ganeshji in water

what is this theory about putting god's idol in bowl of water they showedin start that priya's mom puts ganeshji in bowl of water till her shaadi. anyone know whats this for and does it work ?why is it done in real infact

This happens especially in Maharashtra. We keep GanpatiBappa in Water if we are upset with him and wants him to fulfill our wish. Its like punishing God...Generally its not suggested but at extreme cases when we loose all hope and think that our worship is not answered then this drastic step is taken...BUT DO NOT DO IT.
