well frnds aaj i ws just searching d net...found many articles n sum thng i had nt heard...

mayb they r postd bfore bt cant b sure....well here i am posting sum...well ths s like research on juhi😉

article 1:

Our TV stars, however, celebrate this bond of love whether they have a real sister/brother or not. Juhi Parmar (Kumkum) is very protective of her younger brother. One day when they were kids and one boy beat him up, she jumped on him and really gave him a pasting of his life, saying no one messes with my kid brother. Even now, when she does not like any of his girlfriends, she makes her views crystal clear. Actually he understands her feelings from her killer looks.

article 2:

"Kumkum will give me a new identity"
Posted on 23 July 2002

First Shaheen, and now Kumkum. For Juhi Parmar who came in quite green behind the ears when she first landed in Mumbai from Rajasthan, it's been a smooth ride.

Shaheen, which died young on Sony, was not able to cut the determined young actor's career short. Her fetching looks and winsome talent has landed her another title role - this time the big budget Kumkum on Star Plus, that hopes to redefine afternoon programming on television. While Kumkum went on air last week, Juhi has another show lined up - Virasat on Sahara that premieres 22 July. In the next few weeks, one more serial featuring Juhi - Saara Aakash, based on the Indian Air Force will start telecast on Star Plus.

She has her hands full at this minute - in itself a remarkable feat in a finicky industry. Juhi is not complaining either - she says she relishes every minute on the sets, acting being a passion she can never tire of. The sprightly actress took time off between her shooting schedule to share some thoughts on her life in the industry with indiantelevision.com correspondent Amar.

From being born and brought up in conservative Rajasthan, how did you make it to an acting career in television?

Right from childhood, I was obsessed with the idea of acting on screen. After completing my studies, I came down to Mumbai from Jaipur, where I have been born and brought up, and put up with my uncle and aunt here. I went about meeting producers and was lucky to get breaks quickly enough. I started off with a one episode role in Jee Sahab, directed by Manjul Sinha and followed it up with a four to five episodes role in a thriller series- Who. The title role of Shaheen was of course the turning point of my career.

Did you learn acting at any school or are you self taught?
Acting can't be learnt. It's a feeling that comes from within and that too very naturally. The sets have been my acting school and the directors my instructors.

After the docile Shaheen, Kumkum must be a very different character to portray.
Kumkum is a virtuous modern Indian bahu. Apart from being Jatin's wife, she is everybody's friend - right from the grandparents to the kids in the family. Everybody can confide in her and she extends help to everybody in solving their problems. She is a very warm and sweet human being but not in the conventional sugar-coated style. She is conscientious and upright and will never support something she feels is wrong.

How important a landmark is Kumkum for you?
Very important. It's on rare occasions that you get to play the title role. And once you do, you run the risk of getting typecast into that character. It happened with me with Shaheen. After Shaheen, most of the offers I got were for Muslim socials where I had to play a character similar to Shaheen. Hopefully, Kumkum will give me a new identity and help me get recognized as a versatile actress.

"Every time I begin with a new character, I try to undo all that I did to get into my previous character and start afresh"

How did you prepare for this role?
I go largely by my instincts and try to be as uninhibited and natural as I can be. For Kumkum, the director Sanjay Upadhyay gave me a detailed narration of the character and the important incidents unfolding with her in the story. I took it from there and made my own observations of how the character would actually behave.

What are the factors you take into consideration before taking up a new role?
My role itself and its significance to the central story. After Shaheen, people's expectations from me have gone very high and I can't take up uninspiring roles that don't quite match up to these expectations. So, I have refused many offers in the last one year.

Does acting on TV tend to be very taxing? How do you plan your schedules?
Well, schedules on TV just cannot be planned because of the endless pressures of meeting deadlines. I end up shooting for 25-30 days in the month, but I really don't mind it. Physically it is tiring, no doubt, but I am so passionate about acting that my spirits have never been dampened.

Do you like the script to be given to you well in advance or do you prefer having a look at it just before the shot?
Yes, I prefer to go through the script well in advance. This is not to memorize it but to get a feel of what exactly is expected of me on a given day. This helps me to mentally gear myself for the performance. When you are shooting for two or three serials simultaneously, it always helps to know the script beforehand so that I get the focus of the character right.

Is there a scene or performance you regret and feel that given another chance, would have come out much better?
Yes, there was a scene in Choodiyan, where I had to talk to Akshay Anand about my mother who died when I was a child. In this scene, my voice had to be choked and had to break and my eyes had to be moist. Somehow, I found it very difficult to do it to the director's satisfaction. After a while, I became so conscious of myself that the scene would just not come right. Finally, even though the director liked it and okayed it, when I saw the scene or when I think about it even now, I feel I could have done the scene much better.

Who are your favourite directors?
I have been really lucky to have worked with some outstanding directors on TV. My favourite directors are Pravesh Bhardwaj, who directed me in Shaheen, Imtiyaz Punjabi who directed me in Choodiyan and Sanjay Upadhyay, who is directing me in Kumkum. I would love to work with Ravi Rai, whose Sailaab I doted on when I was in school.

How important a role does a director play in improving an actor's performance? Are you a director's actor?
A director plays a pivotal role in bringing out the desired performance from an actor. A director needs to know very clearly what he wants from his actor and he should be able to communicate that very effectively as well. A director is like a coach who keeps guiding and correcting your performance. Yes, I consider myself a director's actor. Not having been trained, I have learnt by the trial and error method, thanks to directors who have all been very supportive and helped me improve on my shortcomings. My directors have played a key role in my success.

"The advantage of a mise en scene is that there is a lot more spontaneity and a better flow to it"

Have you ever done a mise-en scene? Is it easier or more difficult to perform?
Yes, I have. It's certainly not difficult for me at this stage because I can carry a performance effectively without a pause or break. In fact the advantage of a mise en scene is that there is a lot more spontaneity and a better flow to it. But the disadvantage is that even if a lightman or a spot boy makes a slight error, the entire shot has to be re-done which can be very stressful.

How important is it for a TV actor to market himself/herself?
I don't know because I haven't had to do it. Luckily, I got good breaks early on in my career and based on my performances in these serials more offers followed. I have neither had a publicity agent nor have I gone to producers' offices asking for work.

Do you follow any self improvement regimen?
No, because my acting schedules don't permit me time for it. My effort is just to enact a role with as much freshness as I can and give a natural performance. Upadhyay, who I consider among the finest directors in the industry, has always insisted that good acting is all about being natural in your performance and I fully agree with him. Besides, every time I begin with a new character, I try to undo all that I did to get into my previous character and start afresh.

Which has been the happiest moment of your career?
There have been two extremely happy moments - when I bagged the roles of Shaheen and KumKum.

Under the arclights

Sushama Seth (Begum Sahiba) is the only well known name in the serial. Most others are newcomers.

Juhi Parmar

Pretty, slim, tall, and twenty something, the actress from Jaipur, Juhi Parmar plays the lead role in Shaheen. With one Gujarati film under her belt, she looks confident and excited about her role.

Very keen on her career, Juhi left Jaipur, dumping college two years back , and came to Mumbai. She received guidance from her uncle, Rakesh Parmar who had directed a part of blockbuster serial 'Tara'. 'I get to know few good people in industry due to the contacts, but never the role. For my first serial, ' Woh, ' I went through a screen test and got the role.' It was the same with Shaheen.
Juhi Parmar

'There were seven to eight girls trying for the same role, But I grabbed it.," says the charming Juhi . Although she had schooled in English, she sounds as though she was born in a Muslim family.

Sushama Seth with Juhi Parmar

She started her career with 'Woh' on Zee. After Woh came 'Choodiyan' produced by Just Production. She played the role of younger sister to the central character, a mentally disturbed character.'The role in Choodiyan is similar to my nature, where as in 'Shaheen it is totally different.'

Playing two different roles back to back does not deter her. She looks at any role as medium to prove her acting abilities. " So when I am doing Shaheen, I am involved in the role." Her enthusiasm, concentration, and zest for work are clearly visible. Each time after a shot is okayed, she runs to the monitor to see how the shot is. There is very little stress or fatigue on her face. She hopes TV will be her stepping stone to Bollywood.

Wedding and Reception

anuj_wed5.jpg 24793 bytesThe Wedding on February 12 and Reception on February 13 at the Radio Club (near Anuj's Colaba home) saw over a thousand guests gather to celebrate and wish the beautiful couple.

The Baarat left from the Hotel Ramada at Juhu towards the Grand Sangam Hall of the J.W. Marriott Hotel. In his childhood days Anuj often expressed his desire of going for his wedding in a chariot with white horses. His childhood wish turned true, and Anuj with his two young nephews moved in a grand chariot while the guests danced to popular Hindi song numbers.

For the wedding, Anuj wore an olive green sherwani with crystal work and Ishmit wore a maroon ghagra choli. For the next day reception at the Radio Club, Anuj chose a silk churidar and kurta with a maroon colored sherwani-style jacket encrusted with swarovski crystals. Ishmit wore a red and pink sharara with kundan and zardozi work. Anuj picked all his wedding clothes from the Millionnaire boutique at Mumbai's Kemps Corner, while Ishmit bought hers from her family designer in Delhi.

A number of celebrities and close friends of Anuj attended the celebration at the Radio Club. They included Viveck Vaswani, Rakesh Bedi, Kiron Kher, Karishma Tanna (Koi Dil Mein Hai), Manish Goel, Kishen Mulchandani, Manish Goswami (producer of Kittie Party), Sai Deodhar (Monica of Saara Aakaash). Juhi Parmar (Kumkum), Poonam Narula (Mahi of Kkusum) and Nausheen Sardar Ali (Kkusum). The menu was very elaborate and the cuisines included Italian, Indian, Continental, Chinese and Mughlai. The starters, drinks, the Delhi chaat and the variety of desserts were a big hit with all the guests.

article 5:

Cool looking youngsters in trendy outfits dance to the tunes of a rap song in a misty disc. Amidst the fun, a tussle between two guys turns the raucous noise into grave silence. Enters a sari- clad woman in green. Her hair tied up with make- up and sindoor applied to perfection. She desperately intervenes and impedes the fight.

Cut!!!! announces the director. The woman turns and walks towards me with a smile. "We have been shooting since morning. It's hectic but I am enjoying every bit of it," she dimples.

Adulation, popularity and the best patni award at the Star Parivaar honours hasn't induced an iota of pride in this girl who always dreamt of becoming an actress. With Kumkum, her dreams are almost fulfilled.

The Ujjain born Juhi says she nurtured the dream of becoming an actress ever since she remembers. "Acting was a growing passion within me. I didn't want to be anything but an actress," she says.

On her serials
"I literally lived the role of Shaheen (her debut serial on Sony) and my performance was greatly appreciated." But the end to the serial did not end her zeal. "Most of the offers I got were similar to Shaheen and I wanted to do something different. I wanted to break the Muslim girl image I had till then. That's when Kumkum happened.

"Breaking an image can be tough as you are identified with that character. It was a bigger challenge for me to break through the Muslim girl image and imbibe the image of a Hindu bahu. None of us expected the serial to become so popular. Although Kumkum is an afternoon sitcom, the best patni award was least expected. Kumkum gave me the identity of a versatile actress," she beams.

On playing Kumkum
"I cannot relate to Kumkum," she laughs. "Kumkum is an extremely self-sacrificing woman and I can never be that. I neither have her patience nor her sober temperament. So, how does she play the role to such aptness? "I guess I am a good actress," she smiles.

"In fact, I relate to Chanda. She is closer to my heart. I have always played these sacrificing, pain-filled characters but while playing Chanda, I could show the lighter side to my acting, which was a refreshing change. She is extremely blunt and transparent and that's how I am. Also, it gave me an opportunity to showcase my talent in a different way."

So, is the serial going 20 years ahead?

"I hope it doesn't," she shudders. "I don't wish to play a mother when my onscreen daughter would be just my age. Right now, there are no such plans as there is enough of a story."

Her favourite co-star
"Hussain and I are like buddies. We share a great chemistry off screen and I guess that's the reason our onscreen chemistry seems so loveable. Although we had done an ad for Noga juice some years ago, we were never friends then. It's only after a year after Kumkum happened that we became friends. He is very shy and reserved whereas I am an extrovert and love making friends. We play pranks on one another and have a great time on the sets. I know I can depend on him in times of crises."

Talk about falling in love with your co-star, and pat comes her reply. "I share a colossal friendship with all my co-stars. Right now, I am enjoying my work and my success. Marriage can wait.

But I wish to fall in love with someone who is sensitive and makes me laugh. He should also have a wicked smile and expressive eyes."

What are your current TV projects?
Presently I am engaged only with Kumkum on Star Plus.

Tell us something about your character in the serial Kumkum telecast on Star Plus.
I play the role of a woman who has so many important roles in one role of Kumkum.
I am the responsible daughter-in-law, sister-in-law and all other roles that any woman goes throughout her life. I am very happy with my role in the serial. It has been great working for it.

What do you do in your leisure time?
I am generally very busy. I hardly get any leisure time.

According to you, what has been your best performance till date?
It is over three and a half years that the serial is going on. It is very difficult to tell which one is my best performance. But I would like to mention that I enjoyed and performed my best while I was playing a double role in the serial Kumkum.

What are your future plans?
I never plan for the future. I take each day as it comes

For soap stars, it's lights, camera, action, on a different stage. "For a marriage in April, we roped in Hussain and Juhi Parmar to do some dance sequences. They practised in Mumbai and performed in Calcutta on the wedding night. The two-and-a-half-hour programme had most of the Bollywood shaadi numbers," says Vijay Bokadia of Moksh Events.

A Fleeting Look at Telly Awards

By: Goher Iqbal Punn
Wednesday, December 07, 2005

Telly Awards have been announced and delivered to the celebs of television world in a glittering event held in Mumbai. The most prominent categories are listed as under:

Juhi Parmar won the best actress award for 'Kumkum'. Since she was in Maldives, her sister received the award on her behalf.

article 9:

Guess who's going to be busiest this navratri ? Music video actresses and TV stars. Until a few years ago, film actors were the star attractions at garba events. Their counterparts have now taken over, especially in the last two to three years. They have offers to make appearances from all over the country.

And there's good money to be had as well. Ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh per appearance, and more depending on what the person's expected to do. Right from the bahus to the saas', from the vamps to the do-gooders, all are making trips to other cities next week onwards. Mandira Bedi, Vikas Bhalla, Juhi Parmar, Urvashi Dholakia, Sangita Ghosh, Rajeev Khandelwal, Aamna Shariff, all the three Shwetas (Keswani, Kawatra and Tiwari), Jassi and company, actors from family drama serials are in demand. Delhi, Bhopal, Jaipur, Raipur, Jodhpur, Surat, Ahmedabad, Pune, Nagpur and Kolkata are keen to have stars sway to the dandiya beats.

That apart, there are plans to go abroad as well. Sakshi Tanwar, who has travelled across India over the last few years, is going to US and Canada this year. Hiten Tejwani and wife Gauri Pradhan will go to the US and London for 20 days for the festival season. For Mumbai, however, there's nothing concrete planned yet. "I have been approached by some organisers here. Let's see if I can adjust my shooting dates," says actor Vikas Bhalla. But the frenzy here is definitely less compared to other cities. "Actors are based in Mumbai and that's probably the reason," explains Juhi Parmar. Another reason, points out music video gal Shefali Jariwala, is that Mumbai organisers need them only on week-ends. That's not possible with many having committed outside. But the city will not miss out completely. With top organisers looking for tie-ups with TV channels, one can expect stars to descend here too.

Kumkum ka pyara sa ghar

Juhi Parmar at Palm Court
Come March, Juhi Parmar (aka Kumkum) will move out from her rented flat in Sahkar Nagar, Andheri to a plush 3-BHK apartment in Palm Court Complex at Malad with her younger sister Hina who is a fashion designer.

Karan-Nandini ki padosi

Actors Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan (Karan and Nandini of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi) will be her neighbours. The Kyunki couple live one flight above Juhi.

However, Hiten and Gauri will be moving in by June or July. Juhi tells hitList, "I will be staying in a flat, which isn't surrounded by other buildings — its well-lighted and airy, and I just can't wait to move in."

At the Palm Court headstone
The interiors of Juhi's new house are being taken care of by good friend, Preeti Garud, who is an interior designer by profession. "When I had been to Preeti's house for the first time, I was overwhelmed at the way she had done it up. I had told her, then, that whenever I get a place of my own, she would have to do that as well."

House-hunting ends

Juhi had actually been house- hunting for more than a year before she booked the Palm Court flat in October 2004. "But when I entered this particular apartment, I immediately felt a lot of positive vibes. I immediately called up the builders for a booking," she says.

Juhi Parmar with a friend
Making a house a home

Juhi and Preeti are shopping some of the things, which will make to Juhi's abode.

"We go together to pick up the wooden flooring, Italian marble and bathroom tiles. Frankly, I trust Preeti's choice completely but she says that I must accompany her because I am the one who has to stay in the house. It would have been ready by now if I had more time to myself.

Due to my hectic shooting schedules, I manage some time only during the second-half of every month. We are not buying the cupboard, bed
and dining table. Those are being created by Preeti's labourers."

Kahani Juhi ki

Right from childhood, Juhi was obsessed with the idea of acting on screen. After completing her studies in Jaipur, she came down to Mumbai, started off with a cameo in Jee Sahab, directed by Manjul Sinha. The title role of Shaheen was a turning point in her career. Then came Kumkum. For a brief while, she played Devi. The rest, as they say, is history.
