While I was not amused by Shakti's behavior, I dont feel he is completely to blame in his situation. He sees how his own mother has given life to three children, and she gets no credit for it from SS, so he has that as his example. He almost never sees a true relationship between SS and Amma. So then he acts on what he sees. Since he has already killed his one unborn child, it's not surprising to see he would be willing to finish off Kesar. after all, she is the one standing in his way to get a light-skinned bride. The guy is a louse with no compassion, like SS. Kesar's reaction was predictable. After all of the torment she has put up with from her inlaws and from Shakti himself, she has started to respond to it. She didn't want to lose another child to this monster's carelessness, even if the child was not conceived in love. She did not want another innocent life to be taken by Shakti and have no recourse. Shakti cannot hold his liquor and he always blames others for his misdeeds. He blamed Arushi for his own behavior, is she mad too? What is he going to say to his own son when he asks him why his mother is treated in such an inhumane manner? He just has no feelings for anyone besides his dad, brother and sister. They aren't even giving us any Chandu scenes to lighten the mood from all of this gloom. I wish they would.
