Shyam eats the pineapple dish to avoid getting caught

Yes, the devil was desperate to cover his tracks by covering his face in the pretext of sneezing. I'm going to stretch this a little further. Now pineapple is a fruit which is supposed to generate a lot of heat and is a strict no no for pregnant women as it could lead to miscarriage. In other words, pineapple can be said to dispel fertility. Here Shyam's fertile thoughts about Khushi had to be hidden from the rest of the family. By eating a few pieces of pineapple, he tried to create the illusion of dispelling his filthy thoughts (at least in front of them). However, he made sure he did not eat too much of the pineapple so that the thoughts don't get washed out along with him.

La admonishing her friends and standing up for Nani

Who would have thought that the girl who looked down on all that was traditional and had nicknamed Nani as Gabbar would not only expound on the value of caring for the family and doing things that pleases the elders but would also stand up for Nani? No wonder Nani was pleasantly surprised to see La's transformation which she knew was not just for external appearances but was genuine. Nani gives the credit where it is due - to Khushi and blesses her.

I do not know what Nani's behaviour towards Khushi will be after she comes to know of Shyam's truth (if she does) but her blessings on an auspicious day like the Diwali will definitely have a positive effect on Khushi's life

La wishing Khushi ; Khushi hugging her and giving her the sweet

Not so long ago La had extended a friendly hand after she saw Khushi take the blame for her sake. Khushi embraced her as her own and went to the extent of selling her bangle to get her back into Arnav's life, thereby sweetening La's life. La first takes a bite of the sweet but offers it to Khushi, as if to show that although she may have been the first romantically linked woman in his life, she acknowledges that it is Khushi who will become Arnav's life, not her.

La lets Khushi know that Anjali's gifts got exchanged but assures her that she doesn't mind

As if to reiterated the earlier scene, this scene too emphasizes the fact that La will surrender Arnav without much of a fight. She may even be happy for Khushi, knowing that Khushi would suit him better than she would have.

Khushi binds herself in diyas

In her eagerness to bring brightness to the Raizada house by making La an appropriate bahu, Khushi ends by binding herself up. Now there were six concentric circles of diyas. I don't know how long it has been since Khushi started working as the bahu-trainer but since she received her first month's salary a couple of weeks' back, I think the six circles could refer the six weeks she may have worked there. What an eventful period it has been. La who had want to kick her out of the house at any cost at first, has now not only inculcated all the values taught by Khushi but was also asking the man for whom she transformed herself to help Khushi. This period also saw the complete U- turn by Arnav from an angry man who blasted her and asked Khushi to get out on her first day as a Raizada house employee to the man who could not take his eyes off her and takes the effort to get into the fiery ring to reach her, disregarding the heat that surrounds her. Tomorrow he would literally go down on his knees, for her.

If you start walking the circles from the outside the farthest one, wouldn't it be walking seven circles to the center?

Wow, that's another way of looking at it! Did not strike me. Yes, could mean the saath pheras but then we saw Arnav step in between the diyas and did not really go around the circles.

Hi Opti!

Splendid post!
Your interpretation of even the minute details of the episode are awesome.

La's conversation with Khushi regarding the exchange of saris was very significant today.
Though, I doubt she'll be this gracious when she comes to know of the reality about her beloved ASR's feelings for Khushi.
If she turns negative, Khushi will have another thorn on her path already riddled with other obstacles (read Shyam). So not looking forward to that!!

For now, the Diwali scenes are a treat to watch.

Another good explanation. Yes, may be the family which is so fond of Khushi right now may not be too fond her her because of Shyam. He will then lift her and take her out of the fiery rings that surround them.

"Opti"mysm strikes a win!!!! Love you daily column!!

Amen to that!!! I would hate for LA's character to turn negative after having witnessed her transformation. She has realized that being modern and being traditional are not mutually exclusive. It is possible to live a liberated "modern" lifestyle within the realm of tradition. Tradition doesn't bind, it liberates, if you understand it in the right spirit!!

Thanks. I hope they do not turn La negative. It would be too cliched. Khushi has enough thorns to prick her as such.

thanks smiley. I too hope Khushi does not hasten into consenting to be that creepo's wife because of wanting to spare La. Hope La realises she is not the one and graciously leaves. Would love it if Arnav himself declines to accept La for Nani is sure to bring up the topic since she is pleased with her.
