUT SURAJ'S QUALIFICATION AND TO SURAJ'S FAMILY ABOUT SANDYA'S. But he didn't abanden her on her own instead given her hand o the safe custody of Suraj. Even today, nobody appreaiates leaving behind a lonely girl to mend her life (please note that she is still a student) even without a job to support. If they had some near & dear ones (like aunts / uncles) he would have left her with them unmarried but not all alone.

She is not at all trying to mingle with the family, Instead of feeling ackward, she should accpet the fact that it is her life, and she has to adjust to others than expect every one else to adjust to you.

P.S: Yaar please let us accept it as a commercial, and without these types of dramas, they cant build a story. these are the spices they will put to atract viewers, so let us live with these comic, unrealistic parts.

atleast she should take a step towards suraj. she should tell him all truth n iam sure he will surely listen to her n help her in achieving her dreams. common sandhya speak up d truth yaar. a relation is maintained by both partners mutual understanding n efforts . one can;t take it to their destination without others consent. thats why they r called jeevan sathi na.

hi sorry no offence before jumping the gun if you watch the show regularly then please observe why sandhya is behaving this way? yes suraj is sweet its not his fault but her horrid & dispicable brothers fault, but surajs illiterate & behaves like one to, how dare he genralise that all educated girls are ill mannered what about his own sister? it doesnt mean one person is wrong all educated girls are the same, secondly like a fool doesnt even know the woman & he wants to get [physical with her, is the man for real? he can see shes not happy, but does nothin, his cheeky witch sister humiliates her & this dumb wit & stands & watches, she saves life of that arrogant mothers of his, but in return the old bag shows no gratitude, so how can educated girl can live happily with all these ill mannered junglee's

sandhya's attitude towards babo is just right because more crap comes out of that womans mouth, she tortured & taunted her for not feeding her precious son & humiliated her in front of every one, says degrading stuff about her late parents & you guys want her to salute such a brutal & foul mouth wicked witch, i dontt think so & what does hubby do stand there & watch like a spinless wit. its good to be ideal son but if parents are wrong also point it out in respectable manner

so sandya has every right to be unhappy with these junglees, poor babe is stuck in a horrid jungle, with no way out thatnks to her arrogant & selfish so called brother

To Me Sandhya is a Normal gal who comes from a normal family , who reacts to every thing in a normal way , and shows her shock and disagreement with out insulting or hurting elders 👍🏼...

That;s exactly wat i believe in , when some one is wrong , even if they are elders to you, instead of being Numb , deaf and saying yes to it and cursing them in heart , show ur disapproval and disagreement by being vocal without hurting or insulting elders , its normal tht elders dont take youngies telling them something hence the natural ur head strong , u dont respect elders are all comes ...

But i love sandhya caz te gal dont give in so easily, she tries hard to prove her point without giving her ground or rather insulting elders , the same one which happened after the bull fight scene , the talk , in the end who had to give in ??? bhaboo ...

this is a normal gal's life and she dont have attiitude problem, she is shocked how careless and backward her In laws and HUsband are over things like voting and all , which is very imp things in many peoples life...

I for example, would have burst out if anyone dared to say anything against my parents or would not be thankful that I risked my life for her etc etc, but here they have shown someone who deals all of this without insulting anyone which requires a lot of patience n determination 👏

to say that now Sandhya is married so she should accept and become a meek cow is non-sense

we as the audience get to see all those scenes of Suraj that Sandhya does not so we can't judge her on our viewing basis... or maybe she should bug the whole house and watch the videos at night 😆
